Fleming Yachts 65 (2020) - Test Video

- The Fleming 65 was introduced in 2005 to fill in the gap between the company's 55' (16.76 m) and 75' (22.86 m) models. While she looks similar to the 55, the 65 displaces 70% more, making her a much larger feeling boat inside and out.

This is a boat I could never afford but Captain Steve makes me feel like I'm a rich man getting a private tour of a boat I am about to buy. Thank you for the dream.
What a beautiful and elegant boat, a classic design that would have been stunning 30 years ago and will still be stunning in 50 years. This boat will never go out of style.
Capt. Steve - I wish all who show / advertise boats on CZcams had your knowledge and presentation ability. You offer the "master course" to their grade school presentations. Stellar presentation sir!
I much prefer something like this over those obnoxious floating palaces we see so many of. Nice video, thank you.
Fleming makes some incredible vessels. He also makes some amazing films of his adventures... definitely worth a watch. Great review, Captain Steve.
Correct
I understand Captain Steve always know what to say, very knowledgeable.
Yeah the films are incredible.
Captain Steve, Well done! 30 years in the commercial fishing industry... now retired, I'm considering getting back on the water, but for different reasons! I enjoy your walk throughs and straight up descriptions of the equipment onboard! Elaborations on what stands out, but usually, to the point and keeping what you have to show us moving in a manner easy to follow! Thanks!
If I was a multi millionaire this would be my boat! Beautiful and very functional! I loved that picture at the back of the helm area, above the table on the back bulkhead. Beautiful!
I certainly know what boat I'll buy, AFTER WINNING THE LOTTERY! Love the engine room even with the low ceiling!
Every one of Capt. Steve’s boat tours makes me wanna cry! Why? Because I’ll never afford one of these ocean-crossers (Fleming, Nordhavn), but his videos are my escape from reality for a few minutes anyway. Thanks Cap’n!
Christopher Kohel thank you Christopher, we really try our best to capture the boat and experience and glad you can find some escape. You should also look into a used boat, you never know what’s out there.
Yet another great video. Thank you so much for doing these videos to such a high standard. It’s great to see you walking around with your tape measure in hand as it’s these little details that makes it so good to watch. Thank you once again
Captain Steve, Love you videos, but this one is another level! Great job and what a fantastic yacht! The detailing and quality just ooze out of every pore of her!
Thanks for leaving comments on this time - gives an opportunity to thank you for the awesome quality reviews. 👍
A beautiful boat with fabulous features and finish; a great choice for anyone who is looking to do some distance cruising. 👌
Thanks so much!
Thus has to be the " Rolls Royce" of ocean crossing yachts. Huge fan here.
Fleming are beautiful boats.
This boat can barely cross a river and would never cross an ocean. It has NO LEGS. 1700 gallons, maybe 1700 knots. There are no fuel docks in the middle of the Atlantic or the Pacific. It's just an over hyped plastic boat.
Lovely boat. Thank you for showing all those cupboards.
Seems suitable for quarantine.
Captain Steve, I appreciate your thorough reviews and having the 2 separate videos on each boat.
.. I'm stuck in East Texas (inland) with family duties to my now adult autistic sons (who I'm sure would LOVE the ocean breezes when we finally have the chance). .. The oldest has a favorite boat, a PT boat, lol. But the youngest has already given his approval to a nice, long Fleming. 😊
.. I love the Portuguese bridge and the nice, classic limousine-like profile of a Fleming. And a flying bridge on any boat gives more outdoor space for when a person needs a little "elbow-room" away from other family members.
Wow..my dad..may he R.I.P knew what he was telling me to purchase! Thanks again Captain Steve
A great review on a fantastic boat. Who could not love a Fleming. Thanks
Thanks Captain Steve!.... Your videos are a pleasure to watch and the knowledge is second to none!. God Bless!!!
Captain Steve .. you're reviews are the best !!
Captain Steve I would like to congratulate you on the best boat descriptive video I've ever seen. From the information given I could go and buy the yacht with out a visit, but of course I would visit first.
Your comment about drainage of the chain wash position was great and to the point, though I would have the scurvy crew aim the wash hose to catch the chain as it breaks water. But I do realize that good scurvy crew might be hard to find in some parts of the world.
I have seen a few of your other video but put this one right up there on top, thanks for that.
Safe sailing.
Stunning boat, great review. Laughed a little bit when you said ohh he’s got my tape haha.
Stay safe Tom
Great tour of a great boat. Would love to see a full tour of the Fleming 85.
Flemmings are very popular down here in Australia. Up and down the coast and off to NZ, Fiji and beyond without any worries. Too bad I can't afford a RR of the sea, maybe a used 55 one day... Nice video Capt Steve.
very well designed and engineered vessel. Thumbs up for the naval architect and the shipyard.
