This video takes us along the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route, through the beautiful state of Idaho - probably one of the most underrated states for overlanding. On this trip, we tackle some of the sections that stopped us on the Overland Movie.

I finally got my Mom a smart TV and introduced her to CZcams. Last night I get this LOOOONG text about this awesome show she is watching. Blah, blah beautiful this... amazing that... you know, right? She insisted that I MUST watch it, that I would really like it... and I did. I honestly really enjoyed it. And now I want to go camping... and NOT in my RV.
Thanks for a GREAT video! Blessings and Love from a Mother and her Son in central Texas.
oooh good
I grew up in part of the area you went through. We worked a farm/ranch right on the Salmon River. We had about a mile of river on the edge of the place. I had no idea how sweet that was as a kid. We went to Florence several times as a kid. I joined the military out of high school. Couldn't wait to get out of Idaho. Traveled a fair amount of the globe in the military and been in almost every state (missing 5). I came to realize there aren't many places like Idaho. Retired a couple years ago and came back. We live on 60 acres outside of Wallace now. Beautiful country and great people.
Oooo you live in such a beautiful area. Would love to move up there one day.🙏🏻👌🏻
i can relate...when i was still in grade school we left boise for lakefork. 6 miles from mccall- when the population of mccall was still under 800 ppl...and the lumber mill was still running. and living up there it certainly was a family effort to work your ass off during the summer just to survive the winters. so as a kid, leaving the "big city" to move up north SUCKED. i wouldnt of changed it for the world now knowing the value of all that hard work...when i moved out of mccall at 18, i moved to warren, only spent two years up there...want to talk about a special breed of people...when you only have 3months of a year to get firewood, which you NEED to survive due to no electricity(unles you run generators) no running water, only out houses, and the only way in or out after september is snow machine, and the road is closed from northbeach in mccall on up. so all you youngsters out there, want to do a real challenge?
@@shiner4mIDAHO Do you think there is any way to have McCall and Idaho as a whole return to that?
I grew up in the northern part of Idaho. Fern Creek, CDA, lived in Rathdrum. My sis who lives in Cataldo took us all on a few "back country" roads. Was really awesome!
Idaho native here.
The Moose fire burned over 130,000 acres. It wasn’t fully contained until the end of October.
It was the largest active wildfire in the US this year.
It was incredible harsh on the city of Salmon this year.
It’s the 3rd year in a row my travel plans(and many others) for adventure riding have had to be altered for fires, due to peoples reckless and irresponsible behaviors.
That’s the one we saw right after putting out someone else’s fire. It could have been so easily avoided too.
@@RevereOverland it was so incredibly dry this summer in central Idaho.
so annoying. its unfortunate so many people are uneducated like this. just take a step back, and think for a second. its not difficult even if youre clueless. common sense not so common!!
Yeah I was working in Salmon during the fire. It's unfortunate so much of Idaho was set to fire
@@michaeledwards6890 like what - what was the exact cause?
Shhhh...first rule about Idaho is...nobody talks about Idaho. 😁
Please.! You wouldn't like it here.
As a person who's traveled to 48 states, this place is truly amazing. It's one of my Top 5 Favourites.
What are the two left
@@giovannisilva998I believe Hawaii and Alaska
@@giovannisilva998 ye Alaska and Hawaii
@@prathamkhanal1956 yep that's right
What area of Idaho did you like the best? Thank you
Only 26 minutes in and the cinematography, music selection, all of it… freaking EPIC! Well done, Sir!
Smokey the Bear would be so proud of you for putting out that smoldering camp fire at 54:58 ! Beautiful adventure Man ! Thanks !
I feel like we were doing what any decent human would do. Unfortunately there are too many that don't bother!
My mother was born in jarbridge, where you started,I've kicked around most of the places you toured,I'm 4 generations Idaho,my heart was in my throat, tears of love in my eyes the whole trip.thank you
Rob you're sound edit on this is stellar. It's so cool to see this through your lens and creative editing. You are gonna make folks fall in love with Idaho!
Thanks, Will! NVBDR next?
@@RevereOverland Agreed!!! Justin M. could learn a lot from this. . .
@@RevereOverland That sounds pretty fun to me!
