  • Stephen King has written a bevy of great horror stories throughout the decades and most of them have been made into films. But add to it the talent of another auteur, and you've got the makings of a great and unique film, which is why we're covering John Carpenter's Christine!

Written, Narrated and Edited by Tyler Nichols
Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols
    Executive Producer by Berge Garabedian
SERIES SYNOPSIS: Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?

I love Christine. The sequences of the car driving on fire and the car squeezing self do they cramped alley were creepy. John Carpenter really made the material his own.

I remember watching this on HBO as a kid one weekend and was floored by how much I liked it. Figuring out it was a Carpenter movie made sense and made me love it even more. The atmosphere is amazing. The car fixing itself is still so sick looking.

In high school I read this book over and over and over. It felt so much like my actual high school experience.

The scenes with the old man are gold. I love the scene when he tells Stockwell, you don't know half as much as you think you know.

Christine what was the first Stephen King novel I had ever read. I loved it so much because it was more than a tale of horror, it was a very personal story about a friendship. A lifelong friendship between Dennis and Arnie that completely went off the rails once Arnie discovered Christine. In the novel, the first third of the book is told from Dennis’s point of you which makes it so compelling for me.

I was visiting my brother back in 2015 in California and we saw a red 58 plymouth sitting outside a small bookstore a few blocks from his apartment in Burbank. we stopped to take a look at it and we were surprised it was one of the ACTUAL survivor cars. and inside the book store they had a meet and greet with cast and crew, for the cast they had Alexandra Paul, and all the guys who played Buddy and his gang, for the crew they had a producer, a co screen writer, the co composer, the stunt driver of some of the cars. I got a signed blu ray of all of them on both sides of it, and I got a pic of me and Alexandra and me next to one of the cars it was the highlight of my trip.

No else does atmosphere, tone, mood and music like Carpenter. I remember watching this for the first time as a kid on VHS but it was recorded off of TV and despite the quality I still enjoyed every second of it. It's still the best of it's kind when it comes to the killer car subgenre and holds up well. I always wanted more King/Carpenter collaborations and it's a shame we never got more. It could've been an epic pairing for occasional adaptations. But at least we do get awesome horror content from Joblo every week! Keep the content coming guys.

Some people say that Arnie is simply "obsessed" with Christine, rather than possessed. I say this was a film about POSSESSION.

It's crazy that John Carpenter said his heart wasn't in this movie. He was very upset that his version of the thing was a flop. But despite that, this movie turned out so good. The special effects were fantastic. As was the soundtrack. Keith Gordon was excellent too. I love this movie and I love 58 plymouths because of it.

The scene in the car plant is great. Christine is the only coloured car and they film it like the car is a woman being followed by some creepy guy perving on her. If they do a re-make, it's hard to imagine it with any other car.

What makes movie-Christine's evil more interesting is it's paradoxically more human. There's no "black magic" about who she kills or why. She kills people who disrespect her. She kills people who disrespect "her man" (but only after she's convinced he's the right guy for her). She tries to kill anyone who thinks they can come between them,

I don’t think it needs a remake. I would prefer a prequel of the time when George Lebay own Christine. Now I think that would be cool!

This is one of those movies, like Psycho, where I just can't see the point of a remake. Is there even a chance they can improve it?

I actually love this movie I love the musical score in the background of course my three favorite scenes is when he tells Christine show me. Which is basically a sex scene check out the background music. When she chases Moochie. Then crushes him into a loading dock. And of course when she chases Buddy down the highway on fire. And that is no CGI. This is during the all-or-nothing days.

I was a HS Senior when this came out and was so impressed how scary it was with out the blood and gore. Being a kid obsessed with cars and a Mopar guy, I did read the book and found it slightly different in the story like about the true evil.

Keith Gordon ( Arnie Cunningham) was a live stream guest on a Horror Channel I watch. He seemed like an absolutely great guy. Very nice to chat to and spoke of his time filming the movie in great detail. It’s a classic with great Carpenter music too. One of my faves.

I love the Christine soundtrack. I find myself driving to the theme song regularly.
