    Only problem with that rig for soft beads is it's gonna tear through your beads. You can get glass beads to use as stops at any crafts store for pretty cheap and will last forever

      @HolyMolyOutdoors  Před rokem +6

      Absolutely glass stops work great. I find this rig as a quick alternative to not having to retie to get back to fishing and in on the action. Normally I will use a stop and sequin to keep the bead in place when time allows. Thanks for watching and the feedback

      @@HolyMolyOutdoors absolutely I would recommend to always prep leaders before you go fishing I use leader boards there pretty cheap and I usually will not put a bead or anything on the leader I just rig the hook and the bead stop and then I select the leader off the board based on bead size I wanna use when I get to the water so I always have 5 leaders of each size hook per leader board and then it's just a matter of picking the bead u want and tying one knot and your in action

    I’ve tested out every method on separate days on separate times of the day. The most effective way to fish soft beads is right on the hook. 14 mm and up you just catch a tiny bit of the bead on the hook, anything smaller they ride right on the shank. Way better hook sets and I can switch out beads way faster than anybody else. Not to mention, I rarely lose the bead after landing a fish.

    • @HolyMolyOutdoors

      Why? Simply because it doesn't have a bobber stop?
      I fish beads and that's how you're supposed to do it, the hook dangles 2-3 in inches below the bead. They bite the bead and it gets em right in the nose 99.9% of the time.

    • @jakemowatt5594

  • @shaneconverse5333
    @shaneconverse5333 Před 6 měsíci +2

    nah you want your soft bead to give way off of the small bead its sitting on, that way when you set the hook the bead stays in its mouth, and the hook sets instead of the bead jerking its head before the hook is there. A smaller craft bead for the nucleus holds it just enough.

    Do you put this on the end of a bottom bounce type rig? I do a similar setup with plastic i have the leader tied off to a drop swivel with a weight selected for the current. I also have a rod setup at all times with a swivel at the end of my leader and a weight that slides up and down my main line tied to the other end of the swivel. • @HolyMolyOutdoors
      @HolyMolyOutdoors  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Not a dumb question at all! The bead is pegged for two reasons at least in my understanding. One it helps with the fish mortality around wilds, hooks are placed outside the jaw vs deep hooked. And secondly I’d say that your more apt to have issues with the bead sliding off the hook without anything to keep it in place

      I've never understood this either, it would seem so much simpler to just put the bead on the hook. In my part of Alaska there's no rule against keeping "wild" salmon (and you can't tell them apart from hatchery fish anyway, they're not marked here), so I'm planning on just putting the bead on the hook.

      Thank you for watching and the question. You definitely can however the pegging of a bead allows for a better hook placement and less chance of lethally hooking a fish. 2” above pegged allows for the fish to grab the bead and the hook gets placed in the corner of the jaw.
