2:32- it’s funny that you mentioned the Lion King , because the actors who played Eddie Murphy’s parents in this also played Simba’s parents in The Lion King.
Eddy Murphy ability to play different characters is unmatched. One of my favorite comedian/actor.
“His mama named him Clay, ima call ‘em Clay.”😂😂😂
The kid in the barber shop chair was cuba gooding jr he was Tre in boys in the hood. This is one of those movies I never get tired of this movie. Sexual Chocolate is the best band ever.
MJ,. you been on a role with the movie choices. This is absolutely my favorite movie all-time. I've seen it hundreds of times and still love watching it.
Stu, the guy who throw himself down the stairs, is played by Eddie Murphy's real life uncle Ray Murphy!
I didn't know that tbh
Niice
Do Dreamgirls next. It is one of Eddie Murphy's best performance. Also, the actors who played Murphy's parents in Coming to America played Simba's parents in The Lion King. Paula Abdul was the choreographer for the film
And also RIP to Madge Sinclair, Louie Anderson and Montrose Hagins (she played Darryl's grandmother in the movie)
I thought it was cool having both her and James Earl Jones not only play Eddie's parents, but also the voices of Simba's mom and dad in Original Lion King.
🗣️“YES, IN THE FACE!!”😂😂
Dat boy goooodddd….😂😂 😂
Yeah good and terrible
"That boy good!"
Randy Watson is probably my favorite Eddie-in-makeup character. The way he stomps off stage is so funny to me 🤣🤣🤣 "Sexy Chocolate!!!"
Eddie also does a lot of characters in Vampire in Brooklyn.
That boy good. Good and terrible. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
James Earl Jones is the King. He also played Mufasa in Lion King. When he comes to America, he wears a lion. So if you think about it, Mufasa is wearing Mufasa.
Simba's mother was voiced by Madge Sinclair, who also played Akeems mother in Coming to America
And props to Busta Rhymes for paying homage to Coming to America for the music video of his song Put Your Hands Where You Can See
1. They killed the multiple roles.
2. The appearance of the Dukes is an "Easter egg" from "Trading Places".
3. "I'll just tell you one time, if you want to keep working here, you have to stay off the drugs." 🤣
4. James Earl Jones AND John Amos! GMAFB😎😎😁😁
5. A movie featuring John Amos worth a first time/share is "The Beastmaster".
Every person in that barbershop was either Eddie Murphy or Arsenio Hall
My mom told me that I would recite the lines from the barbershop scene 🤦🏽♀️ at 2 years old cussing up a storm 😂
😂
My favorite part when he said damn that boy can sing 😂😂because he lied 😂
Do Vampire in Brooklyn hun 🍿
Fr
Definitely this here!
Yessss!
This the one!
Yessss
Fun fact: "That's that shit" by Snoop Dogg sampled the "the royal penis is clean your highness" scene
26:43 Kunta Kinte is a reference to the show & books, Roots. Where there is a white man who calls a black man Tobey & the black man corrects him by telling him that his name is in fact Kunta Kinte.
It waa a little more to that. He was an enslaved African from the Mandinka tribe. They bought him and changed his name, when he refused to acknowledge the name Toby they whipped him into submission.
Played by Levar Burton 👍
This movie still is hilarious back in 89' when my Uncle came from the movies and had tears 😢 in his eyes laughing.
When I see this movie, now I see the Busta Rhymes' "Put your hand where my eyes could see" video
And, THAT CAST ❤️
Champagne? The trick is to hold the cork with one hand and rotate the bottle while holding it from the base. The cork pops right off with zero effort.
Hands down one of the funniest movies in history Arsenio and Eddie got that perfect chemistry. Then all the other special appearances if u know u know.
"JUST LET YOUR SOOOOOOOOOOUL...GLOOOOOOW WOOOO!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Eddie Murphy was 26 yrs old at the time making this movie
this is one of my favorites of all time i remember when to see it back in 1988.
MJ is hilarious does great reactions. Now I gotta go watch this movie again even though I've seen it a hunnit times
That was a young Cuba Gooding Jr before Boyz n the hood in the barber chair. He was 20 years old. It was great to see him and Samuel L Jackson in this movie.
