- RIG OF THE WEEK - First video of my new series where I just casually pull up a rig and see what happens. No point of the series other than just playing the same riff over and over.

JIZZRAG OF THE WEEK! Hope you guys have a great weekend!
Ola Englund it’s called a belly towel
God ola, it seems you get more and more vulgar over time
Coincidentally, my mom calls me jizzstain of the week. I hate going home for Christmas.
That RAG is getting crusty lol
Get some DR Dimebag Strings to test from NAMM.
"it cures not having balls."
Mesa should use that in their next set of ads.
One of the old Mesa ads for the recto said "it's gonna fuck you up."
In this day and age that would be career suicide lol
@@snapascrew
People that want heavy will get it.
"oh that makes me happy" a few seconds in says it all.
People that want politically correct will never play an amp with this much gain at a volume worth a damn.
To describe this amp, you only need to say three words: *Train Of Thought*
no
Petrucci's tone on that album was and still is jaw dropping
Artificial Insolence Yess!!😍😍🤘
@@davidfaustino4476 gnh hng hng Oi sad sumtin 'bout Nikolbakk
@@snowhunter2112 The solo tone is too dull on that album.
Sir how many tubes would you like to have in your amp?
Ola: YES
all of them
and ALL the rectifiers
Is that Question... Answer Yes, some kind of a meme or so? It's dumb somehow. (-_-')
@@-Christoph Yes
Lol. I've seen that happen before. Ranch or Vinegrette? "YES". LOL.
I really enjoy the fact that the amp has so much high end sizzle the captions say applause lol
and laughter during the chugs! lol
Wow !
@@lichen8855 yes. Captions are the best lol
GUITAR Gateway every time there are guitArs youtube captions “applause”
@@Ottophil ahhhI dont normally turn it on but I would love there to be applause and time Ola played.
I’ve never been a huge Mesa boogie fan but this amp sounds like the most majestic and brutal beast I’ve ever heard
Damn. That's a REAL amp. Every modeler strives to sound half that good.
TheScaredofsilence lots of hype but none of them sound like this
This is one of the best, most brutal modern style amps I've ever heard. It's CRUSHING.
“The point of this series is that there isn’t really a point of this series”
Oh Ola, never change 😄
This amp is so metal that the tube screamer hung himself when you started talking.
the way your tube screamer is just hanging there gives me more anxiety than my crippling student loan debt
Lol.
That is no joke.
It only took me 33 years to pay mine off.
Trade school kids!!! No collage for me. Too busy learning shit.
@I C What if he doesn't want to be a plumber? You can't just bottleneck society into specific career paths becasue some people are priced out. The system has to change so that education isn't a privilege.
Your face when you started with the 7-string! Brilliant! This is the best metal sound. \m/
7 String Tuning: Drop 0la
Go ahead and buy that 6 string bower lol
@@Razrback Go vote in my instagram pole
i love seeing real rigs not just computer software
Same here! I’m not really a fan of all the modeling stuff and software produced and simulated sounds.
@@TroyPosey to me every model thing sounds the same, noisy, low quality and with a weird top end
@Kiss Shot Acerola Orion Heart Under Blade Shinobu - Some have a good tone, but they all sound 2 dimensional and compressed to me. They don’t have that roundness and fullness of the tone that a mic’d up real tube head and real cab have.
@@TroyPosey i'm not much into recording, I'm a 99% live player and playing through sims doesn't sound and feel the same. I must be doing something wrong because my Axe FX sucks dick
Amp sims are really useful for writing and practicing in silence without a big rig, bur nothing beats the fun of playing through a loud ass tube amp
I always get a smile on my face when Ola gets as happy as a child on Christmas when he does some good chugs.
Brings me back ten years when I first watched your channel Ola, love how you work real rigs!
How Cool! Dual Rectifier Road King is my go-to amp always forever and ever! It feels like Christmas every time I play it!
Ditto you feel 20 feet tall when you stand in front of it.
This chugged before you could even say 'Will...'
Great rig! Can’t go wrong with Mesa, but still think your Satan with the 33 sounded the best.
Rename this to "This week's best sh^t"
He said that he gets demonitized if he has "shit" in the title.
