Studiologic, the creator of Fatar keyboards, is one of our Italian prides installed in every prestigious brand worldwide. They are the Ferraris of keyboards. Moreover, products like Numacompact 2x, NumaPiano, and Sledge are phenomenal objects. These design and production realities need to be defended with determination and promoted. A national pride 🇮🇹

I just found out they were the makers of the Sledge and it made me cry, since that's the synth I had my eye on. Ordering next week. A lack of Fatar keys is the ONLY instant no-sell for a keyboard synth for me.

FATAR is a bit like the Ferrari of keyboards in product and corporate ownership/management sense. Italian people dedicated to their craft, doing one thing and doing it well. Congratulazioni anche a FATAR e all'Italia!

One week after reiceving my Numa 2x, I mistakenly plugged it to the wrong AC adapter: 30 V (from my vacuum cleaner) instead of 12 V. Result: black smoke. Surprisingly, the keyboards was still functioning when plugged to USB-C, but I lost the ability of using the speaker and to connect it to the PC as a midi controller.
I then opened the keyboards, detected a burned capacitor, swapped it, and the keyboard is now fully functional. I can say that the keyboard is very well done, and easy to disassemble and fix.

I am an American of Italian descent and I am also glad that Fatar continues to manufacture in Italy. I am aware of the instrument manufacturing tradition of Castelfidardo and Recanati. As a young musician most of my music store purchases were from a very well known and loved music store in Philadelphia known as Cintioli's. I believe that the owner, Benito (Benny) Cintioli, (now sadly passed on) was originally from Castelfidardo. He used to sell his own Cintioli brand accordions in the store along with anything else a pro musician could want. Cintioli's was legendary to all Philly musicians for over half a century.
All four of my grandparents (as well as my mother) emigrated to the USA from Italy in the 1920s and my father's family is from Ascoli Piceno which is in the same region (Marche) but about 20 miles south. I have owned a number of synthesizers of different makes that all had Fatar actions (it was hard to find one not named Yamaha that DIDN'T have a Fatar action.) I also owned four different QuikLok keyboard stands that were all manufactured in Recanati--unfortunately it seems they have moved most of their manufacturing to China--at least for their products that are sold in the USA. I am here today because I have been considering and SL73 and/or a Numa. This video was fascinating and very interesting. Thanks to Doctor Mix for making it available!

I'm a bit disappointed that the whole tour was in English. I would have liked to hear them speak in Italian. If you are a proud manufacturer of Italian keybeds, be proud of your language too and promote it! I think it's not too much to ask of viewers to read subtitles, if you don't understand the language. (I do understand Italian, but even if this was a tour of, say, Yamaha's factory in Japan, I would prefer to hear the native language and would happily read the subtitles).

This was in my opinion the best insight in a keybed and synth factory on your Channel - and its a european Brand, really great. In every step it could be seen the passion and professionality of a keybed manufacturing market leader. What I never thought is, that every keybed must be calibrated. I own a new Fantom 8 with wooden keys. I hope that the Roland keybed has not the same problems which had the wooden Fatar keybed in the past. But the Fatar CEO said, the Problem is already fixed.

I hope they will keep on with this method, because it works perfectly.

Hey Caludio tnx heaps for that video, as an industrial designer myself I'm always amazed by the sophistication of collective work, an the sheer boundless ingenuity of humans (and your music too). Is just unbelievable how much thought goes into anything is designed and produced. I think if people had more understanding of how much work requires to produce things they'll be more mindful and less wasteful with their own stuff.
Love your work! keep it up!

Fatar keybeds are just gorgeous! When they are married to a Studiologic keyboard/controller they have so much 'feel'. You get so many nuances out of them. I really love how this company concentrates on the primary interface between a player and their instrument. I've played some truly awful keybeds that are spongy or springy (and I mean like flicking a ruler on a desk) in my time and it really makes a difference. Their organ keybeds are awesome too!

P.S. Gianni Giudici è un MOSTRO!

Thanks to Fatar and much Love goes to them. Brilliant video, thanks to doctor Mix
Background: I get an old Grand piano from my Grandfather , which was build in Berlin. I played it every day for around 10 years (not as classic player just as music lover and learned compsing) in my 20qm Childs room
Then I started work in music shop and get in touch (away from home and reference) with many big brands (Roland, Yamaha, Korg etc) in the 90ies, but all this was away of my learned feeling of keys. In the year of 2000 I found a masterkeyboard from Kurzweil (with Fatar Keyboard inside). It was for me very near to the feeling I learned. And I still use this great piece of Fatar now over 20years - and it still works.
as a professional DJ I was, as composer I am , as keyboard teacher i was for Yamaha school (and never get warm with Yamaha keys, who also do a lot mechanical simulation of piano keys and I never get warm with)
I am so thankful to Fatar and my next will be again a Fatar Piece
Love snd Thanks to FATAR! ❤

I REALLY wish Studiologic would start making organ keyboards again like the Numa Organ; or even a proper organ style MIDI controller (Fatar TP/80 semi-weighted waterfall keybed) with faders to map to drawbars, and buttons and switches to map to rotary, vibrato etc. There is NO waterfall keybed MIDI controller on the market today which I don't understand, with so many great organ VST's out there!

Wow! Amazing! I love the precision and detail of engineering. The part about key construction and history of materials to prevent warping was very interesting. There seems to be a lot of nostalgia for the old instruments, and I guess that is warranted, but the old instruments are not better than new instruments and subject to the changes in humidity over time. This is a very impressive operation. Now we know why the Numa X GT is $2000, a bargain considering what goes into it. I'm convinced! I'll order a GT from Sweetwater today and use it to drive my Pianotec pianos. Thanks a bunch for this video! It is very entertaining, revealing, and useful! Good stuff!
