My uncle Wayne Bowers was on the show circa 1976-77 as the truth teller. His unusual story was having nearly 20 brain surgeries after a tumor was discovered near his cerebellum. His illness was detected in the early 70’s. So this type of surgery was primitive and experimental at best. He was never expected to survive. But he went on to live a full life. I would be thrilled to find his episode someday. If anyone knows where to retrieve specific episodes, please let me know. I stayed home from school just to watch it. I was about 8 or 9 years old, and never forgot how excited I was to see my uncle on TV. Unfortunately, he passed in 2016 at age 68. RIP Uncle Wayne, I love you!

I'm currently reading his book, almost done. Amazing amazing amazing. Although he's a criminal you find yourself cheering and urging him on. A classic tale, one of the most interesting and to think all of this before his 21st. The movie doesn't do justice to what he achieved. Nothing at all. As a doctor he tended to the emergency room as well as the ENTIRE hospital, overseeing. He did that for 11 months. Passed the Bar after his 3rd try, posing as a Harvard grad lawyer who decided to be a pilot. He posed as an FBI agent to return to a bank where he cashed a fake check. He remembered he wrote his real name and dads address on the back of. So he called the bank, said the FBI would be there in 5 mins to get the check. He walked in, took it back and nobody noticed his real name on the back. Oh and he smashed sooooooo many girl's. Soooo many, all mid 20s or later before he was 18! Oh also just on top, he lectured as a doctor in sociology for a semester. Wtf hey haha.

It's terrific to see the actual show. Now I can appreciate how the movie
used a seamless blend of original footage and re-enactments with
    Leonardo DiCaprio. Some observations:
    1. I thought it was strange how in the movie the host sounded like he
was cut off after saying 0:40 "...and you’re gonna see what I mean" -
turns out that he was cut off, because in the original footage he goes
on to say 0:41 "...right after we meet our panel." I guess the movie cut
out his introduction of the panel to save time.
    2. Frank Abagnale Jr. was born in 1948 and the show aired in 1977, so
that makes him 28/29 at the time of the show, but 2:47 he looks like
    he's in his 40s.
    3. The show said that 3:08 he cashed $2.5 million in bad checks - but
the movie said $4 million. Who to believe?