@@jensenparker5504 ain't that some shit CZcams needs to get a grip
My favourite "rig" of the week. That tone is unreal! Can't beat a MESA Rectifier for brutal tones. It's a shame MESA ceased production of the Road King/ Roadster series in 2017.
There's a damn good reason why Mesa Boogies are so expensive... That sounds insane.
In Europe I would say they’re not worth it for the money but if you live in America you really get a lot for your money.
You can also buy the Recto 4x12s in good condition for $600 ish and there isn’t a better cabinet out there for the price.
Not only they sound amazing, their build quality is second to none for regular production amps. They’re really built like tanks. Same thing with their cabinets.
This video was worth it just for the noises Ola makes when talking about the Tube Screamer being on.
Yaaaaaayyyyyy nice video - perfect for a short break from practicing for NAMM...
9’26 - KILLER!!!!!!!!
It’s tuned to Type-Ola Negative. 🤘🏻
I love how you go right to the Nevermore riffs. Loomis has some of the chuggiest riffs in metal
I love my Mark series amps...but this'd be the one I'd go for in the Rectifier series. The options are definitely where its at.
When you bring ALL the Balls to the Party you bring a MESA with a MESA Cab. Plus a Tubescreamer :)
If I had money to buy Mesa, I wouldn't have money for that cab, but my 300w 412 Randall Cab is good tho..
“That’s so chunky listen to that.” But ola, we already are here to listen to it. We don’t need the reminder silly swede🤩
I JUST sold my Roadster...because I am an IDIOT!
F
Bruh
You never really know what you miss until it's gone, especially with Mesa amps! Sorry
I passed on one for a great price so I sorta feel the pain.
FWIW, I sold it because I got a Mark V:90. Still tho, buyers remorse...
I am an extremely happy owner of the Roadking Series 1 head and I won't get rid of it, never!!!
Absolute ear candy, that amp sounds Godly!
Ok hear me out here. That is possibly the BEST tone I’ve ever heard on the channel Ola, and I’ve been here since the start. I think I need to sell my Friedman and OG rectifier for one of these... absolutely unreal.
Edward Tainsh mesa makes some sick stuff
Road Kings are awesome and they can actually be had for reasonable prices right now. If you are after one, now would be the time to look.
Send it... pull the trigger
Do it dude. Few people know what a GEM the Roadking is. Everything ppl hate about the other rectifiers, the Road King does not have, It is bigger, less fizzy, and fills the room. Even compared to the Roadster (second best Mesa rectifier), the sound is just totally differentand fatter, even in pure 6l6 mode. I recently picked up a revision blue Bogner Uberschall thinking it was better. When I a/B'd it, the Mesa Roadking was clearly better. In the USA market they go for under $1250 used. I got mine for $850, but it is highly unlikely to find one at that price.
@@BillyRiffinDaTube Yeah sadly im in the UK so Mesa stuff is a lot more cash, well north of £2k. Probably going to sell the Friedman (once its been repaired when lockdown is over XD)
A lot of people turn up the gain, the master, the distortion and everything else they can find on their amp or head and get tons of unwanted noise. This head and cab deliver what John Petrucci was looking for, the "chugg" that stops when you want it. Same here, you can hear it. Mesa engineering rules the amp-industry
Just bought a Roadking II and love how thick it is with that classic rectifier sizzle.
As an owner of a Rd King I can't agree more that it is an orgasmic amp. One thing the video can't show is just how visceral the amp feels when you are in front of it. The cleans are just as good as the crunch! I love to run it in stereo with my Peavey 5150 for pure heavy bliss. If you get a chance Ola use an AB-Y pedal & try it. You'll have a blast.. Your neighbors might cry a little LMAO But man is it great!
Goddamn, that's gotta be the most amazing metal tone I have heard in ages, and by far my favourite of the stuff you've done. (and the previous tones have been tough to beat as well)
I've owned three Recto's throughout the years and to me, that's THE metal tone. Great job Ola!
That’s been my main setup for 27 years omg. I have 4 DR and 1 triple Recto.
There is more chugging in this video than a frat house on a friday night
Lmao dead
I recently purchased a Powered Kemper Rack 600 watts and run the monitor out to the Effect's return of My Mesa Road King II through my Mesa Boogie oversized 4x12 cab with 75 watt celestions , then I run my 600 watt powered output from the Kemper to a 4x12 Krank cabinet with 30 watt Eminence speakers with my Esp Viper II Barotine with Emg pickups and HOLY SHITSTORMS it sounds totally awesome ! Killer video BTW !
