My scepticism about this bit went overboard when you said somebody loves The One Show.
I'm completely opposite, I plan everything around The One Show. How else will I know what mediocre show a low grade actor is about to appear in?
That made me go on a tangent in my brain as well 'there's people who LOVE the one show? 🤔 where are these people? What are their lives like? Does anybody I know love the one show and I just don't know it? What else do they do that's weird? What else are they into?' 🤣🤣
Years ago on the One Show they had a Lady who did some presenting for Gardeners World , who had a very broad Northern accent , on with Michael Stipe
If he ever sees Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway, he'll have a fucking fit.
There's no chance anybody would sit through one of those skits and not be like "fuck offffff" about 10 seconds in.

I can't wait for the episode where they trick Limmy into coming in the back entry of the venue. Lead him down the corridor into a wee room with a table in it, and a plate of shortbread on the table (that's how to trap a jock). He grabs eagerly at the shortbread but it's actually a secret switch, the wall falls down and there is McIntyre and the whole audience laughing and cheering. He walks towards the front of the stage, grabs the microphone from the stand and belts out. "WRONG WAY, DOWN A ONE-WAY STRE-EET!" His feather wid be proud.
These fake segments and stand-up shows where the comedian spends half the act reading out 'hilarious' texts from the audience should be placed in the same hydraulic press.
The Tony Hadley reaction was legit. He's used to going in the back entrance of a Theatre to get his teeth done.
There is no way they don't know exactly what's going on. Even just having Michael McIntyre "hiding" in your house, what just himself hiding under a table?? Come on, there'll be a whole room with the crew, they'll have gotten signed consent forms, insurance shite and the rest.

Breaking News: Michael McIntyre's Big Show has been cancelled, after Michael McIntyre is rushed into hospital to be put on life support. His injuries were sustained after attempting to surprise ex-Scotch comedian Brian 'Limmo' Limond in his bed for a segment of the show.
McIntyre is said to have sustained mutiple broken bones, hundreds of bite marks, and had his ears bitten off.
McIntyre is currently in a coma, and doctors are saying to 'not count on his recovery'. A statement from Limond, who was found at the crime scene dabbing furiously on camera, says 'I was oan the fuckin telly! I used to have a show on the BBC!' No such show exists. More to come.
The idea that Michael McIntyre could be in your house and you not realise, is ridiculous. He doesn't Uber there with no crew or assistants or anything, plus it all has to be insured in order to film, so risk assessments need to be done and there's just zero chance it is genuine.
Have no idea who any of these people are. But I enjoy watching Limmy get all upset about it.

You're not telling me someone hasn't said to them, at the very least, 'look, something is going to happen tonight, i cant tell you what, but just make sure you've got some clothes on and have cleared away any sex paraphernalia.'

Yeah Chesney was laughing the whole time he clearly knew it was something. But frankly he's a one hit wonder so I wouldn't doubt that he could do the song if someone woke him up in the middle of the night. He must have done it a thousand times since the 80s
Telling the person it's "a bit of a surprise" isn't enough though. That would suggest it's something minor. Not having the walls come down or Michael McIntyre pointing at and addressing me through the TV. In either of those situations I would still end up shitting my pants.
The Tony Hadley "surprise" is the real kicker. This is a guy who I'm sure has a regular private dentist who he visits in the same location every time. He certainly wouldn't go to the back of a building that he's clearly performed at during his career, at night (because they always film BBC shows at night) in his suit, and can instantly go into song (every musician needs to warm up). They're all told exactly what is going to happen. No surprises at all.

It’s one of those genetic traits. Scottish people have a miserable gene where they can see through bullshit no matter how light hearted it is “what’s this? A bit of family fun on the tv to start the week? Don’t think so!”

I thought The Wheel was the worst program that could be made, then I saw MM's Big Show where they literally play clips of The Wheel while doing a fake prank. It's remarkable
Have any of yooz heard of the Japanese guy Nasubi who was locked in a house on his own for some reality tv thing? 15 months he spent on his own, he was told he had to win a million yen by entering competitions in magazines, but I think twice he reached his target and they just raised it to keep him there as it was good tv, they had loads of people watching, they had to move him to a new house when people found out where he was, and then I think they told him he had to move again for the same reason, you see him in this living room, (forgot to say he's naked as well the whole time), when the walls collapse and he's on a stage in front of a huge audience, there's videos on CZcams, the guy honestly looked fucking traumatised, and he later said that show ruined his life.....its no quite the same as Chesney thinking he's in an office and that happening, obviously it was worse for Nasubi after being on his own for over a year......this video just made me think of it.

'Spite-watched' is great.
yeah couldn't be arsed to switch the channels/find something worth watching* on a few Saturday nights recently, so seen far too much of that pish, but didn't need to see much at all to realise it's all staged. Felt that way when they knocked on a 'random' house to see if they were watching his show and oh what a surprise, they were all sat in the front room watching him and giving that acting happily surprised at the door type stuff. He gives off that surface level jolly but underneath controlling as fuck vibe. I suppose it's all teatime/primetime main channel produced & rehearsed to death type stuff too; don't want pre-watershed F-bombs from actual surprises and want the 'spectacle' of the 'perfect' response in a theatrical sense.
*the alternative was bleeding saturday night takeaway with ant'n'dec but we couldn't stick much of that either.

I want to see Limny debunking the "homeless" people make over hairdressing videos that come up on facebook that say "this person hasn't had a haircut in 30 years"and it's clearly fake hair extensions made to look matted ect. I've got a real bee in my bonnet about those videos.
