A lot needs to be said about those who discredit the gift of tongues. I stopped speaking in tongues because of Allen Parr and this particular video he made. Many times afterwards I'd feel the steer to speak in tongues but wouldn't and slowly the gift of utterance began to diminish till I couldn't any longer. I felt a bit dissatisfied but paid no attention to it. It almost felt like being without air. I came across a message by Pastor Iren on Spotify in what I might call a timely fashion. It got my attention so I prayed asking God that if He wanted me speaking in tongues, He should guide me. Not long after I kept seeing pointers towards speaking in tongues and even saw another message on the gift by another pastor make it's way to my CZcams feed. I took it as God wanting me to speak in tongues. I prayed for utterance and I slowly began to speak more fluently day by day. I felt so robbed by listening to Allen and I still feel so. When I remember giving in to that video, I get angry cos I feel like I missed out on a lot over that period. I do understand Allen and others have their hearts in the right place but I don't think they realise how much damage they are inflicting on the body of Christ. To think there are millions out there getting robbed off this gift isnt something I think they would want on their account had they known better. The scripture clearly admonishes us as Christians not to despise the gifts of the Spirit.

Now let all things be done for the edification of the body of Christ. Firstly, do not study the Holy Scripture in letters but ask for utterance from the Holy Spirit. It is clearly pointed to us in 1corinthians 14:26 that whenever we come together, let each of us not all of us but each of us should have a psalm, teaching, revelation and tongue. Not everyone is a teacher (James3:1), not everyone is an apostle or not everyone has the gift of healing or speaking in tongue (1corinthians 12:29-30). Study 1corinthians 14 properly and see that it is not proper for the congregation to all speak in tongues. Your examples are just so off the track. In Acts2, the tongues that the apostles spoke was as a result of them being filled with the Holy Spirit which they waited for and guess what? The tongues they spoke where understood by all tribes who were present. We also saw in Acts 19 that after apostle Paul laid his hands on the people, they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and also spoke in tongues but after receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit just like apostle paul, you should be able to use your gift for the edification of the body of Christ (church) and not just for your personal edification like what people are now doing in the house of God. This is the order, speaking in tongues is not forbidden but it should be done in a decent way in order to impact an unbeliever. Do you understand ?
Don't act to know it all but rather pray to God to reveal His mind and mystery to you and don't go deceiving the hearts of many with your enticing and persuasive words.

When Those people were filled...did the tongues just disappear. Is half of the body of Christ "just faking it"? You go study properly and dont be so quick to dismiss something. Why doesnt God just give it to the peraons who will teach. Every chruch service isnt a preacher standing up at the front talking, some services people are praying for one another or praying for themselves, spiritually battling...etc. these are the times people would be speaking and praying all at once.

The bible says in Acts 2 that the 120 spoke in diverse tongues and people from all the then known world HEARD them speak in their native tongues/languages and YOU say that it's not possible to hear 120 people speak at the same time and that there is something more to that than meets the eye? WHAT? So you want to deny or twist what is clearly written in scripture so as to push your own narrative? Wow!! I rather believe the scripture than believe you sir.
Sorry sir but You are wrong in saying but you use 1 Corinthians to interpret tongues. The principle is that you interpret a phenomenon by its first occurrence. Tongues first occurred in Acts 2 so that should be the bases of it's interpretation. If you only apply this principle sir, all the 1 Corinthian and Ephesians texts you used in your talk will make sense.
Did you just say that ancient Jewish writings said that when God spoke in Sinai, everyone heard in his language? Sorry but wasn't it only the Israelites who were in mount Sinai when God spoke.
I believe we should put emotions aside and dual on what scripture teaches sir.

I followed Brother Parr for a few years and his teachings really blessed me, especially his series on Jesus in the Old Testament. But I immediately unsubscribed to his channel when I watched that video from him. I didn't even finish watching it. I had had enough when he mockingly spoke in fake tongues. Pastor Iren I want to thank you so deeply 🙏🏾 for breaking this down. As a first gen Nigerian in the diaspora, I can see so many of our own being blown away by these doctrines of theological intellectualism and most of them site Ruslan and Allen Parr because they seem balanced on other topics. Thank you for the warning… it is very dangerous to believe you’re right with no room to correct error. That’s pride and it’s giving birth to theological elitism. Most ppl in this camp don’t have the goal to save souls but the goal to be right. As a Christian I didn’t speak in tongues for the first 19 years of my walk. Since I began this year my walk is DRASTICALLY different. I’m empowered. The desire to engage spiritual disciplines has increased. This may be anecdoctal but experience is what established the historical existence of Jesus. So again, thank you for this breakdown. I pray that we can find unity in Christ.
Hi,I'm curious. Did you identify any reason you didn't operate in this gift during the initial 19 years.
I do believe its real however I am not operating in this so far. Heard several teachings on this free gift requiring coveting and it throws me off that a free gift requires coveting to go as well.
Worried me for awhile till the Spirit of God answered me personally from Eph 1:13. I've heard so many say implicitly that it's the best thing ever or that everyone yet to operate in it is not quite there yet, so I wonder. Are they not better things to aspire to like Love and being like Christ?
This very topic of gifts and tongues and how we tear away at one another to me does a lot of damage to both new believers and unbelievers.