21:20 Director F Gary Gray (Friday, Set It Off) appears as an extra in front of the barbers in the middle.
30:00 Eddie Murphy’s brother Vernon’s Lynch is in the red hat
I remember watching this in Theaters with my Family
We definitely gotta get you to watch Harlem Nights
John Amos was known to laugh like that when he was on the show Good Times. Lol
“There’s a God somewhere” 😂
❤❤❤❤❤💐💐💐💐💐💐💐🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥MJ and that's all I got to say. Keep this up and by 2030 I will call you the greatest CZcams of all time
The music of Ladysmith Black Mambazo is incredible. They're from South Africa, which I visited for a month in 1999. We went to Addo Elephant Park and saw them up close. It was stupendous, and of course I remember it always. I got lots of good pics.
Another late night session to a timeless classic 😊...Mane im still waiting for your "1994 Fresh" reaction whenever you finally check that junt out 💀
Just in case if you don't recognize him, Eddie also plays Saul, the old white Jewish guy in the barbershop.
I know you definitely won't forget this movie. This movie is too hilarious. 😂😂😂😂😂
A lot of these references are definitely true in this time period, but not so much in today's world. Miss the 80's and the 90's as well.
🗣️“SEXUAL CHOCOLATE !!!”
“Yes! In the face!”
MJ Awesome Video Today!!🔥🐐🐐💎
The first song in the club scene was Eddie Murphy's song. That's him singing
Wait until she watches Vampire In Brooklyn
This is a good movie
8:12 - 8:17
Arsenio ain’t even try to do the fake ass African accent, 😂
Forever to be one of his classic movie
1970s and 80s nyc was gully hood savage. Heroine and crack epidemic. My mom was in her teens and 20s 😂
37:53 gang shidd 💯😂😂
Eddie is the old White Guy too,Eddie plays 4 characters in this movie if you count the Prince
Good reaction
Made me.laugh when you said big guy was like human version of sponge bob.. so true. Until next 1 ✌️
Watching it again even though i watched it on patreon idc lol ❤
The dumbest thing about the King was when he said to not let Akeem know he was there, like he wasn't gonna see them roses
Coming to America is a great Eddie Murphy classic.
Coming to America is the ultimate classic comedy film that made Eddie Murphy an even bigger star! A actor playing multiple characters was rare back then. It solidified Eddie Murphy as a comedic genius.
There is a castle in Lexington KY
Gotta watch the second one
Yes, now look at Trading Places & Vampire In Brooklyn 🙏🏿
Always watch Eddie Murphy movies in chronological order.
Fun Fact
Paula Abdul did the dance choreography for this movie.
eddie is playing several parts in coming and arsenio hall is playing different parts as well.
Amazing reaction to Coming to America!!
Coming to America my favorite movie thank mj
There's a react sequel that came out called Coming 2 America and a show based on Coming to America.
Great review! Side note: It's not a leopard or Jaguar on Akeem's shoulder (at the wedding). It looks an ocelot (which are not native to any African country)
That was Cuba gooding Jr. getting he's hair cut in the barbershop scene MJ
awesome movie. i thought queens when he said NY. the police escort was for the expensive package, that is an option. surprised no body knows that.
❤
You need to watch Eddie's Trading Places , 1983, first to get the two homeless white men ref in this 1987 movie
Loved the reaction.
To be honest, MJ, those of us who want a real and lasting relationship are just looking for someone to stimulate our intellect and not just our loins. A decent conversation is quickly becoming a lost art, I'm afraid.
The cookout and coming to america part 2
Yeah, Eddie Murphy! Coming to America is a riot. I love this movie and happy to see you have reacted to it! Question MJ, did you notice how many roles Eddie Murphy played in this? Quite a few.
Eddie Murphy was 27 years old when he did Coming to America, and only 19 years old when he joined the cast of Saturday night live.
You should check out the Sequel “Coming 2 America” on cool thing about The King and Queen played another King and Queen here in 1988 later on in 1994 The Lion King as Mufasa and Sarabi
Yay!!
I hope you do know that Eddie played most of the characters in this movie!
Damn I wish I was Peter Parker
i recommend to watch lean on me with morgan freeman
