    From start to finish, my mind was *BLOWN*. I never even thought about it that way, I actually thought he was just a character filled for being the villain. Also that theory about Elanzan, Elsa and Anna being Tarzan's sisters, really just made me more satisfied to hear that it wasn't true, Thank you For correcting it and confirming it.

    I saw the title and thought you were jumping on the bandwagon everyone desperately wants to be true lol but thank goodness you didn't. Youre too smart for that.
    Anyway, I remember thinking they were related when I saw this as a kid but was disappointed there was never a reveal. Disney doesn't usually make mistakes when it comes to details on characters so I thought it was really weird that Tarzan and Clayton looked so much alike.

    • @TheFangirlWatches
      @TheFangirlWatches  Před 6 lety +1

      Do you mean that Tarzan's related to Elsa or that Jane is related to Belle? I love connection theories, I really do, but that Frozen one makes me bonkers because it was confirmed by like the direction even though it's CLEARLY not accurate!

    This makes much more sense. I always thought that Clayton and Tarzan were drawn similarly because of the artistic style in the movie, I never thought it was because they could be uncle and nephew. I hated the idea of siblings with Tarzan and the girls.

    Tarzan's family is british, and Elsa and Anna's parents are norwarian, so there's that
    Also, Tarzan's father's nose is pointier than King Agnar's, and both Tarzan's parents have a more oval face shapes than the princesses parents and also a slightly darker skin tone
    Again, 0,00% resemblance between characters

      The weird thing is, I remember this coming to theatres, and my mom kept saying that Tarzan looked evil because he had that villainous pointy chin. This is the most bizarre thing to animate into the movie and NOT address at all!

    • @AichiKitsune

      I agree! My mother actually made a similar comment.
      I also remember reading the book, not being surprised by the 'Clayton twist', because I was so sure that they had addressed it in the movie. Imagine my surprise when I re-watched it, and couldn't find the reference, payed extra attention the next time, just to be sure that I didn't miss it somehow.
      but this is a really interesting theory, and would have made for a great sequel.

    Hey there fangirl. I love this theory and with Claytons "stiff upper lip" accent, it makes sense that he would hold a title like Earl or Duke. If he was just an explorer i would assume that he would have a much lower society accent like if it was modernday America instead of having a southern draw he has a well educated proper mid west accent. Anyways, i figured that i have not ever made a suggestion and with the Holidays around the corner, i thought i should suggest the Santa Clause. One theory i have comes from after Santa falls off the roof and disappeared. Calvin takes over and finishes the run. Then they go back to the north pole, but no one seems to care that the old santa is gone. You can see in the second move once the "De-santafication" process begines, Bernard and Curtis, along with all of the legendary characters are very very very scared that Scott will no longer be santa.

  • @tomaibetter
    @tomaibetter Před 6 lety +3

    Wait, I always thought Tarzan came before Frozen based on Jane and her father bring a penny-farthing to the jungle while Anna owned the bicycle we all know. I was also expecting this video was going to try and link Belle and Jane because of the tea set. So grateful it's not.

    • @TheFangirlWatches
      @TheFangirlWatches  Před 6 lety +2

      Well, the penny-farthing could have belonged to Dr. Porter when he was younger. England is sort of famous for their antiques though, so maybe Porter thought he might meet some locals and trade a few things? Or maybe teach some tribal kids how to use it. I can't imagine a situation where he thought he'd need it for his expedition for personal use! But, the book says Tarzan was born in September 1899, AND that Tarzan interacted with local humans in Africa too, so, that's my line of logic. >.

    • @tomaibetter
      @tomaibetter Před 6 lety +2

      With the bike argument is about a ten year different between the penny-farthing (First appearing in 1870s) and the current design (Which was becoming more mainstream around 1880s), so Professor Porters couldn't have had it as a kid. An adult sure.
      The film (And the stage musical) also made a big deal about Jane and company being the first people Tarzan has ever seen. In the TV show, the first episode showed them getting excited that people were moving to the jungle with a french man opening a trading post. As well as Tarzan not know about La being in the Jungle with him the whole time too.
      For the Frozen time setting, I just googled it and it said that frozen fever took place in 1840 based and Frozen being set in July 1839. So Disney messed by giving Kid Anna a bike at all and making this bike argument redundant.

  • @blinkyiris9148

    Clever theory. Its a breath of fresh air to see some one actually give a good argument about the Elsa and Anna thing.
    And it's a reasonable theory, however, something to add. Clayton has a sister. Lady Waltham. She appears in the legend of Tarzan television show, in the episode Gauntlet of vengeance, season 1 episode 34, I know some folks threw her in as a mention, but I figured it'd be worth noting.
    If he was Tarzan' s cousin than that means she would be as well.
    She looks a smidge younger. Eye shadow aside.
    But it would certainly change the dynamic of the episode in the t.v. series.