Amazing review, Captain. Thank you. 👊🏻👌🏻
She's a fine boat great job in showing her as well mate . Now I want one
These look brilliant.
I am about 5 years away from retirement, at that point we will be boat shopping, Flemming is at the top of the list, pricey sure, but boy do they know how to build a boat.
Do it!! ; )
Outstanding Boat, Flemings are awesome, and another outstanding Video test by Capt.Steve .. BZ!
From the Video's on the Fleming Yacht channel which i have seen them all . You know that if you buy a Fleming it's Money well spent and they offer excellent VFM [ Value for Money ] ... you don't need to spend over the odds .. to enjoy cruising the sea
And the owner of Fleming Yachts still has IMHO The best Yacht travel videos uploaded by far .....
I've been waiting for this awesome review for years. It's Fleming which got me into watching and wanting yachts, and to finding Capt. Steve's channel. I've watched every video since. I've re-watched the Hatteras GT70 video about 15 times. It's 1900 nm St. George's to the Azores, and 2100 nm San Francisco to Honolulu. I know that b/c of BoatTEST and Fleming. Someday....
Thank you so much!
Being a big fan of privacy I love how this large boat does not require a captain/crew.
My thoughts exactly. Big, roomy, and easy to operate on your own.
Well thought out boat. And appears to be a couple or even solo operated at least on short runs. Awesome!
Comments!! I can’t afford any of the boats you show but I love the videos regardless
Perfect size!! Great video.
thats what she said!
Incredible features. I wish capt steve could do a review of my 20 year old boat.
I love this yacht and the video is very good
I'm sorry you absolutely covered everything about range and fuel consumption I love this vessel even more
First time I catch a premiere - greetings from Germany!
Greetings! Hope you enjoy.
You also admire quality. In Reviews and boats.
My number one choice in a 65 footer!
Absolutely beautiful vessel . I would love to own this vessel just I don't think I heard the range. Good job job guys
My favorite yacht builder.
Love it. I want a 58.
Porthand side........🤨 Beautiful vessel, I’ve been on board one similar at Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show. These vessels are really well finished, thanks for sharing.
Awesome and thank you.
Beautiful !!
Awesome built boat!!
Amazing detail on Fleming yachts, the only modification needed is a sturdy stainless steel grab rails running the full length from the stern and along the side bulwarks to the step-up with fishing rod holders spaced out and maxed out at the stern. This will also improve passenger safety under inclement conditions.
Awesome is the word. I really like everything about this boat. Especially the American size BBQ Grill, you need room for American Porterhouse steaks.
Make mine a Rib Eye, please.
Inspires one to live and cruise the Grenadines for years...
As ever a great, thorough review, an incredible boat, but those cleats are a head injury waiting to happen, I know some strength would be forfeited, but could they not be retractable?
Wonderful. I'll take 2!
Capt. Steve, when my uncle bought his 34' PDQ power cat, the manufacturer afforded new owners the opportunity to attend PDQ University for a week to learn all aspects of owning and operating such a yacht. For new owners who really want to understand their yachts, does Fleming offer such a program? Such a gorgeous and well thought out yacht here. And the attention and thought of the details........ Thanks.
As a recently retired newbie in the UK that has just taken his 'Day Skipper' exams, i have been evaluating the type of boat i would settle on. From 'Gin Palaces', to 'Trawlers', if have done them all. From 35ft, to 70ft. We have now settled on the fact that we are slow cruiser kind of people and have settled on the Fleming. This video was a significant factor when deciding the sort of boat we are looking for, so thanks Capt'n Steve, you probably don't know how influential your reviews are.
This is fantastic news Robert! Thank you for sharing your comments and love for boating. You're making a wonderful choice and we thank you for letting us know that we helped in making that big decision. If you don't mind can we add this testimonial on our website? Thank you and keep us posted on your purchase. editorial@boattest.com
You certainly can.....but i'm not cheap......
06:44 that’s a great picture of the owners dogs!
Thanks for this video. And what a great yacht. Redundant systems and seaworthiness at its best! The only thing I doubt is the choice of engines. These MAN, as also similar engines from other brands require to run at rpm’s where the turbos are engaged. Low speed with low engine refs will lead to turbo damages. So nice engines for short distance cruising, but long-distance passage making will kill the turbos. For this smaller engines would be better.
A beautiful vessel - probably my favourite of all, and of course Captain Steve does his usual masterful job of showing it off in a glowing but not blind review. Finally somebody gives the ER headroom numbers - not great, but liveable. The perfect coastal cruiser!
Thank you!
