The beginning of 1800s during the British colonial rule, they could not pronounce 'DEEPAAVALI' (The path of light, illumination, dispenser of darkness) in the right way, and was distorted as 'DIWALI' which the muslims too lapped up as it suited their arabised/urdu form of pronunciation. It would be great if Shrimathi Shefaliji being a true celebrity among Sanathanis could turn the tide back to its original pronunciation. The south part to a certain extent still goes by Deepavali

Subtle suggestions on how to celebrate Diwali. Remove the cultural symbolism (including crackers, remember) and make it hollow and meaningless. Then later say why even bother celebrating it!

everything is related to energy , have you ever seen the energy , you have to feel the energy , can you show the heat and cold , you can explain the that feel only by words , if others want to experience the heat and cold means they have to feel by their own consciousness only , you can't show them , in the same way you have to realize and feel all good things up above us , just because that you are not understanding the depth of feeling doesn't mean that is pseudo science, if you want the proof , better go through the books related to our Nervous system, how the nerves have been interconnected, which nerve is more important for our concentration, how each and every nerve is related with our physical actions , which leads to our daily activities. Btw, we too decided ban fabindia after seeing the ghastly tag line. Plus we totally agree, except for the so called brand name, zero aesthetics in the product itself. Horrible product, I would say.
I am loving every word you say. You should see me right now. I am having the high one gets when listening to a perfectly legitimate demands put in perfectly logical, no nonsense style.
    NO BINDI, NO BUSINESS.

Why not!? Why we must allow ourselves to be deracinated by motivated commercial concerns cleverly doctoring our cultural minds!? We took it on the chin too long! No longer! Be discerning and selective by supporting our culture and pride! Unashamedly and unapologetically we stick to these principles! Thank you Shefaliji for bringing the idea to our attention!

I cent percent agree with you. Even, it applies to schools. What happened to our Gurukulas.!!??? It's because parents started sending their children to convent /Church /missionaries /private schools... So, our Gurukulas disappeared.
Learning should start from schools.. Not only buying products, even the missionary and church /private schools who stopped our girls wearing bhindi /flower /Nupur such kinds of objects to school, hindu parents should mercilessly take their children out of such schools never mind if they studied in a govt school than such shameless schools who are teaching divide among children...

It's not just about the bindi. It's also about the way the models are dressed, the clothes they wear and the way they wear them. Most of them look like kotewaalis/ courteasans, and sport a deliberate look of mourning on their faces. That must change as well.

Shefaliji, I commend you for standing up to foreigner and some of our locals who have been not showing respect towards our heritage. I would like you to take this campaign in educational institutes to bring awareness to young minds. It will help students to wake up and to take stand to protect our heritage.
