I had a Chevy dealership install one for me and after a few years of enjoyment, a car wash split the front portion of the bowtie. I can see that only a super small bead of glue was used to put both pieces together. A new bowtie is on its way today and I plan on adding extra glue around the the seams to make sure it stays on. I did get back the part that fell off but a small corner of the bowtie fell into the pit. After I removed the back section/light, I glued the outside to test and make sure it doesn't ruin the plastic before I glue the new one. The glue fogged the clear plastic but not to bad. Plan "B", tape it and then glue it again. The bead of glue just looks messy but you won't see it unless you get close. I'll try a thin brush to apply the glue on the new light. I'll comment again and explain my results. Great video by the way. Very helpful.

Thanks for the vid, it helped alot. However the stupid stock GM connectors fought tooth and nail to fit the ground and positive prongs.

I am going to be purchasing a 2007 Chevy Kodiak 4x4 Monroe conversion pretty soon. I want this illuminated bowtie to be one of the f just things that I do. Anyway your video is very helpful and at least gives me an idea on how to get it started

Great video and looks amazing. I just got it for Christmas, but I live in NY and I have a plow on my truck so the plow harness is using the headlight harness already. Do you know if it’s still possible to plug the bowtie in to get power with a plow harness installed?
Im sure you could make/find an adapter that allows for that to allso be plugged in as well. Good luck!
It was still plug in as it was intended, But instead of having one harness tapping in for power you will have two!

No, i have not
Why would you think there would be any dimming, These emblems are LED! You can practically run LED lights using a potato!

hi,I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD, I bought the kit and I believe I have done the installation right by followed your all instruction but I can't figure out right by saying enter the pins to the connector, but we need to move the 2 white pins over, can you please tell me how do I prime the 2 white clips over?

Hello, You said this lights up blue? it looks clear when lit. I ask because where I live, blue would be illegal.
It is white with a tinge of blue. Almost like a 5000k led bulb
Is it possible to change the color of the light? I want to do red but I don't know if taking it apart or changing the bulb or LED is feasible
You would have to solder in red leds im sure
Feeling aggravated as hell. The wires from the bow tie either won’t go far enough into its half of the harness piece to make contact or the harness connector is crap. Just about to clip both ends off. Lol. It works. I tested it.
You may have to make tour own connector or just use butt connectors and heat shrink?
@@theloweshow3047 I had the same problem, was trying for like an hour. finally I just ended up taking out the white part inside where you first slide the wires through and they slid right in, then I slipped the white part back in. worked great.

You will need to check and see if they offer a kit. The kit will include everything you need!

I can’t get mine to work, the pins from the emblem are sticking through the white part. I checked with the dealer and all they could tell me that it’s not “grounded” but they were able to test that it actually works. Can you elaborate on the part where you said you needed to push the white clips aside while inserting the pins? Maybe that’s where I went wrong? I didn’t move any white clips aside.
Nevermind got it, those pins need to go through pretty far, to get the right leverage I grabbed the back of the pins with tweezers and pushed the pins through.

All right guys... you could probably build one of these with a simple water proof light kit and a piece of Plexiglas for less than $50.00. You could get an LED kit that strobed, flashed, changed color etc. Build a spacer from clear Plexiglas and imbed the LED. All right guys... let's see someones creativity instead of a factory kit for $268.
