I think it's important to clarify that if you are rejected on a hard search the company doesn't report the decision only that an application has been made regardless. I'm a credit underwriter and we have people saying they do not want a rejection showing on their credit file. However do note that if a creditor sees a hard search but no new account opened around the same time then you can deduce they were rejected.
Been researching this for so long and wishing you'd post this exact thing haha! Thanks Andy!
Thanks for this video. Just got my first Amex Business charge card this week. Welcome bonus Eligiblity : £3000 in first three months
Can you cancel the Gold Amex card prior to the end of the first year without any penalty? Thank you for the info!
Hey Andy, in your experience how long before we see another Platinum Boost Welcome Offer? It's a tough decision between Platinum and Gold for me, but i would get alot of use out of the Platinum Benefits. I'm also about to spend a considerable amount in the next few weeks on Travel i'd like to get rewards on. I don't fly BA much so the current boost offer I can't see much gain in. Any Insights be much appreciated!
I took your advice last year and went with the Nectar card last year to get the bonus. I've found it great and still shop at Sainsburys so making use of the 3 nectar points per £1 spent. I am coming up to the point that I will have to pay £30 to keep the card, what would you recommend that I get now? Or shall I stick with the Nectar card? Thanks.
Hello Andy, great video as always. sent an email with a question, but was told to join the facebook group and put my question in. did that but did not receive a response back. Can you please help?
Im really confused please help.... complete newbie, just got the free BA amex. Which would be the best second card where im also eligible for the welcome bonus (while still keeping the free one)? Im more keen on building enough points for travel.
I am 20 years old and I am eligible but I don’t know what is better for me. I want to earn points for money of holidays. I like what gold has to offer, however the nectar is cheaper 😅 what do you recommend? and is it still 0% interest if I pay in full by the end of the month?
Does anyone know if having a Cashback everyday card rules you out of the gold cards welcome bonus?
When do they give you the cashback at the end of the month or after a whole year anniversary.
I had the american express british airways premium plus card for a year but have just downgraded to avoid the annual fee. In a years time can i apply for the same card to receive the welcome bonus again as it will be 2 years since I applied for the card initially.
Not in Amex requirements unfortunately, using my Barclays Rewards and Chase Debit until they do a Chase Credit card
Cancelled my Amex rewards in February 2023 after hitting the welcome bonus and using it for a year to start stoozing so have to wait another 12 months before I start this trick.
Which Barclays are you using - if you don't mind? first time user here
He said barclays rewards@@itshazelhoff
just get a Tesco credit card mate or debit, the are the top dog 👍🏻
Thanks Andy. Super helpful as always. When do you think Amex might trigger the pro-rata refund?
Also, am I correct even though you can have the BA platinum card (black one), there still another option for another card with Avois welcome points?
Tx.
I got a refund when I cancelled my platinum card a few weeks ago - if that's what you're referring to
At some point after 1 March, though no confirmed date as yet. So there’s always a chance you can get a bonus and cancel but you’ll have to approach it with the calculations that you won’t
Can I also get the welcome bonus from the "Platinum Cashback Credit Card" if I get the "British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card" 1st?
No you can’t. But you can get a welcome bonus for the British airways Amex card if you do this the other way round
Could someone let know if i have understood this correctly.
As a first time AMEX holder, its best to apply for the nectar or platinum cashback card. This will allow you to collect the new joiner bonus.
Afterwards you can then apply for AMEX gold, and you will also be eligable for the new joiner bonus ? However, if you still have the nectar card, would you have cancel this, wait 2 years and then apply for the AMEX gold to be eligable for the new joiner bonus ?
No, you won’t get the gold bonus if you’ve had any Amex in your name in the last 2 years. But you will be eligible for the Platinum or Ba Premium Plus bonus
@@BeCleverWithYourCash Thanks, and would I need to cancel the card, wait two years, and then make the application for Platinum or the Premium plus card ?
@@BeCleverWithYourCash hi I just got the free BA amex. Does this mean I won't be eligible for the Amex gold card or BA premium plus sign on bonuses? If not, do you know which is the next card I can get and still be eligible for a SUB in my circumstance?
If you had an amex card but cancelled it and it has now been two years, would you be eligible for a new welcome bonus? Thank you for the videos, binging them now! :)
Yep!
Can i get a welcome bonus on platinum if i currently have a basic BA Amex
No, you’d need to be without Amex for 24 months, before you apply for it.
is capital one a good beginner credit card for 2024?
Get the Asda one that’s the best or the Tesco if u can’t get Asda 👍🏻
Capital one apps good but stingy with credit limits aqua or tesco or asdas a shout
Ere stupid question why have an Amex card in the first place, what makes them better than others? Whenever we’re out with friends who have the Amex card all I hear when they try to use it is sorry we don’t accept Amex. Going through the video I see it’s about you earning money, feels like hard work.
Rewards are better and their customer service is first rate.
As long as you can spend the minimums required for the welcome bonuses then they’re great incentives, and then decent ongoing cashback and extra offers too
From what I gather. You only get your rewards/cashback at the anniversary of receiving your card at that point, you would be liable for the fee!
It varies by card. Though for those that pay after a year (platinum cashback) you can cancel within the first month of renewal so you get the bonus
@@BeCleverWithYourCash Thanks. So just to be clear. If you cancel, for example after the 1st year, you get your cashback/rewards without paying the subscription fee.
