    One little tweak I would suggest for your earlier levels, would be to have 10 WIS instead of CHA, just to give yourself an extra prepared cleric spell. This would allow you to have both Create Water and Sanctuary available.
    Firstly, its an abjuration spell, so helps boost your ward. Secondly, its a bonus action, so you can use the first turn to Create Water, run around triggering as many opportunity attacks as you can to hit with Agathys, and then pop Sanctuary. In the earlier part of the game your AC will still be low enough, that most enemies will want to target you (but can't because of Sanctuary), so they will all group up around you.
    This will either help your other party members have their fun, or set you up for a monster turn 2, or both.
    Plus, its also a great "oh shit" spell, for those times you've misjudged something, which is definitely possible when your predominant playstyle is to get hit and retaliate.

    Fun build! Close to what I usually use. I like the Monk dip. One suggestion - it may be better to take those two Tempest Cleric levels very early, maybe as early as 1&2 or 2&3. Being able to maximize a Chromatic Orb (Thunder), Thunder Wave, or Lightning Bolt can flat out erase a lot of early game enemies and bosses.

    If you are looking to better weaponize your bonus action, dipping for Monk is not it. Take that level and the 2nd level into Cleric, and instead go 3 Draconic Sorcerer for Quickened Metamagic. With the two spell slot restoration amulets and the wizard feature, you can generate a ton of extra sorcery points for quickened spells on nearly every turn. 3 Sorc, 1 Cleric, 8 Wizard is what the final levels would look like.

  • @freakindon5710
    @freakindon5710 Před 5 měsíci +4

    I don't think the 2 point cleric dip is worth it imo. 1 Sorc (agathys + con saving throw prof), 1 tempest cleric (lightning reaction + heavy armor + shields), 10 abjuration. 10 abjuration is nice because it gives you 2 more stacks of arcane ward AND 10 levels of arcane ward per short rest. The extra points also let you more reliably shield allies when you need to. Alert + ASI. Armour of Persistence (heavy armour) gives permanent resistance and blade ward. Grymskull gives resist to fire and immunity to crits. Markoheshkir + ketheric shield (+1 spell save dc), then focus on gear that increases spell save DC (amulet of devout, cloak of weave, tyrant's gauntlets).

    • @Crozyn
      @Crozyn  Před 5 měsíci

      Yeah 10 abj wizard isn't bad either, but I don't think it's necessary imo. I'd rather have more burst when I need it and definitely the flair that this build provides. Alert is an option, but if you have decent dex (18+) and initiative gear, it's not needed.
      The problem with armour of persistence and a +2 shield is that you're looking at 22 AC (24 with haste), which means that enemies are going to miss a lot, and that means less damage reflected back at enemies. Even at 21 AC with haste in the video, you can see that misses are frequent.

    A tweak I'd make is find ways to actually LOWER your AC, not raise it.
    You want enemies to target and aim for you, and you want damage reduction, not AC. I find that if your AC is too high, enemies will just ignore you. You can still get attacked by running around a lot and getting attacks of opportunity, but it's not as ideal.

    Why mage armor at level 2 wizard?
    I am going to try this, but I don't think it stacks with the sorcerer draconic AC. Pick up only because it's abjuration?
    I wouldn't waste a spell slot casting it so, seems redundant.
    Why did you want disguise self? Just personal preference?
    Seems like an open slot for choosing anything really. Also thinking about going human, though from a practical stand point the dark vision and extra movement from wood elf is probably better.

  • @daveyfunk
    @daveyfunk Před 5 měsíci

    I'd argue the better option is dropping 1 level of Cleric and 1 level of Sorc for 2 levels of Warlock to get Armour of Shadows and that allows you to build your arcane ward fully before every battle without expending spell slots. Spell slot economy is so important and your burn through spellslots with Abjuration wizard buffing arcane ward using the Sorc route, particularly early on. 8 wizard/2 warlock/1 cleric/1 monk only means you lose out on destructive wrath and level 6 spell slot but you gain so much more in spell slot economy. Also, the monk choice is clever for the dex use for staffs but is it necessary where your ray of frost cantrip should be harder hitting? Your ray of frost will hit for something like 40 odd damage with wet effect?

    • @Crozyn
      @Crozyn  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Spell slot economy isn't really that bad with this build though. Cantrips do amazing damage, offhand attack is decent filler damage, and running around provoking attacks is the core (=no spell slots used). Losing the level 6 spell slot means no water myrmidon, and that thing can do loads of damage on wet enemies (and can apply wet).
      Imo the whole warlock armour of shadows thing is overrated. Definitely not needed and not fun to setup. If I couldn't get level 6 spell slots I'd go with another class like fighter instead for a melee extra attack version.

    • @daveyfunk

    Another way to optimize arcane ward charges is by taking 2 levels of warlock and the Armour of Shadows invocations. This way, you can cast Mage Armor at will (without expending a spell slot) to fill your arcane ward
    You also get Armor of Agathys that way, so maybe you can forget about Sorcerer level, loosing the CON saving throw is maybe not such a big deal for that build