You both did an amazing job and it was really cool to watch both and see the different perspectives. - also Rob, huge congratulations on becoming a dad!
Which is not good at all!
Rob I watched this on my 70 “ tv and man what an awesome trip very nice job. Fantastic scenery. 😊
Mix the Clamato with beer just enough to make the beer red. Delicious!
Big up the Red Beer!
Thank you SO MUCH for this! This is one the BEST overland videos I've EVER watched. I live in North Idaho and have seen and done a lot, but nothing can match your drone/video/editing skills showing so much more than could ever be experienced on the ground!
Idaho,es muy bonito tube la oportunidad de conocer la ciudad de boise, con gusto volveré a visitar ese hermoso estado.
Enjoyed the video of the trip. Will is my son-in-law. We certainly enjoyed the two days with you. Good luck as a father--kids are what make life worthwhile! Hope to see you again sometime.
I like watching these as a native Idahoan. It's always fun seeing how many of my spots they end up visiting.
This one's count was exactly a lot.
Great job Rob! Love your videography and soundtrack combos, what a fun viewing experience! Congratulations (to both of you) on the birth of your sweet baby boy!
Thanks!
We passed through Idaho on our way from San Diego, CA to Yellowstone. I was caught off guard at how beautiful it was. We really want to go back. Great footage here. Video is too long but enjoyed a few min of it. Thanks
I grew up in in Mountain Home and have spent a lot of time in pine and prairie and have been all over the mountains up there, and also have spent a lot of time in Rocky Bar and Atlanata. Seeing this video really makes me want to do the whole trip.
I'm in mtn home too born and raised. I'm a gold prospector and love the area I live in . I do videos too but not near as good as these this video was awsome
@@buffalokrisgoldprospecting that is pretty cool it's actually kind of hard to find people that actually live here
That ending! So glad you made it back. And that you have a healthy baby. My wife went into labor when I was 5 hours away from home buying a camper for our truck so I totally appreciate it. And kudos for already having taking the little one out. Lastly, great video of the Idaho BDR. As someone who will hopefully be moving to Idaho sooner than later, I appreciate you sharing your experience and all the sights from this trip!
I’m in Washington State, my brother now lives in Idaho and my brother loves it. My wife and I enjoyed watching your fist video. We are close to going camping anytime we want. Your rigs that were used looked good. My wife could not use a ladder daily. So good you had fun and hope your live goes well. Thanks!
The teeny, tiny un-max traxxs! 😂 Perfect for the new teeny addition to your crew. Congrats!
I grew up I'm north Idaho and foot stomped ALL those mountains. Earned my Sub. & please keep it coming. I'll be searching for your PCT vid next!
I used to live in boise and work as flight instructor. Fun to see the areas I used to overland with such great cinematography and music. You made it look amazing! I cant wait until I can go back.
It's a beautiful part of the world!
I have goosebumps from watching this..just absolutely beatiful..wow
Great video Rob, beautiful scenery and wonderful footage! Love the addition of the comments over the radio.
Appreciation!! That’s the definition of this video. First, If I was your father, I would be so proud of you! Second, the way you showed your point of view of nature in the way you’re commenting the history of the places you visited in this video will affect in such positive way, is amazing! And third, you have grown so much your skills in producing, editing, timeline and everything else that it does really keep us engaged throughout the whole video even though is so long .. bro , this is like a movie that kept us on edge the whole time… Well Done!!! Good job!!! Keep up the good work!
I really appreciate you adding who’s talking and what rig they drive when talking on the radio. I haven’t noticed my normal off-roaders doing that yet. But it’s really appreciated!
I loved this video - never realized how beautiful Idaho was.
If this video doesn’t stir ANY ONES sense of adventure, then you have to be dead inside. What a beautiful video. Thanks for sharing this with us! 🙂
I guess I am dead inside. Lived in Mountain Home for 8 years this video missed so many of the great things of Idaho.
Did the IBDR last June/July... Love seeing this vid and remembering back to those roads and views!!
Burnt Knob Lookout on the cliff is so neat at 52:00. Also, the Bear Grass being so thick is impressive. You did a very professional job with filming, wonderful drone shots, editing. Area around Avery, Idaho is neat with old railroad and so many tunnels and bridges. Glad your newborn baby was healthy. Thanks for sharing.
