What's more, if anyone tries to tailgate you, inject a bit of fuel directly into the exhaust stream for a 20-foot flame out the tail pipe. They'll get the message to back off pronto!

Do the math !!! A $600 pulse jet compared to a $4000 + APU Jet engine. I agree with Bob Maddox that if it was one of his $1300 100 Ft. pound pulse jet it would be far different. Really you could install 2 of his 100 Ft pound engines under $3000 & smoke that high dollar complicated high dollar turbine. I flew turbines for over 10,000 hours & they are out of the fun dollar hobby like this. Plus they melt down real easy . Neither is practical & different strokes for different folks.
Horribly inefficient way to use an APU at sea level. Relying on thrust sucks for a gas turbine operating on the ground.. They need to re-add the PTO for the APU and couple it to a drive train. You'd get a hell of a lot more acceleration and top speed than you will solely by relying on thrust, at least with this turbine size.
@@voanirges In general turbines have much higher fuel efficiency for the same amount of thrust. Turbines are able to compress the fuel air mixture so that it burns more efficiently, while pules jets burn there fuel at what is basically atmospheric pressure. What pulsejets have on their side is simplicity of design, resistance to debris, and a good thrust to weight ratio. (Unfortunately I don't know exact numbers since I'm not an expert, just an enthusiast.)
not enough oxygen in it if I recall. You can use the tapoof of another turbine to start a turbine because it only takes a little bit to get the compressor speed up, but pulse-jets are a bit picky due to their simpler nature.

Come on man .. That was just dumb , the jet powered trike had some engineering behind it , the pulse jet bike had what ? A hinge in the middle if the frame for steering . At least give these guys both the same frame to ride on . Not only was it an unfair match , but by the loss of the pulse jet guy;s steering control . it was dangerous for doth guys .
reminded me of the New super efficient wind turbine, using jet technology. Why not add a cowling around the exhaust venturi. The drag coefficient will be able to increase thrust and make you happy :-)

A pulse jet has less thrust than a turbine and to be fair, that turbine was much larger than the pulse jet

why don't you use the gas turbine exhaust to start the pulse jet, thinking every day
