What a throwback! This song was used in a film there. As someone mentioned below it's a cover. I'm going to expose my weak Tagalog understanding, but Harana (the group name) refers to a group of guys that goes around and serenades . I remember her sharing some BTS about this. The makeup artist didn't show up, and she had to do her own lol. The Whistle has been talked about recently along with just "Birit" songs in general. Her goal now is strictly focusing on building her brand, spreading her music far and wide globally, longevity, and building a catalog of Originals in this business (this is strictly from what she has expressed in tons of lives, as I'd never speculate ) That being said, she has expressed she doesn't want her Whistle to define her. (I have always personally agreed with that sentiment and am on record about it) she has it, but chooses to use it sparingly. That along with vocally demanding rep, she'd also like to balance. Being in demand, lack of rest and flooring the peddle vocally nonstop threatens vocal longevity. She said she wants to sing into her old age and wants to be mindful and smart about how and when she "floors that peddle ". During this pandemic she's been able to not only rest her voice, but develop new techniques, and as a massive fan myself ,her growth as a person and an artist has been incredible to witness. Thank you Jerod for bringing her back. Definitely check out her Original stuff. I would drop links but I fear I've written far too much. I think I'll drop one in particular in a separate post!
Peter Frampton a British artist was the original singer and writer of the song. The group Big Mountain made a cover of the song back in 1994 and made it popular again by remixing it under a reggae genre. Quite catchy.