I just watched the entirety of this video. You went right through my backyard, so too speak. I live in McCall, Idaho and travel all of the country from Deadwood Reservoir to Elk City and beyond. You covered it well. Very nicely done.
You have the most amazing drone shots. My wife watched some with me and asked if it was a commercial. Love watching your videos.
Excellent video. Can't wait to experience Idaho. Congrats on the newest addition to the family.
Right on guys. I live in Idaho and I'm a gold prospector. I actually mine in my videos in the area of the boise river near that trollie deal u guys showed. This video was awsome. Thank u
Any luck? Gold sure is high now...
Beautiful work, brother! Your camera and editing skills have increased! Much love, health and happiness to you and your family...
Congratulations to your wife and you for your new son ! This was a beautiful video ! Thank you 😊🙏
You keep upping your game with every video. That's radio audio with id's in the bottom corner is class. Seriously amazing work that just keeps getting better and better. Thanks Rob, for sharing your travels. Awesome stuff!
Thank you! Sorting through the radio chatter makes the editing take a LOT longer, but I think it’s worth it.
@@RevereOverland definitely worth it. Gives the vid a very pro produced feel. And, your cinematography... Especially those drone shots. You've really outdone yourself man. Shared it on FB too. Super impressed. (And I'm digging the history lessons at each stop. Very important for context. Even if it's just a stairway to heaven, lol)
That show was beautiful, I love Idaho, congrats on the baby boy.
Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing this with us.
I’ve gotten to where I enjoy the cinematography almost more than the over landing. You have a gift.
Been to that bus and all over that area.
Really cool to see you guys in my stomping grounds, Hemlock, French mountain, Pierce, Headquarters, Grandmother Wilderness area, and etc. These areas I grew up in and still go there often for snowmobiling and overlanding.
Rob. I watch just about everyone's videos and you really do the best presentation of all. Thanks so much for this effort. I'm definitely putting this on my bucket list. ❤️❤️
Thanks for showing me parts of my original home state that I've never seen. Born & raised in southern Idaho. My favorite places are the crystal clear lakes of the Sawtooth Mountains. Now in N Florida.
I’ve been all over Idaho. My favorite is magruder corridor all the fire tower roads are good times
What another incredible video with great scenery views , stunning pictures, videography and awesome sound. This is so way better than watching any discovery channel documentaries. You rock. And congrats to the new parents for such beautiful bundle of joy. Enjoy and manny blessings. Keep those videos coming.
Keep uploading videos like this . The way he explained everything was easy to understand. Thank you,🙂
Glad this popped up in my feed. Amazing trip video!
Great videos. My wife and I vacationed in Boise Idaho a year ago to visit family and contemplated moving there it was really nice. In reference to the Clamato, we drink it with an opt.(XX Mexican) Beer, celery salt, Worcestershire sauce, tabasco sauce, lime juice, salt. I don't think it has any clams in it. LOL. Enjoy!
My Mum; originally from London, lived in Boise for quite a few years, and I kid you not...is probably most responsible for introducing the ol' clamato "Red Beer" to the state and more people than anyone before or since! R.I.P. Polly Ell...
Excellent film footage...thank you so much for sharing.
Idaho... I mean California is so beautiful. Yep, definitely all in California. Let's all go to California. 👍
Yep....send 'em all down Cali! ✌😉👌
Lol. Funny part is there are some places in Cali that look like this.
Don’t you hate the freedom men fought and died for
Sad CA is one of the most beautiful states, with so much opportunity to work hard and get paaaid but comes with the worst policies
They did it to us here in oregon. They’ll do it to you too :/
Wonderful production. Will need to go up there on one of our trips. It looks lovely and hopefully less crowded than Utah or Colorado. As an Overlander and not a big rock crawler I like following your videos as they are more scenic and travel minded rather than who can drive over the roughest most dangerous terrain. Congrats on the new baby. As a Tech Director for a school I do get the month of July off. Wish I got 2 months off like at my old school...
First time watching your channel.
And I really enjoyed it, Great comradery, Beautiful views really love the river.
Wish wish I was there !
Glad I woke up early! Watching start to finish. So much work and awesome filmmaking Rob. And what an ending. You got your priorities straight. 👍
That was all luck on the timing! She wasn’t due for another 6 weeks!
