So many shallow comments regarding this phone. ("Windows Sucks duuuur")
I value practicality over looks because I don't care if people think my phone looks trendy, I'm not 14. Most people stick their phone in a cover anyway?
The 950 has the best camera after the Panasonic CM1, fast charging, wireless charging, swappable batteries, expandable memory, QHD screen, 1TB of free storage & free access to Office Suite for a year. It is also a mini PC, capable of some basic tasks.
The App gap doesn't exist unless you can't live without Snapchat, then you must question your existence.
Lumia was the first to have offline GPS maps & from my experience works well.
I use them when I go on a ride on my motorbike & I've only had one mishap, two Pubs opposite eachother had their names swapped around. Luckily I read the signs and was able to find the right one *gasp*.

I agree with everything you've explain about 950. I do value practicality over looks. But the Android right now is more stable than Windows Phone. A stable performance is the one that every smartphone OS should overing first. And that what I see from Android and IOS but not yet from W10M, a stable performance.

I'm with you. I use very few apps, the only one I'm missing is an online banking app, but I can live without it. it's far more practical than so called "premium" devices where you cant even add additional storage or swap the battery.

They got greedy, they should have priced it just below a Z5 compact, I personally prefer a plastic back to a glass one, at least there is one side that won't crack then, also wireless charging is useful. I would have bought one to replace my 620, well I am just waiting for the price to come down, my brother has 10 on his 735 which is a great phone, the only let down the camera, but ok for a £120 phone.

Lumia 535 the most sold phone in my country, Why ?
Well, the performance, its fast, its cheap, it has amazing camera for its price.
640 ? well 10-11 hours of web browsing on a single charge , RIch capture, smooth 1080P unlike most of the android phones that advertise 1080P video (talking about budget devices here)
930, 1520, 950, 950XL well, if you dont want windows 10 just now you can get 930 or 1520 which used costs the same as new lumia 640 in market.
ofc the camera sensor is a bit smaller, but it still has 4K recording, slow mo, 1080P 60fps, 20Mpx. Its fast, one is Amoled display, other is Super LCD 3 with ClearBlack if im right. They are ultra fast and smooth. its a 2 year old phone but it can still compete with alot of flagships and beat most of them

I don't understand half the complaints people have about this phone. I bought my Lumia 950xl a week ago and it has been amazing so far. No bugs, no issues of any kind. The UI is so much nicer than Android and a 1000times better than iPhone. As for the design, I actually really like the look of the 950XL, its sleek and it feels great in the hand. The only other windows phone I ever had was the Lumia 800 and I loved that phone too (although the battery died on me very quickly, refused to charge and I had to get a replacement phone). But I will not go back to android anytime soon, android is great but I just love the windows interface so much more. As for iPhone, I refuse to ever own one because I am stubborn like that lol.

Best thing about this device hands down is the camera. Even after getting my Galaxy S7, I still always bring my 950 along for trips to get those brilliant photos. 4k video recorded is also significantly sharper on the 950 compared to the S7. Where the S7 shines over the 950 is in low-light and when moving the camera (like recording while walking).

Explain my friend. I own a Lumia 950 and a >$500 Xperia Z5 Compact. But I don't really understand your comment. W10M is more smooth, less bugs (yeah, since a month or so, before W10M was amess), has a more consistent UI, better camera, MUCH better screen, bigger battery, USB type-C and Continuum. Which can be useful some times! Also, a replaceable back is better than glass. Glass wil crack eventually! On the other side, waterproofing is awesome!

    • @bq5577x
      @bq5577x Před 8 lety +1

What on earth are you saying with this? Most popular apps are available, Instagram, Facebook, Shazam, Fitbit, Netflix, Vine, TuneIn Radio, Spotify, Deezer and the list is going on... What do you miss? Snapchat? Oh dear, stop talking about this, this terrible app is childish and does not make any sense, especially for adult people. Snapchat has only just a half of the users that Instagram has. Not even talking about Facebook!
And apart from that, I have to tell that Snapchat is really unstable, slow and buggy on my Z5. It just sucks, most of the time the filters won't work, the app doesn't respond or is PERMANENTLY out of focus when using flash. Why would I care about having such a poor app on my phone? If you criticize something, give arguments.

