Well they did say it happens do to wear and tear and also it coming off the track and bad installation so make sure you have a new shower door installed correctly would be your answer.
Unfortunately, you can’t stop glass from shattering if it’s going to shatter all you can do is try to prevent it.

My shower screen exploded an hour ago & I've never heard a sound like it. The (British Standard) screen was hinged & used with a shower bath. When I went to see what had happened the shattered shards were all over the bathroom, had broken a window, scratched the walls & were in the bath & wash basin. I didn't even know it was a 'thing' but it seems to be. The manufacturers need to use safer materials as 2,500 people end up in A&E every year.

This has happened to me when I was staying in a hotel, I had multiple incised wounds on my body and the one big laceration on my foot which was really very deep. Thank God my face and neck were spared. We had to checkout the same day. And the hotel had the audacity to ask us to pay for the damages although I had to suffer injuries and also missed my flight that day. It was such a terrible experience. Well I have a glass door but a massive gap on the top to get rid of all the steam. I don't think though shower doors shouldn't shatter because of temperature change suddenly. The shower door in my bathroom already exploded once around 2011 no one inside. The glass door we use now is just the highest quality you can find

Indeed there is a reason why the tempered safety glass is called safety glass - it shatters into many small pieces. The alternative is glass that breaks into long jagged knife-like pieces, which can cause a lot more damage if you were to fall on it the wrong way. The tempered safety glass, which shatters into thousands of small pieces is a much safer failure mode of the glass. I’d take surface stitches any day compared to a long jagged piece of glass severing one of my major arteries.
