  • League of Legends has no shortage of talented players.
    More often than not, talent isn’t the only thing that gets them their spectacular results. Sometimes, the grueling hours push the players’ bodies - and minds - beyond their limits. But not everyone is interested in taking their work home with them.
    And perhaps no one exemplifies this better than Martin “Wunder” Nordahl Hansen - the top lane terror for G2 Esports.

    Basically the dude sees it like a job, gives his all in scrims and team practice but when it's off the clock he just relax and do things he likes to do. Really a good and healthy approach as he can keep his mental and perform at a 100% every time since he does not need to improve his mechanics that much anymore and soloQ won't help him at that too much really. In sports we don't see people practicing when they can't take advantage of that days practice anymore, this is the same thing.

      On the contrary 🧐, Soloq can actually improve your mechanical skills since the Pro's have to 1v9 almost every game they play. And as for mental health, Soloq would actually be beneficial to Pro's because their mental fortitude would constantly be tested by those insufferable Teemo mains and piloted Mastery lvl 7 Yasuo players, not to mention the 200 years of experience the Riot balance team has. It is effectively a mental workout and a mental durability test 🧠.

      That´s the reason G2 is the only org i respect. They seem to be the only ones who have understood that there´s more to a player´s performance than him practicing his mechanics 24/7.
      He needs to also be rested, invested in the teams success and not mentally exhausted. When they gave Perkz free time due to his family situation, they gained my respect, because i am pretty damn sure something like that would not have happened under the banners of the likes of TSM or SKT or whatever. There are probably other teams who are not actively enforcing this hardcore grind lifestyle, but so far G2 seem to be the only ones who actually value their players having a good work life balance and for me as a viewer it´s much more fun to watch players who are enjoying what they´re doing. It´s also why i stopped watching LCS games. You can almost feel the tension in those players and it´s no fun to watch.
      So yeah, Wunder definitely is smart for doing what he does and i´d bet that other teams could benefit a lot from following his approach, at least to a certain degree.

It seems they dont force their players to do anything they know they know they have skill and want them to have the ability to have a laugh, to have fun but most of all grow as a team. When i look at some teams i just feel like they are people who play as a team but arent one if that makes sense. With g2 you can almost feel a brotherhood like they can all poke fun and have fun at each other which helps sooooo insanely much when it comes to mental.

      Theres a reason for why wow never became an esport. It's always had balence issues and it simply just isn't that hard. It's more so game knowledge and gimmicks then actual mechanical skill. I'm no glad, but I am duelist ranking when I did play as I'm primarily a mythic raider. I don't know which one but in one of shrouds videos, when he played csgo, they were told not to play wow because it led to a degradation of skill in their primary game.

      @ThemLoLShortClips Před 3 lety

      @@Starkimonde WoW PVP is an e-sport, every year we have several tournaments including BlizzCon (it's like World Cup).
      There is WoW in e-sports as PVE and PVP.
      On another note, WoW has high mechanical skills. In a WoW arena you don't have any relax time like a "farm phase" in LoL.
      And some classes are highly mechanical such as rogue, mage, druid, etc.
      By playing WoW you'll still train awareness, mechanical skills (keyboard management is way more difficult in WoW than in LoL), communication, etc.
      Of course, you'll still have to dedicate 75-80% of your time to your primary game, or else you'll lose the game-specific mechanics such as animation cancelling, hourglass timing, flash combinations, ward hops, etc.
