TBH you could fold the river on the very last hand.
Villain did show aggression but not in check back lines to then overbet the river 3x.
You should have given more though about your range and his range before calling. You would've pieced together as well. I think about it this way: once we check call the turn we mainly only have bluffcatchers OTR. Either we have a K, Q, 3x, some Jhigh diamonds and straights. Villain is no fish. 3x pot makes us fold what ? Qx? Jhigh diamonds? Vs all the time we snap trip Ks +? Villain never bluffs to that sizing on that line.
We shouldn't give a shit that we having trip kings, we only having a bluffcatch with very poor odds on a very likely undebluff node from villain. It's super easy to thin value for villain, but makes no sense to bluff for that sizing against your range construction.
I'm a mtt player but i also have a HU background. I think that there are 2 factors that are key to HU success that mtt players that are not so used to. Given the lack of practice in HU metagame scenarios (it's very easy to lack practice on HU given the abundancy of other topics that one has to focus to become a strong mtt player). First of all comes node resistance, which is, how often your opponent show resistance on a certain aspect of the gametree. Being it HU, the amount of data that you collect per hand from your opponent is greater then in any other format, because we really only having 2 starting ranges(SB and BB). It's very important we are able to distinguish the range construction and then its polarity in all nodes.
Given the polarity of his limping range pre + check flop, how likely do you think it is for him to show up with a bluff river on that node?
We can't forget that this spot is a Stab Range for IP, we can't forget how often villain has been cbetting his air vs his SD value. It's also much more important to always keep in mind that in HU if we play our range in a certain fashion we give loads more information then in a regular spot in a 8max mtt. That is true for villain as well.
Using this combo counting + range analyses perspective we have on the river that: our range is mainly composed of bluffcatchers and villain mainly has SD value given his range polarity for pre and flop. So villain always shows up OTR with value hands now like Kx that we now split, villain has QQ full as well, and some JT. vs what bluffs? The likelyhood that villain bets all his air OTF is very high, the likelyhood that he checks the flop, to then bet blind OTT, just to then 3x jam the river with air is absurd.
Yeah long analyzes but it shows how much information we can gather from opponents tendencies, and how it allows extreme plays in extreme scenarios

2:11 I think you should 3bet fold in this situation with icm. His shoving range is JJ+ AKo+ so you are never ahead

In theory he should have bluffs which lead to calls with TT imo
But vs JJ+ ofc not good

@@Humanprototype-wh8qr maybe he has a bluff every now and then, but seems unlikely with the 2 short stacks. There is alot of icm. Also his 3bet looks nutted as fuck vs these ranges and utg+2 can also be trapping kk and aa.

Yeh i’ve been on holiday the last few weeks so haven’t had chance to look but it’s definitely a close spot i think. My initial thought was that bc was cover him i think it’s fine + we have added incentive with the extra chips from the caller. And with the raise instead of shove it means we can get out the way if the caller ends up shoving incase has has traps

I’d probs agree I played the HU a bit weaker than I should have against this opponent but it’s also easier to make assumptions based on YT edits. I obvs have to edit everything down a lot for YT vid and i just didn’t really hit anything throughout the whole HU match and in the highlights here too, yeh I agree there is gunna be some spots perhaps i needed to be more sticky but again I didn’t have a lot of favourable runouts either so idk if i’d go as far as saying he owned me- thanks for watching anyway
