Trumby she is an Australian through and through. She’s lived here the majority of her life and is an Australian citizen. It is a migrant country. Most people are 2nd or 3rd generation born Australian’s and lots of people were from other countries and moved here. I’m ethically Greek, that doesn’t make me any less Australian

I think it is easier to do well when you're just starting or returning from a break. But the fact this didn't win makes me think it will be hard for Australia to ever win as they will always struggle in the televote.

They are in fact allowed to win (because why wouldn't they?) and if they would win, they have an agreement with the EBU to team up with an European country to 'co-host' the ESC (like it will be the case next year with the UK and the Ukraine).

ESC robbed her by allowing1944 song which was sung 3 years before going against the rules, they allowed it because they did not want OZ to win this.

It wasn't that Jamala's song wasn't good, or well sung, or beautiful, but this just has such an ANTHEM vibe to it. It gets people together, it's catchy, and goddamn the vibe it must of brought to that arena, I can't imagine, I would of given anything to watch her perform this. She looks incredible, the staging was amazing, and holy hell her voice... that's why I thought this was the true winner in my opinion.

My personal fave is Bulgaria's song but Dami's song was definately more worth the win than the actual winner. In fact, everyone got surprised when Jamala won. Really.
The previous year a ripoff of David Guetta's Lovers on the Sun won. In 2014 a travesty (Conchita Wurst) won (you can all understand why). This is totally unfair. If you are smart enough you can see that Sweden, Germany, Ukraine and Russia (economically strong countries) win or take high places all the time this period. For example, Greece never wins (we have serious debt trouble). We send medicore songs but if you see the annual winners, it's obvious that we definately have a chance. I have to admit that this year, we sent the worst song that we have ever sent.

Dami is such a phenomenal artist. She has been a absolute standout at Eurovision and representing Australia. She was robbed of winning the contest, despite coming second with the jury votes, she should have won ! Her vocals are just AMAZING and this song proves it.
Dami actually won the jury votes with an unassailable lead. It was the public votes that robbed her, she arrived in Stockholm late finishing off her tour first then produced her Eurovision video within 24 hrs working around the clock. She definitely was robbed !

@@jacksondevine8320 To be fair, if that was the case, then the juries would be the ones to give way less points to Australia, not the public. In fact, it was the complete opposite. The only explanation that I can give for this is that the public are mostly people who are joining late and only listen to the replays, and they give 12 points to the people who scream because they think it's impressive. And Australia were performing in the middle of the running order, compared to Ukraine who were near the bottom, and the most points go to the countries who are near the bottom of the running order. But even then, it makes no sense.

The decision to not give the victory to 'Dami Im' was and will always be, the most controversial judging error to ever grace the Eurovision Contest! I'm not taking anything away from the winner, but EVERYONE knows she had this win in the bag! Her song was the most powerful, the most passionate, and resonated to a far greater audience by a long way. It's a shame she cant go back and do it again!! We absolutely Love you down under Dami, and always will xx

Dami was jury winner with 100 points difference to the second place Jamala. Jamala did also not win the public voting , it was Sergei (Russia). Sadly the public gave Dami only the 4th place
I disagree. The most controversial error was in 1994. Edyta Góniak should have won then.
We could bring the best performance every year for 20 years in a row and i doubt we could ever win... Can you imagine the resulting controversy if we actually were to win and consequently HOST Eurovision the following year?!!

I watched this many times and cannot believe how epic this performance is and how awesome Dami is. This should have won hands down

Actually, Dami is an angel and she sings like one. So she has wings and flew down from the box obviously. ;D
From 2:12 there is a big shot of her head. While we cannot see the stage 4 guys come running from stage right entrance (that stage is creepy, you can roll everything up from below in no time). In the next shot from the dropcam at 2:16 we can see 2 people in black clothing lifting her down the box and then running away towards the front edges of the stage (only visible by a light shining on them and when the floor lights up). The other 2 are getting ready behind the box.
In the next steadicam/flycam/crane (no idea what exactly they used here) shot at 2:21 the camera goes around Dami and while we are looking towards the audience, the big box is being rolled away by the other two stage hands and woop-di-doo, at 2:38 the big shiny box is already gone and nowhere to be seen.
The choreography needed for these effects and the planning of the camera work is really quite astonishing, and it's not computer trickery, it's good old coordination work.
