Michael Jordan Famous "Con Man" Revenge game On Jeff Van Gundy and The Knicks - 51 Pts!

  • Michael Jordan didn't like Jeff Van Gundy calling him a con man, and he didn't like the New York Knicks thinking they could beat the Chicago Bulls. So Jordan responded to the challenge the way he knows best, scoring 51 points | Van Gundy, in his first full season as the Knicks' coach, said recently that Jordan tries to "con" fellow NBA players into thinking he's their friend."His way is to befriend them, soften them up, try to make them feel he cares about them," Van Gundy said. "Then he goes out there and tries to destroy them. The first step as a player is to realize that and don't go for it."
The comments resurfaced in Tuesday's Chicago Tribune, where Jordan saw them.
"It was probably a tactical mistake by the coach of the Knicks to attack Michael in the press. I thought he went out and played with a vendetta, a score to settle," Bull Coach Phil Jackson said.

After Jordan reached the 51-point mark with a 20-foot, fade-away jumper over Houston--giving the Bulls an 88-81 lead with 26.7 seconds left--he yelled at Van Gundy.
"Some choice words," Jordan said. "I guess I didn't make any friends out there tonight."
Jordan said Van Gundy's comments were misguided.
"I think they were more geared to motivating his players. But I don't think, on the court, they have befriended me," said Jordan, who counts New York's Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley as friends.
"I don't go on the court expecting to make friends. But when I leave the court, I don't take what happened on the court away from me. We're only playing a game. I don't view it as a war away from the game. If he feels like I take advantage of my friends, that's fine."
The league's all-time leader in points per game, Jordan was 18 for 30 from the floor, including five for eight from three-point range, and 10 for 11 from the line. The rest of the Bulls shot 35% from the floor, and Jordan scored 12 of the Bulls' 14 fourth-quarter points.

I mean he literally changed a franchise overnight and drug a team of guys you've never heard of to the playoff in an era of the greatest players ever. Lebron was able to win with loaded rosters in the most depleted conference in sports over the last ten years. Seriously what competition has there been in the east for the last decade. Literally every time a team got good enough to challenge them their star player got hurt. Rose, George, Thomas, Irving.

This is just more proof there is no one better than Jordan. He literally destroyed the Knicks by himself because Van Gundy called him a Con Man. We have great players today, but this is the "Greatest" at his best. Just pure determination and passion, though driven by anger, lol. Today have great teams players, but they use to create teams just to beat Jordan personally in the 90's. Not the Bulls, but Jordan personally. And he beat all of them and made it look easy. Think about that during the next GOAT debate. Also remember, he left for a couple years, played baseball, came back and destroyed them all again when he changed his number back to 23 from 45, lol. I think the number 23 should be the new lucky 13

The pick of Hakeem Olajuwon was defensible but not Sam Bowie no matter how you slice it up even though the Blazers had Drexler already and it wasn't defensible then either. It was one of those "Well, we have a shooting guard so time to get a center." Those were the days when everyone felt you had to have a center to win and it's why franchises often get stuck because they stick to old theories rather than just getting the most talented guy and if they play the same position then figure it out from there. Drexler and Jordan might now have worked great together but you would have had a great trade chip plus the best player ever combined with another all-time great shooting guard, you find a way to make it work.

I don't understand, me and my best friend compete and on some occasions have gotten in heated arguments on the court playing 1 on 1 and we stopped talking to each other for a lil while yet we're still friends like idc if ur friends or teammates when u get on the court it ain't friendly on the court that's for sure. Why did VanGundy feel the need to bring up this topic I will never understand was he upset MJ was hurting his players feeling what a joke Vangudy was.

Mj is psycho. He’s looking for motivation. He even sometimes made some fake enemies to motive him. He said he’s cursed by the competitiveness. Kobe is similar. But only on court. Mj is on off court.

Best move at 5.25 vs Allen Houston who was a very good player too. Used to watch this on vhs and Jordan is the reason I learned to shoot jumpers. We all imitated his moves...just imagine being 17 on 1990. That guy changed our lives. Goat

When people say he couldn't shoot the 3 pointer...
He could do everything he wanted in the Court