Because I didn’t have it, it seemed like I wasn’t among a certain realm of holiness and that’s why I eventually opted for theological teachings that Allen Parr gives. I am not down playing the gift of speaking in tongues but please I am on my knees, I'm pleading and begging while some are so focused on the manifestation of speaking in tongues please pray for interpretation of dreams and vision because some of us are having repeated dreams that we don't understand. one of the best ways to get interpretation of dreams is to write them down. then go to the place of prayer, speak in tongues, and keep the dream in your spirit. very soon, the lines will start to fall in place and the dream should start to make sense

It gladdens my heart that I found your ministry the time i did in 2021. I had stopped going to church and was falling too far away from the faith. But was helped up greatly when I started following ministries like Andrew Wommack's and also watching Christian creatives before I was introduced to your ministry.
Amongst the creatives I was listening to was Allen Parr but there was something off about the posture of his communications. You could tell that he loved God but at the same time, see the evident Calvinistic inclination and highheadedness. Of course,I learnt a lot from him but eventually stopped watching him when he started calling out gospel musicians and finding faults in many things they put out. Some where constructive but generally, I found that there really wasn't the need for such call outs because most weren't even theological issues and had absolutely nothing to the with the song lyrics.

I used to watch Allen Parr too and his earlier videos were really great. However, after a while I found him to be a bit prideful.
As you mentioned, his comments on Christian music were one example for me. I don’t believe that everything requires open criticism and I don’t believe that someone being led by the Holy Spirit would comment on everything the way Parr does.
His videos are a bit dangerous in my opinion.
I have never seen such explicit teaching. Sir you have my respect and I am grateful because this has and will open the eyes of many. I believe so many bothered Christians now have some confidence in what they do and feel more alive and know they are not doing a wrong thing. Thank you Apostle.

For a believer to receive the baptism of the holy spirit an Apostle would have to lay hands on you or speak the word to you. Then the spirit must cause you to speak in tongues.

@@hehehe23451 ‘For one of these must become a witness with us of his resurrection’ That is the definition of ‘Apostle’ given in this verse you quoted yourself (Acts 1:21-22). So according to that particular text, anyone who witnesses to the resurrection of Jesus is an apostle. Wouldn’t you say our brother Emmanuel Iren is witnessing about Jesus?

i just cannot stop laughing. There's being a battle within me not only because of having watched Allen's video but from my own expereinces and in that same experiences I knew speaking in tongues was the best thing ever and why the battle lasted and I did not give up, this video surely was God sending in reinforcement, not only was this reassuring, I also learnt better how to study the Word - I blasted in tongues and it felt like fresh air. The "babble tongues" of today is not biblical tongues.
The gift still exists, but it is another human language.

Ya every one now is an Apostle. Pastor Iren although he has a zeal of God, it's not after knowledge. He preaches alot of wrong things like he believes a woman can preach, he even appoints women as Pastors, very very shameful. He believes speaking in tongues is the evidence of the Holy Ghost. He believes in the Trinity. He believes water baptism is not for today.. He believes Genesis 6 were angels. The errors goes on and on 🫥
This is not Pastor Iren vs. Allen. What we must prioritise is the proper interpretation of the Bible, no matter what who it is coming from.
And yeah, go back and study the role of an Apostle. He is an Apostle.

Well go watch it again because he was correct on the matter. Saul was writing a letter of rebuke because the church Corinth was formally pagans and pagans speak the same way. If the gift of tongues was not a known language and if we are suppose to speak in gibberish why Yahusha HaMashiach didn’t speak of it when he was teaching the model prayer? Sure He wouldn’t have forgot to mention of such a thing. People need to read their scripture more carefully and closely because it is telling you and me the opposite of your position and it is clear as day.

