This was THE hardest song I've ever recorded on drums, but I'm so happy that I got to be a part of this cover with my friend, the one and only Erik Grönwall.
This guy has pipes like no one else. Serious power! Not to mention the hard-hitting production by master Jona Tee and the spot-on solo by Love Magnusson.

I've been a Priest fan for over 44 years, and I have to say, "I've listened to this version 60 + times in the last three weeks". You guys nailed the vibe on this one.

As a huge Judas Priest fan, I usually expect the worst when I see someone attempting to do a cover to this song but you guys killed it.

It is pretty damn amazing that Grönvall has the vocal range to cover BOTH Rob Halford and Sebastian Bach.

Jaw dropping…..best Painkiller cover bar none. Vocals and guitars absolutely spot on.
As someone who has listened to Painkiller thousands of times, from the first time putting the saw toothed CD in my car, this is one best covers I have heard. True to the original with only minor additions. All the musicians did and outstanding job.
But is it as good as the Death cover? 😉

Did we even listen to the same song? This was trash. Nothing compared to the original. Nothing even close to Rob. Hell, even Polish Metal Alliance did a ridiculously better job. Clearly all your "listened to thousands of times" was bullshit.
@@Isnogood12 Everyone is entitled to their opinion, you are correct on some aspects, he is not Rob, can't do what Rob can do but IMO a pretty good rendition. I like this version better then some other priest classics that have been recently redone, for example the Saxon version of "You've got another thing coming" doesn't work for me. Thanks for the tip the Polish Metal alliance version I will check it out. No way to prove or disprove my listening, but I can say I saw Painkiller tour, just can't remember if it was at Palace of Auburn hills or Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo. Painkiller was for sure on my mp3 mix cd in my car, and then on mp3 player, and now on my usb stick where it plays regularly. If it comes up once a month for 33 years its just shy of 400, but it was lot in the 90's when I was in college.

I saw Skid Row open for the Scorpions last year. This dude was perfection. I had heard he was good, but man, he could sing. I loved that show due to him.
From leukemia to Skid Row to this......goosebumps deluxe. All hail Erik, the band kicks ass and Love is totally in the zone.
Not only he nails the cover, but also doesn't limit himself to emulating Rob Halford, but puts his blend of singing the song without defacing it. Plus, man does he look great!

Iam going to state the obvious that is the best cover or tribute version i have ever heard.
Eriks vocal was excellent / the band are tight. The lead guitar work on that track sounds (to my ears) to be note perfect and executed with equal amounts finesse and style. Seriously good musicianship displayed by the whole band.

Not saying the guy isn't good there's a lot of guys from that country that seem like they can sing really well I'm just saying heavy metal to be fair is not at its peak any longer. He's never going to reach the stature of a Rob halford or a Bruce Dickinson etc. Those days are long gone.

Wow. Erik, not only you managed to top the original (which yes, it's obviously one of the best metal tunes ever) but also added some even better bits. It's hard to find the right words to do justice for succeeding on an almost impossible mission and I am not a native English speaker but I'll tell you this: Fortunately I am not a vocalist otherwise I'd be seriously intimidated :) I can bet my house that vocal wise we won't experience a better cover.
