- My Honda Fit is having a problem running. It keeps trying to cut off while idling. The radio blinks off, the lights dim, and the yellow electronic assisted steering light blinks on the dash.

THANKS KEVIN!
While I'm not a mechanic and no professional, I have worked in the Honda plants and from what I'm seeing and some of the issues I've seen in-plant, its some sort of electrical distribution issue. Somthing is kicking on and draining power. It could be a bad altenator/battery even if they are not that old, I've seen them be put on a car brand new and be bad so its not out of the picture. Also noticed that the power steering light is coming on after the drain, it could be going bad. If the check engine light is on, you can try pulling any codes and see if that leads you to the issue. If its not on, run the check anyway, there can be pending codes that have not tripped the chk engine light yet.
Thanks for the advice. I had to make this video for the Honda Dealership because it won't do this problem every time they drive it, only when it wants to. They have looked at the video for the first time today and they should be getting back to me tomorrow and letting me know what's going on with it. It only has this problem at night when I run lights and the A/C compressor kicks on and off.
I'm guessing it may be the alternator since it does it at night with the lights on and when the AC compressor kicks on. There's not enough power to compensate for the drain from the compressor kicking on. It definitely sounds like somthing to do with the alternator. We've seen them put brand new ones on at the plant and when it got to the end of the line wouldn't run after a few minutes of starting once it ran the battery dead. We've brought them in from the test track only to find out they were bad before we finished the test run too. Hopefully they will give you a definite answer to what it is.
this turned out to be a bad cell in the battery. it left me sitting a few days later. i think that the car was actually running on alternator only at this point, and the last few volts it had it let me crank a few times more. luckily it left me sitting in my garage rather than off in the middle of nowhere or at work.
Would it only do it at idle? Mine is doing exactly that at idle but it also does it while trying to drive. I lose power and then the power spontaneously kicks back in
Any idea on what it was? Mine is doing that now