    I love this theory and I just want to point out that this I am not commenting this in defense of the popular Frozen-Tarzan theory. I would like to say though that I believe Disney's version of Tarzan takes place around 1882 as opposed to 1919. I believe it's when they are talking to Tarzan about going to England and Professor Porter mentions Darwin, Kipling, and Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria died in 1901. Darwin died in 1882. Kipling was just reaching adulthood around 1882, and while he wasn't famous at that point, I still think that 1882 is the most likely date for Disney's Tarzan. It's a date during the reign of Queen Victoria and during the lifetimes of both Darwin and Kipling, even if one of them was dying and the other wasn't famous yet.
    Besides that one issue I did love this theory. When I found out that Tarzan had a cousin whose last name was Clayton in the novels, I assumed Disney's Clayton was Tarzan's cousin, but your uncle theory makes more sense and is more interesting in my opinion. :-)

      Somehow I can't manage to sit down and watch the show in order. I've seen the first few episodes, then over to some random bits in season 2, and whatever that movie was with Star's mom that came on over the Summer. EVENTUALLY, I hope to work on it though lol.

    Excellent theory and thank you. I don't think Tarzan is the heir of Arrendale either. I do kind of like the idea that Jane is a descendant of Belle.

    I’ve never read any of the books, but yes Tarzan’s real last name was Clayton. That actually would’ve been so interesting for Disney to establish that connection. But I think Tarzan actually leaves Africa and his gorilla family for Jane in the original source, in comparison to Disney Jane and her dad chose to stay instead. I’m not sure what your mentioning about Pocahontas 2 was, considering it went in the complete opposite direction of the original and completely ruined the original’s ending.
    I’ve never supported the Tarzan is actually a prince of Arendelle either, considering their parents literally don’t look anything alike. I mean geez why on Earth would Agnar and Induna even be headed south aside for Rapunzel’s wedding? Only theory I secretly had was their ship is the one in the beginning of the Little Mermaid, considering Denmark (where the Little Mermaid is supposed to take place) is close to Norway where Arendelle is, but also both the Little Mermaid and Snow Queen were written by Hans Christian Anderson. If anything, as far as the same jawline for Tarzan and Clayton could just be for the artstyle used in Tarzan. It’s similar to how Disney in different eras had specific artstyles for different movies, like compare the Rescuers made in 1970s to the Rescuers Down Under made in 1990, the artstyles even for Ms Bianca and Bernard are different.

    I mean it's a genius theory, but Jane's clothing and her father disprove the timeline.
    Jane's dress matches many designs shown in fashion books for high status women in the 1870's and 1880's (ESPECIALLY the back of the dress)
    and when boarding the ship, Jane's father expresses all the things Tarzan will see including Queen Victoria. The Victorian era was between 1837 to 1901 so why would Jane's father mention meeting Queen Victoria if she's been dead for 18 years according to the timeline you set up. Jane's father would actually be mentioning King Edward and not Victoria. I mean it could be a mistake on the movie's part, but a lot of the devices and wardrobe within the movie strike me that the movie takes place in the 1890's than it does pushing the 1920's. Perhaps Disney wanted to show the classic Victorian Era explorers than the explorers within the 20's.
    Your theory is still VERY solid (and i honestly think is close to canon) but that was just a bit of a hiccup i noticed.
    Also the Tarzan and Jane sequel isn't persay a movie as it was a compilation of random episodes from the TV series. I know a lot of people say that the Tarzan and Jane movie was a pilot for a failed TV show, but the show was actually made and was pretty solid most of the time.

    • @TheFangirlWatches
      @TheFangirlWatches  Před 6 lety

      I really doubt that the thought crossed Clayton's mind. He had tunnel vision to get the gorillas. If he had realized who Tarzan was, I imagine he would have tried to kill him much sooner.

  • @victoriabryer4710
    @victoriabryer4710 Před 6 lety

    In Tarzan, Jane and her father are telling him about England and they mention Queen Victoria, that gives us a time line, and i believe she was Reigning over this time, i can't remember but i think Clayton say God save the Queen. Her reign gives us a pretty big time line 1837 to 1901
    Loved the Theory
    I just don't like it how a Disney writer/director whatever said it "confirmed it" Why just to jerk us around and toy with our emotions. He said it on camera record for all to see, why say it if its not official.