Hey man, respectfully I think you need to finish my video with Allen Parr. It’s bizarre you played that one clip as we covered the entirety of 1 Corinthians 14. I’m not sure if you’re just busy or intentionally did that. But your comment here is out of pocket as we went through multiple passages. Please finish that conversation. Because Allen did concede this can be wrong.
If he conceded, it may be beneficial to remove the original video. I just received the gift and when I was looking for videos on it, his video against it was one of the first t come up. I think that video can be dangerous.
Just be humble and do a shout out to this Pastor. Learn to be clear in the presentation of truth. You guys are not clear sometimes in the expression of scriptures and you confuse people.
He should take off that video because it is misleading and that is how truth is thwarted

I remember when I was just trying to navigate speaking in tongues in school 2019, and I went on CZcams, and I watched a video of Allen Parr' where he said (I am paraphrasing) that speaking in tongues forms some sort of hierarchy and classism in church where people who speak in tongues feel they are better than those who don't, while those who don't may feel like they are not Christian enough, and now that I am thinking back, that gave me and others in the comments leverage to not bother on speaking in tongues because why should anyone think I am not Christian enough because I can't speak "gibberish"?
But thank God I know better. I knew better back then not to be so consumed by what he said because my Christian friends who made me know CCI go press my neck if I give any excuse 😂😂, plus, Nifemi, a CCI member who is the lead facilitator of Viral Community once said in our fellowships that "even if it's only 1 person that should speak it tongues, it will be me".
If speaking in tongues separates Christians as first class ones or second class ones, I will be among the first class, and glory to God that God doesn't even see it that way.
In a bid to accommodate something you can't understand or explain, people have led others to the same error, instead of taking time out to actually learn and seek knowledge.
May God help us. Our faces have been unveiled by the truth of God's word, may certain "figures" in the faith not use that same word to use blanket to wrap our faces and necks, and I pray also that the eyes of their understanding is opened.

I remember watching Parl's video on the subject, and feeling so uneasy about it... The Holy Spirit within me was so grieved by his teaching that I didn't have peace for a few weeks. I knew something was wrong and that it definitely was from God, specially after I had witnessed supernatural divine encounters because of tongues. It didn't take long before I unsubscribed and spoke in tongues even more than I did before... I just knew the enemy was out here robbing people of something so precious that many would end up becoming Christian walking zombie👌. This video just put into words everything I felt and what God taught me about tongues... People of God, keep speaking in tongues, that's where divine power dwells and mysteries of heaven are being unlocked.❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
This was my exact experience. It’s clear that people are being used by the enemy when I personally know without the shadow of a doubt what my experience was with tongues. I was filled and continue to speak in tongues of no power of my own. Parr is the very definition of a false teacher and it grieves me. SMH

I actually convinced myself that tongues is not for everyone. I know sometimes the tongues don't flow, but I've experienced speaking those strange words fluently for several minutes, and I'm an extremely logical person, just like Thomas (especially the way he's depicted in The Chosen)😂 I don't do things that don't make sense to me. I felt it's a language that's recognizable. But I recently watched a video of a Kazakhstan reporter and he sounded like a generator 😂😂😂 if someone spoke like that on the altar, we would make good money on the comedy skits, also there are several ancient and extinct languages. Again, everything doesn't have to make complete sense. I've started letting go of things I thought I knew. I started speaking in tongues just before I turned 22 this April (best birthday gift ever)

@@jinduogbugh2887When I first spoke in tongues, I wasn't praying to. All I knew is that I wanted this wonderful presence I felt around me in me.
I prayed first for that and then when God filled me with the Holy Spirit, the pastor who was present told me to surrender my tongue to the Holy Spirit.
So I stopped thanking the Lord for answering me prayer, opened my mouth and started relaxing my tongue as a way of surrendering it.
After maybe fifteen seconds I felt the Holy Spirit seize control of my tongue and I started fluently speaking in the spiritual language that we call tongues.
The joy I felt was overwhelming. I was so full of joy I was beside myself. I thought, no wonder these pentecostals shout, dance, and run the aisles. True joy will make you act out of character you are so happy.
When you pray to be filled with the Holy Spirit keep doing it until it happens. You will know when it does because it is a powerful experience.
I agree but I also think there are some gifts given to certain people and not others so that we can fulfill our purpose!!

I know Allen Parr very well here in America. He’s an evangelical Christian and has a Baptist background. Baptists and those in the Reformed circles here in America are commonly known for holding very conservative views on tongues, healing and spiritual gifts. The more extreme Baptists, evangelicals, and reformed pastors here in America believe the era of tongues and spiritual gifts has passed. They are called Cessationists. They are the likes of John MacArthur, Steve Lawson, Voodie Baucham, Paul Washer, R.C Sproul etc. They don’t believe in prophecy. They don’t believe there are still prophets and apostles today after the first century apostles and prophets died. This is what most evangelical pastors in America believe. They condemn Pentecostals and Charismatics and even see us as heretics. And to add, they are very strong proponents of eternal security doctrine. They are core Calvinists.
Because of Allen Parr’s background in that kind of setting, that’s why he has very distorted views on tongues and spiritual gifts. In fact He has even done a video that condemned the fact that any and every Christian can cast out demons
