    IMPORTANT FAQ
    -------------------
    How long are you keeping them in there for?
    I’m keeping them in that setup for only a month or two. I want to monitor their weight, feeding, and general health before being moved to a larger setup.
    -------------------
    What about places to climb?!?
    Very soon after this video’s release, I realized that the geckos did not have enough arboreal opportunities. I added sticks and taller plants to give them more places to climb!
    -------------------
    What did you do for the lid?
    I’m using a mesh lid along with a small fan on top of it to ensure good air circulation.
    -------------------
    What do you feed the geckos?
    I feed them CGD (Crested Gecko Diet) and fruit flies dusted with supplements

    You should have mentioned the cool thing about mourning geckos and how they breed! For those who don't know, all of these geckos are FEMALE and when you have two together they lay little clones of themselves via parthenogenesis. I also would have added some vertical cork bark or wood for them to climb on. I really love your setup though! I love paludariums with multiple species in them. subscribed for sure!

    Although it's appropriate, I do love the small terrariums for the tiny little gecko. It just looks better and it's not overwhelming for it either. I think it would be cool to have a lot of geckos in the big terrarium if you're willing. I'm doing the same with mystery snails in my tank 😅

    First thought: What a cool vivarium. I want one! Second thought: What a cool tap (fawcet). I want one!
    I *love* the whole setup. I never knew you could do this outside of a zoo or something. Thank you for sharing this

    It is a beautiful set up, the only issue I have is you only provided the plants as something to hide underneath, and as morning geckos are arboreal they have absolutely nothing to climb on except for the glass. Maybe next time include something with some height so they can have a feeling of security of not being on the ground

    • @TheDrPlants
      @TheDrPlants  Před 2 lety +3

      Thank you and you are very much correct. The plants I put in there all grow vertically and fairly quickly. They will act as climbing space for the geckos. In the meantime, I will definitely add in some sticks to give them climbing opportunities.

      And where is the UV Lamp? I dont get why reptiles are treated so badly in all countries except germany. Vivariums are way to small, no UVB light, no correct air exchange. Humidity level? Wayne. Ah i know the answer. U think its just an animal, its wayne how it feels...

    • @TheDrPlants
      @TheDrPlants  Před 2 lety +1

      @@xwernerder2teD All of my animals are treated with proper care. These geckos do not have a UV lamp and it is a controversial subject. I feed them with a varied died and with supplements. This tank which you say is too small is only a grow out tank. I have a 50 gallon tank awaiting them. While they are babies, I keep them in smaller enclosures so I can target feed them and monitor their health. When it comes to proper air exchange, I have a mesh lid on their enclosure as well as a small fan on top that keeps constant air movement. Please do not make false accusations. I respect and appreciate your concerns though

    Bruh this is friggin awesome! I’ve been doing mild research here and there over viveriums and terrariums over the years and still in the process of deciding where to start. I think this tiny setup you got and having a 50gal tank to move up too is where I’m at rn. Any recommendations before getting all the necessary materials?

    • @TheDrPlants
      @TheDrPlants  Před 2 lety

      I definitely recommend not adding animals to a setup as small as this. It’s much harder to maintain humidity and proper airflow for a beginner. Also, for your 50 gallon tank, I actually have a video on how I built mine! It was also 50 gallons! I think it has a few topics that could definitely help you out!

  • @TheSnarkyPrincess
    @TheSnarkyPrincess Před 2 lety +13

    Do you pop the cork top back in the jar, or use another secure “lid” to keep your mourning geckos contained? This is so fascinating!

    • @TheDrPlants
      @TheDrPlants  Před 2 lety +4

      I’m using a mesh lid along with a small fan on top of it to ensure good air circulation. And thank you!