You can't go wrong with tube amps they rock!!! This vid should be called "Chug Fest".
More than anything I appreciate your joy and enthusiasm playing through this setup. Sounds great man.
One of your best sounds to date, no contest!
This kind of stuff makes me wonder whether I want to save up for my first car or an amp of the same price.
cars die way too fast ;)
Get the amp, stay fit, take the bus 👍
dgmwitz DGM dude a 3k car is not worth it
Amp! I'm a car guy, but I had an amp before a car. No ragrets!
"Euheueyheuha your Tubescreamer's not on Ola, euhahanuyuahah!!!"
Ive played Mesa for 11 years now and I've always gotten compliments on the tone, especially when I bought my Mark V 25. Greatest amp company for metal.
I have a Recto clone that I play through a 1×12 with a vintage 30.I do not have space to open up a real Recto, but the sound I get is awesome.I like to roll back the gain and get a nice grind kind of distortion sound.OMG hives me goose bumps playing it.Especially for some harder southern clasic rock tunes. It gives them new life.Recto 4 life!
My roadster with the traditional rectifier cab was my favorite ever. Granted I don’t go below drop C...
Do your office neighbors like the rig of the week?
7:00, nobody working yet... the real reason he is up early!
Of course they do
It's only 100dBA :P
@@bikesnbeerz at the rear of the cab
@@LSlava hahahaha i didnt catch that until you mentioned it. Holy hell ola is going to go deaf
If Ola ever gets a Neural DSP plugin I hope this amp is on it lol
Mike F He has one but it’s based off his Randall Satan and it sounds awesome. It’s the Natas
Justin Morse That's not a signature plugin for Ola; that's just what Neural did with Fortin
@@jacobsmith1877 It's close enough, he endorsed it and basically said it's modeled after the Satan.
Honestly they all sound the same, it's the Cab Sim & your Impulse that's going to make the biggest difference.
8:56 i always liked the road king versus the normal dual rec except with an equalizer through the effects loop. never tried it in a road king with all the tubes running never had to.............oh dang.........damn...........slam. ..........who's the king baby!
The CC for this is 🔥. The muted chugs tend to register as (applause) after the chords show (music).
I've had a v1 Roadking for a long time. It's a killer.
Gee, what do you play now?
5:17 made me cry lmao
Mine is maybe from the first batch. The serial number is RK-00099. It left the factory in Feb 2002.
I always wanted to have this when it was new and it still destroys everything in my opinion
My brother has been playing his Mesa Dual Rect. for over 10 years now, and I've been patiently waiting for him to sell it to me, cause he said he would. I'll probably die still waiting, but honestly, the wait would be worth it.
I remember you could customize the shit out of these new. I always wanted one. I remember there were as many controls on the back as on the front? Amazing amp. Surprised you don't see more of these. 🎶🎸
Silly me customized mine with Red Croc and diamond treadplate... I'll have it till I die. Pretty much does everything except low volume, even at 30 watts 2x12 🤣🤘🏻
The Road King and the Mark V are the ultimate amps Mesa has ever made. It’s a shame they don’t make this one anymore. You will never hear a metal rhythm chug tone better than this. Ola has never sounded better. This is your amp, dude. How could you use anything else? If money was no object, I would have a Road King for rhythm and a Mark V for cleans and lead.
Thanks Ola, I have the roadking 2 .. some thing but love to see you rockin it!
Nothing says good morning like 100+ dbs of Mesa Boogie awesomeness! :D
I feel that because there are so many manufacturers and modelers and sims people often forget how amazing the dual rectifier actually is. The best amp I ever owned was my roadster and not because it had 4 channels! I only used the one! Lol
Wish I had the money to build an amp. I know exactly what I want but can't afford to do it. Mostly exactly, there's a couple things I haven't decided or figure out.
Not sure what case I would put this in but this is a basic idea of what I would love to do -
Channel 1. Marshal clean circuit taken from an actual Marshall (not sure which one yet) for the clean.
