For so many years for me that dunk Dr. J did on Michael Cooper with the round house was the best dunk in history, until this dunk did when MJ was trapped, came around and slammed it in Ewing face. Man that was just cold blooded. I was so treated royally being a Chicagoan and able to see every single game the Bulls played during the MJ/Scottie error. Man I miss those days

That was sick, indeed. It looked like he was in trouble over his head for a split second until he spun and burned two defenders to rise up and jam it in one of the best defender ever's ass. He's the Bruce Lee of basketball.

Today's game drives me crazy the way guys will penetrate and have an open lay, go up in the air, and then whip it out for a low percentage 3.
I understand if you drive to the hole, and are met with 2 or 3 stiff defenders, sure they collapse on you, and you get it out to one of you're open guys. I understand that
But it's got to a point where In today's game, when they even have a wide open lay, they'll go up in the air and instead of finishing, they'll whip it way out to a teammate behind the line, for a far lower percentage field goal attempt.
It's gotten out of control. I can't stand watching the NBA because of this!
It's almost seems like the players have been conditioned, or as if there default setting is to drive and kick it out. As if their natural instinct even with a wide open lay is to get in the air and then whip it out for a 3 ball.

The only players that have an in between game are guards, that’s the problem. Most players in the league are wired to shoot three’s or go for dunks. It’s not efficient basketball but ironically it’s based on math from nerds who say you should prioritize getting the most three point shots up. Thankfully in the playoffs you’re seeing a more traditional type of basketball.

@@mikejones9906 Yes, these playoffs have been great so far, very competitive and a good barometer of which players have that special something that allows them to get baskets and simply excel when under the brightest lights.
Brunson is a great example, Donovan Mitchell as well.
I grew watching MJ, He was a great passer. However, when he was driving to the basket, off the dribble, or even on a fast break, when he went up, there was no second guessing himself, and kicking it out while in mid-air.
If He didn't attempt to finish while in mid-air, He would simply slip it to a teammate who would then slam it home.
Guards driving to the basket to draw contact, as well as have the defense collapse in on them to create open shots is being utilized very efficiently these days.
These guards have to prioritize the higher percentage, better shot
Sure, they drive to the hole, if the defense collapses, and there's a bunch of outstretched long ass arms trying to block the attempt, then yeah of course, kick it out to create a better, clearer FGA.
But on a consistent basis, I'm seeing them do this even after they've beaten their defender and have a clear 2 steps to an open lay. It's like it's become many players default mode. Even with a wide open lay, you'll see many even hesitate before finishing, because their mind and body has become so trained to kick it out after driving into the paint.
I will say that Anthony Edwards, even at only 22 has not been conditioned with those type of bad habits. When he drives, his mind and body are not instinctually thinking get the ball to an open man.
He goes up and finishes. But he also will kick it out when the situation calls for it.
But first and foremost, if he's driving and he's already just a couple steps from the iron, He's going up, and he's not getting caught in the air trying to figure out if he should finish or kick it out, like so many players do.
That's one thing I really like about Edwards. Doesn't second guess himself. Cocky tho...

@@yeahimatrollandiluvit8704 Pippen is a better shooter than lebron and probably also Kobe. That is the most important thing in basketball says you. I already beat you. Pippen is better at every aspect of the game and it's not close. I already said better shooter which is the only thing you look at or think about. Lebron was never a good shooter nor a good passer. lebron is the only dumb player that speeds into 5 set defenders getting back and tries to take it 1 on 5 every time and never makes it. That is how he lost to GS. Pippen would do that hop dribble and buy time for the bulls to catch up then he would draw 3 guys and lay it off to Grant, Jordan or Armstrong for an easy Dunk or Layup.
      Pippen better Shooter
      Better Athlete
      Better Defender
      Better Dribbling and Passing.