After switching from a Nokia 1520 to the Nexus 6P I still find things I really miss about my WP... One big thing is the bluetooth connectivity in the car. Microsoft NAILED this. I have an Android head unit in my car so I figured getting an android phone would make the experience better. I was wrong. On My WP all i did was connect to bluetooth and not only did music play but if a text or message came in it would TELL me.. "New message from _____" and the say "Would you like to reply?" I'd say "Yes" and it would take my message and read it back to me before sending. What does my Nexus do? Nothing... it rings when calls come in but the speaker and mic on the phone are still on so there is an echo.. and it doesn't read any texts or anything.. LOL... Microsoft is light years ahead of Android when it comes to speech to text and hands free like this.

It's basically a reference phone for OEMs, so I can honestly see why Microsoft doesn't seem to care about it, the focus with Windows 10 Mobile is for a lot more OEMs to get on board since Nokia/Microsoft devices take up like 95% of share among Windows Phones and that isn't a good thing.

  • @SherwinSeby

I don't know why a lot of people are complaining about windows 10 mobile. I'm actually quite happy with the way it runs on my Lumia 640. Apart from the occasional lag, it actually runs smoothly, even on it's lower specs. As far as the app gap is concerned, it does exist, but not by a big margin. Also, it isn't Microsoft's fault that google has blocked all of it's services on the platform. Should I remind you, Microsoft did make a really good CZcams app for windows phone 8, which google ended up blocking. And besides, there are a ton of third party apps for Google's services. Like mytube for example, which is an excellent 3rd party CZcams app, which , i can safely say, offers a couple more features than even google's own youtube app for android and IOS, and it is the app i used to post this comment. Another app, that is an excellent 3rd party app, is 6tag, a 3rd party app instagram for the platform. The platform also now offers a well made official instagram app as well. And no, I don't require snapchat. I had a moto g prior to this, running Lollipop, and I can safely say that I'm really quite happy with the change. I'm having a far better overall experience with this 640 with windows 10 mobile.

I don't know, it just hasn't failed me personally like some claim, so yes, while its not an all arounder like iOS, it does serve a niche, whether MS claims to do that or not or aim for it or not, it still serves that niche. Works for me, I'm happy. Thanks again for sharing.

I carry both a Lumia 640 and a Nexus 5 around with me so that if the battery runs out on one, I still have a usable phone for making voice calls. The best thing about my Lumia is the one click option to download the latest 5 copies of all of my iTunes podcasts. The worst thing about my Lumia is the app gap. My latest go to app is the Amazon Prime video player which is of course not available for Windows Phone.

I still think your better off buying something like a lumia 930 or 830 for a fraction of the price, downloading the windows 10 upgrade advisor app (NOT the windows insider app, thats different) and upgrading that way, I have both the 930 and 830 here and both run windows 10 very well.

I have it and I do not have any issues besides the "average battery" but that is a problem for a lot of phones... the OS is solid for a while now, but the main issue for it - lack of some popular apps (even though there are third party apps for youtube, google drive and snapchat as for example)
so this phone does get too much heat :P

I find myself just using my phone for productivity and social media, a lot of it and I love taking pictures. Should I give this phone a chance? Some very good 3D games have been added to the store and maybe it isn't a bad phone at all, my One M8 is dying on me and though it is beautiful, battery life has started to become a problem and I don't think the 801 can handle Marshmallow so well, help me Obi Juan.

I hope Microsoft can get the Surface phone right if they are going to release one. The only thing keeping me from getting a Windows phone is the app store. I love the way the UI looks like and their cameras are phenomenal. Plus if they can get Windows Hello to work very accurately it can smoke fingerprint sensors which aren't very useful

The biggest crime that Microsoft did to the 950/XL was not release it with a cyan back. Talk about dropping the ball on the signature Lumia color. I could buy one from Mozo (the seemingly official Lumia cover manufacturer), but after shipping it's a whopping $68.20 USD. No thanks.Of course I'm exaggerating, there have been many problems with my 950XL, but I'm sure many are already aware of those issues.

I don't think HTC want to. MS made the mistake of flooding the market with Lumias and the HTC 8X phones got completely left behind, so no OEM wanted to make Windows Phones after that. That's why the 950 was released with little fanfare, to give OEMs a chance to make their own Windows Phone. And some new ones are coming out, from HP and Panasonic and a couple of others, but they all seem more business orientated, if it works then great, maybe more consumer focused ones will come out. I'll be happy with the 950 until another OEM enters the market or an elusive Surface Phone makes an appearance.

Windows Phone are great phones with the newest insider build. And will continue to improve with windows 10 anneverasry update this summer. As a former windows phone user, they are my prefered Mobile OS. But they lack the completeness of Ios i my opinion. My hope is that MS will focus mote on their phone line in 2017 as they indicated. I believe :)