Low center of gravity has consequences for what the ER headroom numbers but monitoring the Fleming way does not need you to proceed to the ER when not necessary ! To me at sea, when the weather is bad, the lower the center of gravity, the better it is !
Amazing.
2 - 21.5KW gens!!! Holy hell! You could run my neighborhood off that boat!
Steve thanks as always. (I so envy your job), i absolutely love this boat, you can stick the floating Gin Palaces. One question, where can i find a list of options? I want to know if i can order a hydraulic swim platform?
Thank you Robert, will let Steve know. Fleming builds about 18 boats a year (approx.) so they're basically custom built to you liking. Do check out our Captain's Report on our website to find more information, and you can directly contact a rep for more details. boattest.com/boat/fleming-yachts/65-2020
I just need to win the lottery 🙏🏻
Same here...LOL
Just beautiful ✨
It has a crane that goes up and down....impressive.
flemming makes a geat yacht very good looking and handles the ocean well... i have watchted the videos made by tony flemming and what he put venture through... the first 65.. i really like the helm seat for two.. which is where the wife and i would be sitting together.. most pilot house boats have either one or two seperate seats and for a couples boat i would want to be able to sit with the admiral closer i really like to have the circuit breakers up in the piolt house and not in the passage way and the wood work is just fabulous a very well made bridge the side decks are very spacious for walking around but i wonder if maybe an options for triming them down abit or going asymetraical to mabybe 24 and 18 would open up a little more space inside .. also the cleats are nice and big and strong looking but could they be receased in a bit to limit their profile? the spacious over hang is really nice and im sure that expands the flybridge quite a bit..the engine room is packed with stuff for sure not sure how excessable it all is .. the cross over pipe on the floor looks like an inventation to stubb a toe .. maybe a smalll ramp would be an idea...the wood tool box is very nice but do we really want someting flamable in the engine room.. one place i would want metal ..love the double seat on the fly brige and the rope work on the destroyer wheel is classic.. i would want a knot of some kind to help with identifying the home or centerline to help with stering when going from lock to lock..as usuall capt steve does a very well made presentiation.. lots of info
Beautiful vessel of that there is no doubt but ; I just have one question, what kind of sea state is she capable of .
Good afternoon. I have a question for you. Would this lovely 65 be able to be docked single handed if need be? Thanks for great videos
Yes!
Waiting for the maps and depth sounders to electronically connect to the autopilot and the throttle and steering.
Nice boat. Problem is: I have a 30 foot cruiser with twin diesels. I'm really crazy about maintenance detais. Can't see any signal of rust or nothing out of order. And it's really hard to take care of my small boat and keep all systems working well! And it demands probably less than 1% of the maintenaince work of a boat like this Fleming. So big and complex. Even not considering costs, it's hard to imagine how dificult is to keep all perfect and clean!
I love boats... all boats and I don't care what anybody says... the Fleming is the most beautiful boat made anywhere in the world. The billionaires can keep their ocean liners... I'd only have one of those so I could sell it, buy a Fleming and keep the change.
Watch Tony Fleming's videos on CZcams of passage making around the Aleutian Islands, Canada, Alaska, the Panama canal, east coast loop of US, talk about the perfect life... just a bit cold :)
My dream? Circumnavigate Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific islands in a Fleming 65.
Love this!
Compared to similar boats of this size and design by other manufacturers can you (or someone else) please share your thoughts on the Fleming 65's fuel efficiency (GPH @ varied KNOTS). Many Thanks!
Joy stick with bow and stern thruster and a station in the cockpit for fishing.
Wonder what it would cost to rent for one year to do a circumnavigation? Would also need a captain and probably another crew to help. Maybe better to consider a slightly larger model...
Does the model with a joystick and station keeping abilities indicate a specific engine type ie Volvo Penta?
I only have 1 issue with Fleming yachts, their love of touch screens. I never get reliable responses from touch screens so I would not go with Fleming while they don't have non touch screen options available.
How long till every button and switch is used ?
Way to go
One question how would you fix anything in that engine room most equipment is not easy excusable?
I question the hull design. I'm no pro by any means but is there any chine on this hull design? That spray is a little much. Please inform me. It doesn't look efficient or maybe I'm thinking in reverse.
Okay, the engine and power rooms, I am really impressed. That's some engineering. This boat has some system for the size.
Flemming 65's are incredible but I just have one worry and maybe I'm missing something obvious.. Is the only way to get into the engine and power rooms is by going through that small hatch on the rear cockpit into the lazarette ? I'm thinking of being out in heavy seas with waves crashing into that cockpit and trying to get through that opening into the lazarette then engine room without a lot of water coming in with me... Maybe I'm over thinking it. I've watched all the Flemming videos and see Venture in rough seas but I've never seen how well the cockpit drains. It's still a magnificent yacht ..
