  • In this video I take a look at a faulty $0.97 solar garden light. I fix the light and take a look at how the circuitry in the light is set up.

    Nice :) those cheap garden lights are interesting, they're pretty useful for parts though if you needed since they're cheap and have some useful components.

      I never thought about buying these things for parts but its not a bad deal for what you get.

    The voltaic cell has a photoresistor and that is technically your switch because it opens or closes the circuit

    You can use Google Translate App in the phone - camera mode for on the fly translation. ;)

      Left Block (in Japanese English - Jenglish):
      "YX8019 lights LED stably with one or two 1.25V rechargeable batteries. When the solar light hits the solar battery, it charges the rechargeable battery and turns on the LED with the charged rechargeable battery at night, switching automatically."
      Right Block:"
      Features:
      High efficiency: 80-90%
      less Peripheral parts: Only one inductor
      Low-voltage battery protection function
      Inductor current adjustment
      Package: TO-94
      "
      Table:
      "Lx - Switch Drain
      CE - Solar battery negative electrode, EN control/charge control
      VDD - solar battery positive

      0307 and 0410 are Packages of the component itself. By choosing inductors you can set current. ;)

      Thank you. I tried the translate app I just had the wrong language. 😂

    I've been trying to find information on exactly how much power those particular solar lights have put out and you just gave me some of it do you mind actually doing a more in depth on what the solar panel actually puts out and how much the other components contribute to the power put into the battery the more information the better we can do projects

      @Eman2000  Před rokem +1

      If I still had all the circuitry I would. Would get another one, but they are likely won't be back in stores around here for anther 5 months of so.

      @@Eman2000 thank you for responding, that is absolutely fine what we're trying to do is get the most information confirm that the solars even though at low power are more light sensitive by knowing exactly how many amps milliamps and voltage these things can put out we have a project to share with everyone, I'm trying to put a little team together to talk about projects like this and how I believe that I can take it to the next step so when they come back into season please tell us what you found out or make another video thumbs up

    If I put in an Energizer battery would it work better or would it mess it up

    Hi, thanks for the video. I use these for lights on the top of my fence posts in the back yard. Just drilled a hole in the top of the fence post, added some sealent to the hole, and then inserted them just exactly as you have them here in the video. I have been lucky, all 25 of them have worked for over 6 months now without any issue. That is not the norm and often there are issues with them fairly quickly. I appreciate the video and i will dig deeper as to why they dont work next time one goes out. I believe you said that the board should have some kind of thermal paste on it to last longer, is that the same kind of thermal paiste one might use on a computer build? If not can you reply with what kind of paste to use on that board?

    • @isaiah4478
      @isaiah4478 Před 2 lety +1

      Not thermal paste. Conformal coating to help prevent corrosion clear nail polish works too. Also using dielectric grease all over the board and in the switch will also help.

      You can also add one of those small desiccant bags like you find in pill bottles to help keep moisture and the resulting corrosion out.

    Update here, the ones i found in the yard (not on fence) that were not on were wet, i dried them out and removed the spiders inside and also checked the continuity between the sets of wires, that checked out ok. But the batteries are dead, so does that mean that the batteries are bad? Also one of them comes on when i bang it on the counter and then goes off, i took it apart and everything looks good, battery is tight and no lose wires and terminals are clean, but still comes on only if i bang it on the counter, then it goes off about 20 sec later, any ideas?

    It's Japanese, not Chinese. I can't translate it though.

      You are right it is Japanese, It is easy to translate by Google Translate - Camera mode. ;)
