Impossible Climb La Bresse | Hill Climbing Madness

- French hill climb sensation moved to Impossible Climb La Bresse for a 2-day pure madness with modified monsters prototype machines trying to make impossible, possible.
North-eastern French ski resort La Bresse hosted the 32nd Montée Impossible action with 72 riders ready for their destiny on 23-24th July.
Racing weekend started on Saturday and there were two categories of bikes to hit the hill, Prototype and Verticross. Being a stock dirt bike, Verticross category didn’t hold a chance against the massive Col de Grosse-Pierre ridge. On the other side Prototype category was on fire and we had the USA’s hill climb champion Joe Shipman in the house.
Throughout the racing weekend Prototype category riders took 4 runs and Verticross 8 knockout sessions in order to be qualified to the super final.
In the end there were only 9 riders in Prototype category that made it to the top of 211m hill and the fastest of them was Joe Shipman with his mind blowing 18.05s time.

No ... not one stock bike even came close, in fact every single one dropped in almost exact spot... please note the time when you think a stock bike almost made it because i watched the entire video and saw no such thing

Watch Hillclimb Rachau 2000 there were a lot more stock bikes around and even weird hobby builds. If you fucked up on Rachau, your bike was 99% trashed while going down.
I Think the regular dirt bikes wer given the chance to hit that hill climb only as like a "break time" or an intermission type of entertainment just to keep the crowd occupied while the next bunch of hill climbers wer finishing up their Final Check List before their next run.
. . . and those regular dirt bikes wer FAAAAAR From making it to the top. They knew before they even started their bikes at the bottom - There was NO WAY they would make it to the top.
Never seen these before and so this is really cool to see something new and exciting to watch!

Holy smokes! Those last 50 feet or so through that huge channel in the hill look like the most difficult climb I've ever seen. Very impressive that anyone made it to the top.

Surprised they don't have a FPV guy. I did some chasing at the Monson Monster in Monson MA last year. Got some great video of the motorcycle hill climbs, and 4x4 hill climbs. Next bike event is actually nest week. Cant wait.

When the object of your sport is to actually cross the finish line, you know it's got to be good
There is a big endurance race with hundreds of bikes and I think a 4 hour time limit in the Alps. Typically four or five people make it to the finish before the event ends.

Malcolm Smith could ride right up that without a problem when he was young. He wouldnt have needed extended swing arm or bolted tires. He wouldve taken his Husqvarna 400 and simply ridden to the top without even the need for running his gears to the power band. He used lope up muddy steep grade in Cali.

The spiked tires are sure more dangerous than in my old days. Looks like the kill switches may be better cause we had bikes go on their own in all directions with just knobby tires still spinning. Oh if you slid off over the back tire!

why would you need a kill switch. the throttle would need to get stuck and i only see that happening if it sticks into the dirt, which would stop the bike anyways. never had an issue hill climbing.