Channel 2. Peavey 5150 distortion channel
Channel 3. Mesa tube rectifier pulled from a dual rectifier distortion channel
Channel 4. Deizel Vh4 circiuit 3rd channel I believe for the distortion channel.
All of them would just be the circuits from the amps then combined into a single board and ran to the output and would have a master volume.
Then ran through EVM12's.
I own Mark IV, was not a big fun of Recrifier series but in this video it sounded very nice.
It sounds like a rectifier for people who don't like rectifiers, I love it.
Greetings Ola .. I used to have an RK I, alas, I sold it .. now I'm looking to replace it.
I 'know' they say the RK II has better clean channels .. but, I don't care about this so much. I want to know .. are channels 3 and 4 truly the same as the original RK I ?
You should compare an RK I vs RK II to find the truth. Rock on \m/
I love solar washburn 6 string red with cabinet clean noise
DONE, that riff at 9:25 is fucking killer.
This is the best Solar & Mesa Boogie ad ever
THIS !!!!
Thanks Ola for playing your guitars through this rig. That has made my mind up on buying a couple of your Solar guitars, so thank you. I own this same rig and use the G major rack mount. LOVE this set up.
Had a Mesa Trem o Verb back in the day. Can never go wrong with Mesa. Have a Peavy XXX now, the poor man’s Mesa.
That is one of the best tones I've heard!! That thing is a monster!!
I had a road king and it was super versatile. But also was the heaviest weight amp I've ever picked up. Got rid of it because I like my tripple better.
The Amp just screams "FUCK YOU NEIGHBORS!!!" 🤣
8:56 best "Will it chug" ever!
This is and was always my favourite amp but cranking it on the lead 2 channel is not what I had in mind with this
This is like a Mesa and Timotei commercial in one clip. Amazing as always
I while back when I was buying my first Boogie, your Mark V videos helped me make my final decision. love this new series, keep them coming!
WOW Ola. Hope NAMM goes well for you and i hope you will be filming it to alot of it. Get some DR Dimebag Strings and test them. I have heard nothing but good things about them, alot of people are very suprised by them against other top brands.
im hurting physically watching that tubescreamer hang by that bent cable
Geebuz!!! With the tube screamer that thing sounds massive!!
Dude, I dig that it doesn't smog up the house with carbon monoxide like the dump truck i was using to get modern rock sound.
I live when Ola just busts out random Nevermore riffs. Damn Scandinavians. Mass produced metal robots.
Loomis is an American.
@@bobbyosborne2375 I know dude. But he's also a big blonde viking lookin ass savage.
I think you summed it up quite nicely Ola ...
7:32
the sound of the 7-string is so enjoyable...I love that sound so much.
After years of listening to digital amps and new amps on the market... dude there is no fucking way to beat the old-school stuff. and that is a bit scary because we should be moving forward... yet here we are with the best still being the old stuff...
I LOVE the Road King 2. My favorite amps are (in no particular order): JVM410H, Road King 2, and SLO100.
Thanks for the video! I'm firing up my brother's Road King. He hasn't used it in 5 years and it's way different than my Dual Rectifier Solo Head. Your video was useful.
That amp, that guitar. Fuck yes.
That's A-mesa-ing. The way Ola generally pronounces the word amazing anyways. 😘🤘🏼
I gotta say when you plugged in that 7 shit got REAL

I finally got a Maxon OD-808 for my Mesa Nomad 100. I recently tried, 12ay7s in V1&V2. The rest are 12ax7a in V3 through V5. I use an Empress Para EQ to globally adjust the overall tone. I try to get the channels balanced without having to use the Maxon OD808. But, it is a subtle improvement compared to the Boss BD-2. Loved how the 7 string sounded with the Roadstar.
I don't exactly know why, But I loved watching and hearing you have fun reminiscing with an old flame.... and I know Louise understands! Ever~Chugging~Ola!
O:25 only a Mesa Boogie gives you that Gunk Gunk Gunk, Gunk Gunk Gunk.
Only a Boogie.
Ahhh...Mesa/Boogie. The god king of all amplifier manufacturing.
Glad to see true tone isnt dead. Lone live tube amps
This is objectively the best distortion you can have
Hey Ola, your videos got me back into playing metal guitar after a stint in the hospital in 2011. Great stuff man I hope you have an awesome 2020!
