Excellent explanation. Failure and challenges during digital transformation are sometimes inevitable but it is also important to be aware of the things that can hinder the success of the transformation to save time and money.

This ideas from Eric are very good, this how many business owners should think instead of following the paths of vendor providers.

    Great content Eric.
I think your second point around designing end to end processes before seeing the system or designing system is a little bit of chicken and egg.
If, for example, you're taking the vanilla approach with out of the box functionality and processes you need to know how the system processes impact business process. So I would argue you can't always think about org. design and business e2e processes without knowing what the system will do to impact the aforementioned.

That's actually the argument you get from system implementation vendors, and that's also a common misconception in the market that companies fall into. Defining your Business Processes & Requirements should be technology agnostic. Business Processing Mapping is where you define your current statuses. Business Process Modeling is where you define how it should be or what you want it to be. Upon selecting technology, you perform gap analysis between your business processes and the system capabilities, and you address these gaps with either workarounds or customization. This is the best way to do it. Business should drive technology and not the other way around.

In the event that the business process Is not mature or undefined, there is the option of building prototypes and have walk throughs on a specific sub process - this is more time consuming, however, it allows the end users to become more involved with the product.

Often, the Vendor will want to do the discovery process and help define the BPM (value add). This is part of the SOW and quote. They need this to implement the solution either way and will argue the value and costs. So, does an organization spend money on a BA to define these processes or, trust the vendor? Are they Agnostic or selling their own solution?

@@mohammadabusafieh4220 According to my experience in years, I agree with him to combine the busine process and the software system. There is no business process which must have nothing to do with the system, and the users always change their idea and demand when they actually touch the system. You are too idealism, and your idea are too theorizing.
