    Coach Izzo is a true leader! He knows how to win and lose. The young men he leads are better human beings because of that. Keep leading Coach Izzo (and this is from a Wisconite and Badgers fan).

    I am from Alabama and an Alabama fan, I am a high school basketball coach going on 24 years, I could listen to this man talk for hours upon hours, he has always been a favorite not because he is a great basketball coach, which he is, but because of the kind of man he is. Any kid that has ever played for Coach Izzo, consider yourself blessed!!!

    The players battle each other thru the game, pushing, setting picks, grabbing, fouling, and now because of some hot head they don't think they can be men enough to shake hands without a fight. Izzo is so right, it is a TEACHABLE moment. If you can't be a good looser, you will never be a great winner.

    As a former college asst. I agree big time with Coach Izzo. What Howard did should Teach your Children how not to be as a leader. What guys like Izzo, Larry Brown, Roy Williams ,Coach K, have done shall be taken serious. And learn from those men. Coaches are Teachers. Not people that just start swinging. You should teach these kids how to be a 1st Class citizen. I love it Tom!!

    As a person who played sports and coaching as well I always love to go shake someones hand that beat me I want to congratulate them no hard feelings. It honestly makes me feel good after a loss to just hear from the guy who beat me "good game" it's a respect thing I also as a winner love to hear congrats from a person I beat and pay them respect. Probably the worst thing weve seen latly is people not being able to suck up a loss the Michigan thing and heavyweight title fight are good examples

    Awhile back, Jerry Kramer released a multi-CD set of excerpts from tape recordings he made for his books on the Green Bay Packers. In the Super Bowl II pre-game talk, Vince Lombardi goes over the players line for the national anthem as if he is describing a play. And in training camp, Bud Grant would have an anthem drill -- players were taught how to stand at attention.

    Be Humble in Victory and Defeat. As the LEADER of any group, look in the mirror first for being accountable for your actions. Little eyes are watching, am I representing what I want my players to be? It truly is a sad day for college basketball when any coach would take a swing at somebody, regardless of the circumstance.

      if a person grabs you and makes you talk to them, what are you going to do ? There are plenty of coaches that do blow bys (not shake a hand or two ) at the end of games, does a person have the right to grab you?

      @33run4life Před 2 lety

      @@williamgoodlett4938 I get what you are saying. I felt Gard could have just kept walking but it does not justify Howard throwing a punch/slap at the assistant...especially as the leader of the Michigan Program. In my humble opinion.

    In soccer, they use handshake lines at the start of the game to eliminate these issues. Therefore, if players want to engage after the contest, they do it on their own accord.

    He'll never do it, BUT THIS IS who I want to replace Boeheim, everybody up here seems to want Pitino, no way. My second fav coach, my second fav team is Mich St., historically the class of Big 10 basketball ( Purdue deserves credit too). When Boeheim and Izzo clash it's always epic!!! JUST A WISH, NEVER HAPPEN, LOL.

    Coach Izzo is someone who I'd want my kids to be coached from. Juan Howard came a long way from his days in Michigan and NBA as a person. It was a horrible display of.... he's a role model to these kids. Next year his son is gonna be on his team, and he knows he can't be doing that. I'm sure Howard regrets this with every ounce of his cell.

    If I had any bball talent I would want to play for Izzo. Yea you are going to get coached hard, prob find out you are not as good as you thought you were. But, if you stick with him he will get the most out of the talent you have. You will leave the program a better player on the Court and better person off the court.

    I’m a Badger fan and a Wisconsin alum. A couple of weeks ago MSU came to Madison put a beat down on Bucky. They just played better. Everyone shook hands as normal and exchanged small talk at the end, very classy. The other Michigan coach should take a lesson from that.

    We shouldn't do the handshake line because it is dumb to begin with. The whole "because we have always done it that way" thing is the dumbest reason to do anything. Izzo gets his players to do thuggish things in game like what happened last year with Ayo Dosunmu and now wants to preach good sportsmanship? I call BS. It's time for old hats like Izzo to retire if he doesn't like changes.
