Brings back memories, a good B10M is the ultimate coach!
I used to love driving manual coaches, the B10Ms were great and sounded lovely...
Excellent. Proof that if cared for and driven properly, the 6 speed ZF can give a nice slick gearchange. See so many that are laboured and downright abused.
Sounds fantastic, well driven and drives well.
Loved the whump from that 9.6 engine at certain revs, the clean gear changes and all the sounds - a really enjoyable trip with you, many thanks.
Lovely ZF S6-90 sound, specially in first gear! Mid engined 10L Volvos were the pinnacle of comfort, ride smoothness and reliability in Brazil from the 70's to the late 90's!
Great vid, use to drive a lot of B10m s great buses, they corner beautifully.
Proper bit of driving that 👍🏼
Mega video stay safe and healthy.
Cant beat the power of a good old b10
What a lovely old machine. Don’t make them like the used to. Spent many a time on Elcock Reisen’s B10M EIL 829. Never let us down!
Love this bus have a few around locally early in moring
I would love the opportunity to drive one of these, sounds great.
Sounds great when revved high
great vid great driving great volvo what more is there to say !
Thanks 👍
Done a good many miles in one of these, me and my dad
It sounds quite throaty for a B10M! The sound of the brakes is so characteristic of those. Great driving. Love the video!
Thanks a lot!
There is a unique sound to the brakes on these older b10m. It happens when you take your foot off the brake pedal. It sounds like an out of tune trumpet, also the dennis javelin brakes have the same noise. Its air escaping from either the foot valve under the brake pedal or air escaping from quick release valve on the front axle that makes that noise.
Volvo B10M had the 6 speed ZF S6 synchromesh box (with or without splitter), no need for double clutching. Love the old B10M, made Volvo buses what it is today!
Depends how worn it is!
Great to see it only just realised its JIG7978 isn't it? i remember it in whitestar me and my uncle went viewing it before it was sold , You,ve got yourself a great coach! good luck.
Sounds not only smooth but, you can hear that immense power that engine has got. I have heard many coaches pass me over the years aswell as ridden on them. & it seems that only a few sound grunty enough to make tgem sound like they do have the power to do what they are ment to do ( carry it's passengers in shear comfort & smoothly. Many coaches do this but, only a very few do it like this VANTOOL does 😳😉👍
Great to watch when we are all house bound and cant get out to drive the beasts
I don't drive (except on simulators on my phone and kindle) but nice to know how fantastic old vehicles used to sound, thanks for sharing 🙂👍!
Great!
thats a lovely bit of driving, I particularly appreciate the double declutching! My dad always told me to drive like that and I still do, I'm only 24 :')
Me too, I’ve been driving for 25 years!
Are you double declutching when changing down gears ?.
that coach sounds like it has a str8 thru exhaust on it? sounds epic
is this still around :)
Nice drive. Reminds me of my B10M at work. Being a mechanic my exhaust is a little similar, single box conversion using a javelin silencer. Give it’s a certain bark
Very cool!
Superb video, people at work seem to hate these or any B10M in general! I'm the only one who actually likes taking the Premiere out!
What tripod or set up was this to hold the camera on the handrail?
This was a window suction mount, but I have now moved on to using a proper ‘pole clamp’ which gives better results.
@@jatkin3110 Thank you :) Who makes these pole clamps?
does it have power steering?
That sounds absolutely hellfire! Is it running the standard exhaust or is it straight piped from the turbo?
Standard exhaust, developed a little blow on the S-pipe!
@@jatkin3110 sounds sweet 😂
These things straightpiped just bark and grunt and snort like all hell
Here in Brazil we had Volvo B10M until the end of 2003 and only in Euro 2 emission standards, since Brazil only started to follow Euro 3 standards in 2006. In Europe, did Volvo B10M manufacture under Euro 3 standards? If so, do you have a video link to see about the B10M Euro 3?
Yes, we had Euro 3 B10M’s up till 2002.
They had a DH10A engine fitted - which was basically a THD102 but with Bosch EDC fuel system, different compression ratio and fire rings on the Pistons.
@@jatkin3110 Is this Volvo B10M in the video Euro 2 or Euro 3 standard?
@@evertoncostagoltara Euro 0!
I bet it can do well over 70mph.
I actually wonder what the 0-60 time in these is. The few i have been in were pokey enough
I could tell you a few stories about what we used to get up to in Cummins engined Tigers that would make your hair stand on end!
@@jatkin3110 id believe it. Back then engines were raw and untamed
@@jatkin3110 100mph is supposed to be achievable, I heard.
Come on man, it has a seat belt...
B10m vanhool no finer tool
THD100E?
THD101, this is a very early Mk3 B10M
Sounds like it has fruity exhaust on ot to
do u have facebook?
