    Thank you! I have looking for my first keyboard and after narrowing it down to just a few, the Numa Compact 2X has become the favourite. But I really wanted to hear the drums on their own (it's important that I can write my own drum parts) but none of the reviews even feature the drums. This must be my fifteenth review video in the last 12 hours and finally, at 6am, I find one that features the drum sounds individually! Thank you!
    And yes, they're acceptable, and now this - well the 2x- is my fave to buy!

    I'm a bit late to react to this review, but I'm thinking about getting a Numa Compact 2X. However, in your review and others on youtube, I've noticed that the keys can be really 'clacky' : they make quite a lot of noise when playing. Seems like low quality. Should I be worried ? I also have the Korg Kross 2 88, which you also reviewed and that keybed is fantastic. I realize that the Numa is only semi-weighted, but still, a bit worried about the 'plasticky clackiness'. What's your opinion ?

    • @joycechahinepiano
      @joycechahinepiano  Před 5 lety +3

      Christof Roeyaert hello! Yes they feel quite different. The Korg has a beautiful weighted action for a keyboard - the Numa is marketed as semi-weighted but they are quite light to the touch. The clackiness is probably from me being classical trained, so I am over articulating to compensate on a digital rather than acoustic piano. Good luck!

  • @superblondeDotOrg
    @superblondeDotOrg Před 5 lety +1

    since you are classical pianist, you have an experienced opinion, do you still like the feel of the keys on the numa? for playing classical or jazz or etc? i need to buy a 1st electric piano within this month or next, after playing acoustic piano since summer and studying piano in 1st year music composition & performance studies, practicing a variety of beginner/intermediate pieces including classical and jazz standards. this one seems excellent, has speakers, portable, usb powered, light to carry, small to store, all midi features too. my other choice is the new yamaha p121 which is small/light 73 key, 10kg (22 lbs), electric piano with very limited features altho it has yamaha GHS ("graded hammer standard") key feel, weight-wise it is heavier, physically taller and thicker, and almost as wide as the numa 88 key. so actually the yamaha p121 73-key is physically bigger than this numa compact 88 key. as typical the piano instructors say "get semi weighted or fully weighted keyboard if possible" to learn proper dynamics. so anyway, how do you feel about the playability now? your playing in this video sounded excellent.

    • @joycechahinepiano
      @joycechahinepiano  Před 5 lety

      superblonde thanks for your comment! Yes this keyboard definitely has all of those features. Unfortunately, the weight of the keys was a bit of downfall for me - they are quite light and definitely will not help you in building your pianistic technique! As a teacher, I would also advise looking into digital pianos or at least semi/fully weighted keyboards! The yamaha will definitely have better quality hammer action than this one. Hope this helps!

    • @joycechahinepiano
      @joycechahinepiano  Před 5 lety

      Having played it for a little bit now, i can say my Korg Kross 2 (video coming soon) is a much better option. Still light - 12kg, fully weighted keys, much more synth/midi capabilities, more ports and inputs. BUT no external speakers 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

    • @superblondeDotOrg
      @superblondeDotOrg Před 5 lety

      @@joycechahinepiano wow excellent reply. so I will take that advice on the keys. kross2 was the first one I was window shopping repeatedly because it looks so fantastic and all the features, amazing sound and arranger. there are two versions and they have different keyboards. KROSS2-61: 61-note (velocity sensitive, aftertouch not supported) / 3.8 kg / 8.38lbs / 935 x 269 x 88 mm / 36.81" x 10.59" x 3.46" -vs- KROSS2-88: 88-note NH keyboard (natural weighted hammer action, velocity sensitive, aftertouch not supported) / 12.3 kg / 27.12lbs / 1,448 x 383 x 136 mm / 57.01" x 15.08" x 5.35". ..... you must have the Kross2-88, naturally weighted keys, it is perfect, except simply too physically large at 57" length for me, this isnt helped by the way korg put the pitch wheels to the left of the keys making it even longer, whereas all the compact keyboards put it above/behind the keys so the entire length is shorter. the Kross2-61 is amazing in physical size. it was the one I was going to get. but the keybed is like a plastic organ I guess, which I've been told is not suitable for piano, so I scratched it off my list. it is great that both run on batteries even if no internal speakers, since there are many small portable battery powered speakers to buy for phones and such which can be plugged in. if there were a kross2-73-compact with weighted-piano-feel keys then it would be perfect but it doesnt exist! as far as I looked. i even looked at nord electro 73HP because it has shorter length, and even though the price tag $$$ is thru the roof, the keybed is supposedly professional feel in a truly compact portable instrument. so now i will lean back towards the yamaha p121, 73 keys at 44" long. i guess another benefit is that any yamaha will probably keep higher resale value when i outgrow it and sell it to upgrade. I played the p125 (88 key version) and p121 (73 key version) at a store and the keys feel great on both, the features are identical on both other than number of keys, but as far as features and given buttons, it is really too dumbed down for anything other than learning & playing standard piano on a natural feeling keybed, really it's only workaround is that it has USB MIDI so a laptop can be used for arrangements and such, I didnt even like the p121's built-in metronome, the keyboard doesnt even provide a way to show the tempo because there is no display. either yamaha was really confused when they did the design, or they are really sticking it to the consumer to force them into higher price shopping of their more expensive keyboards by purposely taking away essential items like a BPM display of the rhythms.

    Hi. Thank for your great review) i want to buy this one for using in daw as midi keyboard. The main reason that stops me it`s that sticks. I need to write woodwinds/bases with their slow slides and bends. Will this controller comfortable enough? Or it has very uncontrollable moving and i should look at models with more usual wheels? Thank you.

      @joycechahinepiano  Před 5 lety

      Дмитрий Les hello! Thanks for watching. It’s not the most comfortable controller - and it is above the keys rather than next to them on the left. This is of course results in a smaller more compact keyboard and you can get used to it....

    I am not happy with the "grand" sound. Why is it that it sounds so artificial? But then again, it is "in tune" (of course, all electronic instruments are) and it has a lot of effects which you can not obtain on a stringed instrument. I am seriously in doubt about why. The piano sound on my (old) Korg M1 was as good. The new (very expensive) Korg Kronos (2) is said to have better Grand-Sampling.

    • @adrianfundescu5407
      @adrianfundescu5407 Před 5 lety +2

      .[-))),It is said;-)).My God...you missed the last 30 years ,or so.Ok.First M 1 piano is absolutely unbearable today,even if it did the job somehow in the 80 's and it was Korg's great keyboard of that time.But things changed with the Triton series(if you play an Extreme 88 there's agreat Bosendorfer)and M 3 .Great pianos there too.And kronos continues at that chapter .Anyway...if you want to spend not so much but have a great piano /synth/sampler Triton extreme 88 or M 3 expanded 88 are absolutely fine.

      Don't forget that you're hearing the internal speakers which are functional but basically like computer speakers. Slightly better than a Yamaha Reface, for example. The Kronos is a flagship instrument. The pianos are each several GB larger than the entire wave ROM of this instrument.