@@billbresnahan9949 I agree. I have been stuck on Fleming as the ONE yacht for passagemaking, single-handed docking, two-handed (couple) cruising, capabilities and redundancies, and Tony Fleming's attention to detail. A stand-up, walk-around engine room, which is a feature of the Fleming 58, is, sadly, not a feature of the 65. I have been looking at Hampton Yachts Endurance boats, and one can access the engine room from inside the boat or from the lazarette, which is such a bonus and way better for the good old lower back as we advance in our own timeline. Added bonus: it's walk-around and stand-up. I do not know, however, whether the Endurance is a passagemaking, ocean-going vessel, and I am waiting to hear their response to my inquiry. I think Captain Steve's boat reviews are the best ones online.
@@billbresnahan9949 I Just have say that if you had to get into the engine room with all those redundant systems in rough seas it would be because you were dead in the water...well just kiss your butt good bye 'cause your going to die anyway regardless of whether you get in to the engine room or not. Over thought? Seems so to me.
Someone once commented on all of the automation / computer power on these Fleming boats and their centralized nature, and suggested that a lightning strike was more of a "when" as opposed to an "if" situation, especially considering the fact that boats spend so much of their time on the water, with an associated increased risk of storms. The person also expressed that in case of a lightning strike it would basically be a matter of "poof", and all that computing power would be gone!! How much backup is provided by Fleming by way of conventional / mechanical systems in a worst case scenario?
very nice boat but I wish more head room in the engine room also looked kind of crowded
Please test the Fleming 78
Lekker man lekker
Yes She is Beautiful ! ✔⛵✔👌
⛵🌎⛵🐬🌎🌠✨❇🌌
Watched a review of the 58ft Fleming and that had a price tag of over $3,000,000 so I'm guessing this 65ft is even more
Fleming use to work for Grand Banks.
Nice engineering.
Are battery switches essays to access?
What extent of mechanical/engineering knowledge do you think is required to passage make on a yacht such as this. I have none so would it be wise to employ an engineer on say a trans Atlantic crossing? Great review and beautiful yacht.
From what I can see, reading comprehension is all that's required. That system on center display at the helm covers everything!
Fleming efit* should have all the data to help less knowledgeable operators resolve any problems.
*Electronic Fleming Information Tablet, an ipad with full documentation that comes with your Fleming.
An engineer is neither necessary nor required. We just did a technical video showing the redundant systems so when one fails, there’s backups. That said, the more hands on you are the better equipped you’ll be. - Capt. Steve.
@@BoatTEST The OP obviously wanted a straight answer. He got one.. Well done Capt. Steve.
This is a superb yacht, truly one of the best in the world.
I think the music mix behind you can get a little loud, it should be barely detectable. I had to fully abandon an earlier video of yours on a Hamilton yacht because the folk guitar music was twice as loud as you, and that was a shame because I was enjoying the look of the yacht and I love your tours. Background music, yes. Nightclub level blaring, no - please.
Thanks for the feedback, and sorry for the annoyance. We do our best to mix our videos well, we have noticed something is happening in the compression. Have a nice day and thanks for watching.
@@BoatTEST aye, I hadn't though about the YT compression. I've heard other YT people complain about that. I'll just add if you do test out your videos before & after upload don't just test on speakers but also test on headphones it can be quite a different experience. Thanks for the thoughtful reply, happy boating.
Want it! Need it! Playing lottery!
How many people do you need to run this boat ?
Curious, has there been a BoatTEST review that gave a boat a bad score? It almost feels like every video is trying to sell that particular boat.
hello what licence do you need to drive this boat...
Dreams are made of Flemming yachts
Very curious for someone to do a review on the 75
Same as this one but 10 feet longer.
How would I get this yacht into the Great Lakes? Mississippi River?
ways-1) Up the Mississippi to rivers that go to Chicago; 2) Up the Hudson through the Erie Canal to Lake Ontario; 3) Through the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.
@@BoatTEST Yes!!! I wish they had boat lifts/portages for up to these size boats to followed along the "Voyageur's Route" from Lake Superior to Lake of the Woods or even to Lake Winnepg and Lake Winnipegosis and out the Hudson Bay. That would be a nice ride/experience through the woodland lakes and rivers of the central Canadian interior.
Love it!! Love it!! Love it!! Unfortunately, the only way I could afford it is to become a corrupt politician!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong: But this review hasn't shown ONE INCH of the inside ... galley salon, cabins, heads ... I guess there's none of all that on this "ocean going vessel" ...?
Ulrich Schnier you are correct, we broke it up into the features review. You can see it on BoatTest.com. Thnaks
