  • Our first voyage aboard Cunards' Queen Elizabeth, or any Cunard cruise for that matter, meant we were able to finally see if its Food and Restaurants were as good was people say they are, and now we are finally able to judge Cunard ourselves with our Food and Restaurant Review.
    Cunard's Queen Elizabeth Cruise Ship has a reputation for outstanding food and drink, and you may have already watched our Cunards' Beverage Package review, if not the link is below. For a long time we have been curious as to whether Cunard would be too stuffy for us, and was Queen Elizabeth able to compete with the new cruise ships massive choices when it comes to food.
    As usual with our review videos, our commentary is done in a single take to give you our honest, non-scripted opinions. And as always our videos and all content is shot by us, in 4K and no stock images are used.

    We believe the Bread you will see in this review at The Steakhouse at the Verandah is the best bread we've ever eaten on land or sea. Do you think you've had a better, let us know where, and what made it so good 😀 Linzi and Mark

      The best bread I have ever had was at this Pub in San Francisco. I think they detached the building and brought it over from England on a ship and rebuilt it. They had a brunch buffet and gave fresh warm baked bread with fresh butter. We ate so much bread that we were too full to eat any of the expensive foods 🤣

    Loved it! We've sailed all three queens (Platinum/World Club) and we embark from Tokyo on the Betty 24MAY/23 in a Q3 for trans-Pacific en-route to YVR. First trip, however, since covid on Cunard -- tend to sail Silversea with her smaller ships since the pandemic -- and hence wanted to see if there was some detailed footage of the QE and her menu since we sailed on her last in a Q2. Your (and husband's) enthusiasm is a delight to watch! I shall take new notice of all the details you have beautifully pointed out for the viewers on the menus which I have taken for granted in past voyages. On a side bar, truly appreciated the reference you made to the scones. Devon v. Cornwall? Hmm. Must now look into that. My husband and I (gay couple in our early-50s celebrating our 26th anniversary this year) have a weakness for a good afternoon tea - we often select airlines/routes from the UK to the US to see if they still do a version of it in J class. Golf clap to you, keep making such lovely postings.
    P.S. I love a choppy sea. Sleep like a baby - always. But my husb. does not. It's a bit of a joke between us. On one trip on the Vicky, the gales were so strong one night the stemware and books in the stateroom were on the floor in the morning. Scattered and shattered. I slept right through it. ;-)

      So are you a Devon or Cornwall scone person?😂
      And WOW. That is deep sleeping if that didn't wake you. We'd have both been awake and probably one of us slightly green.
      Really looking forward to our next Cunard trip, in August, on QM2 Fjords which should be the perfect time of year for it 🤞

    We were on the same cruise and you did well making it to the end of the meal on the first gala night. I couldn’t make it out of the cabin, my missus ended up down in the MDR and they moved our Verandah reservation to the last gala night. She also brought me a plate of ginger back which I couldn’t eat and I also had to politely refuse a surf and turf dinner that room service tried to deliver. Rest of the cruise was fine and food was excellent. Bread and lobster cocktail in the Verandah was amazing, steaks were pretty good too.

      Oh no Richard. We did speak to loads of people in the similar situation that night who skipped dinner altogether. We can only imagine Marks comments if they’d have tried to deliver a surf and turf that night as room service 😂
      Glad to hear you did get back in there later on the cruise though as it really is a great restaurant and don’t get us thinking about THAT bread again. So good.

    Loved this video and think you two are great. We're booked on the QE for a TransAtlantic May 2, 2022. We'll be coming back to our home in Florida after ten days in the UK and an eastbound crossing on Celebrity. We've sailed on Cunard before (the QMII), and enjoyed it. We're Americans and like many of us Yanks, we're not so much into the formality of the cruise. What do gentlemen wear during the day? Are shorts acceptable attire? Is the Lido open for dinner and can you remain less formal when eating there?

    • @SuiteNatured
      @SuiteNatured  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you for watching and such a lovely comment :)
      Don’t worry some of us brits really don’t like the formality either 😂
      During the day it’s the same as pretty much any other cruise line. People in jeans, t-shirts and shorts (if the weather allows) and in an evening there are (on a seven night cruise) two gala nights/formal dress. Although they are themed. We had a black and white nights and a 20’s themed one. So not just usual black tie thing. And to be honest it was not too bad. Certainly no more “stuffy” than any other cruise line with formal nights. So don’t worry at all.
      On the lido. Yes it opens in an evening too and yes no jackets required in there in the evening. We saw people in jeans and polo shirts there. We won’t spoil it too much as our full QE2 detailed review is up tomorrow afternoon. Linzi & Mark

      @SuiteNatured  Před 2 lety +1

    We must be missing something. We were on the cruise. Our first and last cruise on Cunard of 34 cruises with various lines in many parts of the world.
    I know you shouldn't compare cruise lines but we thought the good was mediocre in the Britannia restaurant. In the buffet the hot food was lukewarm. Our room service breakfast was incorrect 12 days out of 13 and we gave up on the coffee and tea as it was hardly even warm.
    We had the captain's wine package. Not bad.
    Loved the ship. Loved the dress code and dressing up and the entertainment was good.
    We can't remember the last time we complained on a cruise but overall we gave Cunard 5 out of ten which was our lowest score ever for a cruise.
    We summed up Cunard as a being akin to a restaurant that thinks it's better than it is and is doing you a favour serving you.
    We're back on Celebrity next month and can't wait.
    I guess were all different.

    • @SuiteNatured
      @SuiteNatured  Před 2 lety +5

      Hi Jim, thanks for the comment and of course for checking out our video.
      We don't think you have missed something, we have been on cruises that we really did not have a good time on, and had similar experiences to you (NCL springs to mind), and could not understand why everyone was saying how good it was, and it was like we were on a different cruise.
      All that we can do is say what it was like for us personally (unless we see something really obvious). This was, as we said our first Cunard Cruise, so we couldn't compare it other Cunard ones, but we could to all the cruises we had been on, like you.
      Our particular experience on Queen Elizabeth was on the whole very positive which is why we gave it the score we did. We didn't have any lukewarm food, the one time we got room service it was exactly right and on time, and the Britannia restaurant was good each time, although we only had dinner in there three times on a seven night cruise as we ate elsewhere on other nights.
      But liking your restaurant analogy, we have been into restaurants we love, and have great reputations, and on occasion they have been less than good, and on other occasions amazing. I guess if we look at Cruise lines in that way, after all they are floating hotels, then we know not everyone gets the best experience every time.
      Ultimately you have to choose how to spend your vacation time, and if you've decided Cunard is not for you, then it is not for you (our experience of NCL was the same to us for a LONG time), but it may well be worth considering the brand new ship Queen Anne when she comes into service in 2024?
      Again thank you for taking time to watch our video and leave such a great comment, and we hope your next cruise is Awesome. Linzi & Mark

It’s only the third time Mark had been sea sick and it was just a perfect mix of the swell and rocking side to side in the bay of Biscay. There were so many people not well that night. They gave some stronger tablets at the guest services and he had no issues again. And could still drink too :)
