When you show news like this, it really damages the credibility HT and makes me wonder if the things said about other countries by HT are also completely true.. SL is balancing the relations between China, Russia, India, Japan and the West. It will never 'offend' any of the partners as portrayed by HT. The real situation is that the airport got offered to the highest bidders with staunch interest. China is never an enemy of SL because it helped Sri Lanka in its trying times when India isolated SL and worked against it in the past. It's just like India is grateful to Russia for its diplomatic, military and and financial support in India's trying times... India is not ready to give up friendship with Russia despite the pressure from the US and Sri Lanka is not ready to give up the friendship with China despite the pressure of India. Indians should understand this sensitive situation.

Poor illiterate Sinhala people hailed Mahintha Rajapakse, a telugu origin leader as their modern thuttagemunu but he pushed Sri Lanka into the chinese debt trap by building this useless, unviable airport. This debt trap is the mai cause for the shortage of essential goods, petroleum products etc. Govt doesn't have enough money to import these essential items. The West who advised Mahintha to go for an all out war with the minority tamils instead of solving the ethnic crisis with dialogue, refused to offer any assistance whenvthe country faced bankruptcy. Majority Sinhala people also learned the good lesson that the Fascist approach practised by their Naidu, Nayakkar leaders is the main cause for their suffering. Nobody is coming to rescue them in their hour of need. My suggestion to them is you will live in happiness only when you let the minority find peace. Then prosperity will follow. But Sinhala leaders are not changing their attitude towards the mjnority tamils. If you take the approach to embrace everyone in this land with a view to develop only you will succeed or you will be succumbed into the same mud again & again and will never come out.