Congratulations new dad Rob! Great video. My favorite CZcams video ever!!
Super good quality video all around, incredible! Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Fantastic!! Thank you for sharing!! I’ve NEVER seen so much bear grass!!!

Congrats on becoming a father! 👊
Great editing! Beautiful work. I love your video. Thanks guys.
Absolutely beautiful. Great video I enjoy every single minute of it . Thank you for sharing this video
Great content and trail history. I really appreciate when videographers include details about the spaces they explore. Looking forward to more!
Awesome night drone shots. Congrats on the baby
This looks like where I was cycling to. From Liberty Lake, WA to Magee Airport, ID. I used to attend college at NIC in Coeur d'Alene. There is a mystery of Idaho that is infectious. I love it.
Absolutely awesome video!!! Thank you! ❤
I usually don't remember to like videos. This one absolutely had me remember! Thank you for the inspiring video!
Excellent vídeo! Beautiful sceneries.
Very well done overall!
Spectacular footage of gorgeous Idaho !! Too bad it’s so cold… thanks for this😊
Great place. Camped at this out outlook for 2 nights in 2019
Dang, looks like fun. Great video work!
Great video with awesome drone shots thank you for sharing.
Love the views!! And like always your drone footage is so amazing!
Just breathtaking thanks for sharing!!!
Rob another GREAT film. I didnt even notice the time fly by while watching it. your style of overlanding is what I like best. Thanks again
Thanks!
I just found your videos! And I'm watching the one you're calling incredible idaho! I have sat here with my chin on my chest LOL and my heart racing and chill after chill after chill LOL! I don't get to Camp anymore but when my boys were younger and my husband was still alive that was our favorite thing to do. R o u g h camping. I've been to seven different countries many states in the United States. BUT the best vacation I've ever had in my life was with my two boys and my little brother 3 weeks in a place called Paint Creek! I have really enjoyed this incredible trip to the mountains of Idaho with you guys. It's been wonderful.. I am a 77 year old great-grandmother from the mountains of Tennessee near the Great Smoky Mountains. Now that I have found you I will continue to watch! Love it😊😊😊😊
Wow so crazy I was there about a year ago! Tip for anyone who wants to go, don’t go early in the season unless you’re ok with scratches on your vehicle lol 😅
Congrats with new baby..thanks for great vids ..safe travels
Please, please keep more of this content coming!!!!
First class video Rob. Keep them coming.
Awesome footage and editing! Never thought of how beautiful Idaho is, will have to make a trek out that way someday.
My husband and I enjoyed your trip. Thanks for sharing😊!
Nice shots and wonderful content. I did laugh at 28:44. Apparently you need all that gear to make it through that "massive" snowbank. 🙂
What fantastic views! I may have to add ID to my future overlanding list.
As I watch this video, I'm reminded of the ancient connection between humans and the wild. The fusion of overlanding, untamed nature, and camping is a visceral representation of our primal longing for exploration and communion with the Earth. It beckons us to rediscover the beauty and serenity that exist beyond the confines of our routines.
Amazing video and trip. Congrats on your your baby son!
Love the river boats and the US flags! Beautiful!
Flags, lol
@@SD-pi9co Funny, huh?
@@clane1700 Yes, the infatuation with symbols in American culture is funny. Muh flags!

Gonna say hey even before I get though the ads. This is gonna be an awesome video!
I hope so! Now I just need it to do well...
An amazing adventure. Thanks for sharing 👍
Another gorgeous video of a gorgeous part of the country.
Came to N.Idaho in 1989. After all these years and land prices, expensive now,rhe place is incredible
Shhhhh.☝️. Million dollar condos...way too many new homes. The lake shore is being consumed. You say North Idaho...Sandpoint here.
This is absolutely beautiful….top notch! Thank you! 🌻
Your overlanding channel is one of my favorite go to channels. Great job!!! This is a great video.
Simply enchanting, thank you.
I used to log in Lowman. Nice to see it again. Thank you.
Great video! Really enjoyed it! Borrtex is always an exquisite choice for cinematic movies. Loved the score!
Awesome trip!! I wish all the best for you, your wife, and baby !!!
Thanks for the beautiful views I have never seen Idaho didn't realize it is beautiful
