  • In this video, I share 5 tips for improvising using diminished sounds. This is for players who are already familiar with their diminished scales and/or arpeggios and want to utilize some new sounds. All of the examples I share are notes from the diminished scale and can be used on any associated dominant and diminished chords, or even on major/minor chords for a tension/release effect. The diminished scale I used for this video (which is 1 of 3 possible diminished scales) can be used on tunes like Duke Ellington’s “Caravan” or other related dominant/diminished chords (i.e., C7, A7, Gb7, Eb7, Bbdim, Gdim, Edim, Dbdim).
