I could kiss you right now! This piece is the reason I started playing Cello. I had a teacher for about two years but he invested time in technique. We never got to chords before I had to leave Argentina. When I came back he was out of reach. I´ve been trying to play this for over four years on my own and you made it very simple. Thank you very much. Indeed
I love how you are boom boom boom through the videos and repeat your instructive points. Great for us a.d.h.d. pepes! thanks for taking time to do these videos.
YOU ARE A NATURAL STORY TELLER ...BUT TELLING THE TRUE I AM DEFINTELY WILL WATCH AND CHECK EVERY KIND OF INFORMATION YOU HAVE DONE GREAT JOD ABIGAIL GREAT JOB!!!!
I have played cello for four years (I'm in 7th grade now) and I have gotten the hang of this by referencing your video and practicing everyday :) thank you so much
Abigail, thanks so much for your videos. I'm an adult student nearly two years into playing and I find your lessons really excellent. Obviously you've had lots of experience teaching - your explanations are always very clear and helpful.
I have come back to 'cello playing after 35-40 years (long story). Thank heavens for teachers like you. Watching you and listening to your advice is inspirational. Thank you.
I just want to say thank you so very very much! I have been practicing the cello for about 3 weeks now .. no I don't know anything about the cello I do have a cello book and I get all my information right now from CZcams I actually followed your lead and I really surprised myself thanks you🎸
Would really like to see the entire thing broken down, in the same way you do the first 8 measures here. This has been a fantastic tool for me as a Cello noob. Thanks, this was great.
I want to thank you so much for your videos. They are helping me so much to learn how a piece can be played better. Is it perhaps possible to produce a student video also for the süite number 3. Thanks once more...
Was it you on The Chase? If so, I first happened upon Hans Zimmer in the 80s in a band called Helden with Warren Cann, the Canadian drummer in Ultravox. One of my favourite songs of all time.
Abigail, my struggle with the Bach suite is that my bow is uneven, sort of jerky, and I have difficulty making all the sixteenth notes even and smooth. Do you have a suggestion for how to work on making it fluid, or another of your videos you can point me to? I'm working on the C Major Prelude right now, but I think it applies to a lot of them. I've always been intimidated about working on the Suites because I feel so naked and exposed, any imperfections in technique glaringly clear!
I don't think I can identify one favorite piece. There's just too much great music out there. However, if we are talking exclusively about solo cello music, the Kodaly sonata and the Prelude of the 6th Bach suite would definitely have to be included among my favorites.
That depends what you mean by learn. A beginner may be able to hack through the notes, but to play it well, you'd need several years worth of cello-playing experience at least. Sorry to disappoint, but as a beginner you'd probably be better off with beginning repertoire.
CA Relic Adventures w/ Ron Swenson & Mark Dayton I'd say just go for it. It's encouraging to be playing a piece you love even if you don't sound perfect till a few years later. I first played this piece 4 months after I picked up the cello.
Why don't you just describe the difference between french and german editions, and explain the difference? And btw, very few editions do not slur the last half of page two.
Nice tips for beginners perhaps in theory, but sensitivity is sorely lacking in the playing :/ sorry to criticize. I'd would love to see you develop sensitivity rather than the plowing volume.... Keep at it. :)

houstonannie I don't think the C major prelude is the place to start...especially if you can't keep the 16ths nice
Loved the video. I just stated learning this piece.
I am learning cello. Love your video Thanks a lot ^^
If I ever saw a cello in half, I will consider your advice.

My only problem is playing at the tip of my fingers and getting the bow to glide smoothly. Would you happen to have any tips that could help?
Amazing!! Thank you for the advise!! :D :D

Thank you, very good video.
Good video
What kind of cello works better on the bach prelude?
Privet i spasiba
kool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
grazia!
what is the fingering you used at the begining?
You might want to listen to Inbal Segev's tutorial on this piece.
Why ? I generally find what she says vague and not helpful.
Hello Abigail, my cello does not give any sound when i play with the bow. What is the problem to fix, thank you love ya
try rosin
Do not ever apply a lot of rosin at once, apply a little bit every once in a while. But having no rosin is definitely your problemףידאל בלו
no I played it and it was my 3day ever playing the cello
georgelina medina you must be lying... I’m in my 3rd year and still learning it...
Aren't you gonna play the whole suite only if you're not doin' any student videos?
You could just buy all 81 editions and then pick and choose.....
For a beginner how long would this take to learn??
That depends what you mean by learn. A beginner may be able to hack through the notes, but to play it well, you'd need several years worth of cello-playing experience at least. Sorry to disappoint, but as a beginner you'd probably be better off with beginning repertoire.
CA Relic Adventures w/ Ron Swenson & Mark Dayton Yeah... fist crawl.. then walk.. then run... then... 42k Marathon
CA Relic Adventures w/ Ron Swenson & Mark Dayton I'd say just go for it. It's encouraging to be playing a piece you love even if you don't sound perfect till a few years later. I first played this piece 4 months after I picked up the cello.

can you give me online cello lessons??

Das ist eingebildet und affektiert, der Ton ist nicht schoen, Strichart nicht authentisch.
