I much prefer this one over the former Roman numbers version. It finally doesn't look like it's copied cheapy of Cartier, and it looks like a completely unique take of a square dress watch. 👌 Beautiful modern looking piece ♡
I bought one of these for myself last year because I always wanted a tank style watch but didn't want something that was trying to be a Cartier homage. It was between this or the Oris Rectangular and I'm very happy with the Longines. In fact it has become one of my favorite watches of all time. The sector dial is really well done and looks so fantastic in real life. Pictures just don't do it justice. There are a lot of subtle beautiful touches to it, from the blue hands to the different surface textures. It also wears perfectly. I would say it feels like a 37mm round watch which is exactly my sweet spot for a dress watch. The crown is a bit tough to grip, but I do get what they were going for here and I'm willing to deal with it considering it matches the overall art deco look of the case.
Just received my dolce vita sector dial and its absolutely stunning. The size is perfect. Works on different straps. The detail is amazing and so different to your standard dress watches. Yes its not a cartier or a JLC but i actually prefer this from a design perspective than the other 2. Absolutely gorgeous. I finally have a dress watch that i adore! I was going to pull the trigger on the heritage sector dial but the lack of polished finishing stopped me. Then i found this lurking on the longines website. So glad i did
Bought one of these recently (the slightly larger size) and I absolutely love it. The sector dial is gorgeous and the watch wears well on my quite slim wrist!
Great video, I always forget about this model. My dream is a Reverso small seconds, but I'm also not likely to ever spend the $10K CAD to get one, so the Longines might be a good alternative.
Thye Longines Dolce Vita is about the only tank watch I really want (since I can't afford a JLC Reverso). This model with the Arabic numerals and sector dial is simply a beautiful dress watch. Pure class.
The B&M Hampton 10528 sits in between this and the Tank Americaine price wise, and should be considered if you're interested in a rectangular case IMO. 🙂
The sector dial really makes a huge difference, especially in 28.2*47mm case, where the proprtions appear more harmoneous (and also less Cartien and JLC reminescent).
I got mine a few days ago, but I prefer the textured/flinqué dial with Roman numerals. I also got it in a bracelet. Running at +/-0 so that’s great. Only complaints are the crown being smooth, as you mentioned and there should be a no date option.
@@darthmiguel I did when I first got it, but it seems to have become quieter over time. Or maybe I just have louder watches now, so it doesn’t bother me as much? Not sure. My Montblanc is a rattletrap and that’s been my daily, so when I wear the DolceVita, it seems quiet by comparison.
I had the same problem. I found it a pain to wind because the crown was so slippy. After a while it became painful. Has the roman numerals one but sold it on. I just bought the sector dial because I missed it lol.
I bought one just two days ago and am waiting for it to arrive. I hadn't found any interesting video about it and not even to say it, here it is two days later. Now I can't wait to try it out. 🔥
Honestly, this is the first tank-style watch I actually LIKE. I think that sector dial looks a hell of a lot better than the typical roman-numeral type you see on these types of watches. Just a shame I never have a reason to have a "dressy" watch or I'd be seriously looking at one of these.
Wear it anyway. I have seen pictures of people with this watch and a nice sweater or even a casual button down shirt - still looks great. I am probably going to buy one of these, and will wear it to work, or even with my jeans. I don’t think the watch rules really matter these days.
Received My Longines Dolcevita today From Teddy’s on line Store. I just want to thank you teddy and your Staff for such a smooth Transaction! The watch is beautiful, I ordered it on Saturday night and it was delivered to my house today, It was packaged professionally and was very Happy to wear it Tonight ! The watch is everything I hoped for. It’s my first rectangular Watch in my 32 watch collection and it didn’t disappoint. Thank you once again. Waiting for your longines sector Watch to come back in stock so I can purchase that as well. GREAT JOB!
It's a great watch and I've always liked it. Classy and elegant style. Teddy, great video! You covered the essentials specs, which I greatly appreciated. It would have been nice to see some other variations of the watch, perhaps in gold and other dial options. I've also seen a quartz variation if your budget doesn't allow for something like the one featured here.
This is a lovely watch. Between this and the Cartier Tank Americaine, I would go for this Longines Dolce Vita Sector Dial. I prefer this Art Deco style over that of Cartier watch's Roman numerals style. Longines has been on a roll for the past 3-4 years.
I like the elongated Americaine style case shape. It is a charming design and I would like to see Longines create a rectangular movement to fit the case like the Reverso.
This model has been on the back burner of my want list simmering away for quite some time. It's available in the sector dial reviewed here and a white/silver textured 'guilloche' finish that also looks good. It's one of those that just hasn't made it to the top of my list. I have the round Logines Sector dial and love it, this rectangular version would complement it very well. The date execution is often a hit or miss affair on a lot of watches but I think on this It's pretty well done (the round sector dial has no date). Last year this watch was starting to crawl up the list and then Oris released the new rectangular watches with different colours that are also tempting at a similar price. A few for me to think about for a possible purchase at some point. As usual Teddy a great review, thankyou for sharing.
This would much more fitting with the bead of rice bracelet like one with black sector, though I doubt Longines would ever make that, so this with a bead of rice bracelet would looks very cool.
@@watchnerds I went for the leather strap version (the AD didn't have a bracelet version), I might look at bracelet options in the future at some point but I'm more than happy with what I have right now. A beads of rice bracelet would look great but is not showing as an option on the Longines UK site for the Dolce Vita sector version.
awesome as always, got the women's Longines Dolce Vita with roman numerals for my lady for christmas, incredible timepiece for the price, I'd love a men's version--- !!!! I'm a Longines lover now!!
Totally missed this video. Just saw this watch in person - total sleeper ❤. This is definitely a manly sized Cartier alternative. The dial oozes JLC in person.
I enjoyed the DolceVita when I owned it, especially the vintage rectilinear look and curved crystal. I did find the crown uncomfortable to use and the date window too small. The rotor was a bit noisy. However, it is a versatile timepiece, a great value, and I note that French President Macron has been photographed wearing it.
I want to first say I'm a fan of Longines and own two of their watches, the Dolce Vita is one of them. Teddy didn't mention that the date on Longines watches doesn't change until 50 minutes past midnight. I understand it's a lower end brand and keep my expectations realistic but it's 2023. An instant date change isn't revolutionary technology. If Longines insists on including date windows to sell their watches, this needs to be fixed.

This is Unique and better than the reverso roman numeral..flat style. The Longines sector shade difference with date option is great with numbers on 4 directions.
I do like rectangular/square watches. This has a beautiful look. This fills this vacant price niche/segment nicely. I personally have a Seiko SUP880 - quartz but Seiko, solar and ultra thin that is extremely affordable. For me this will fill the niche nicely until I get to the point in my collection of looking into the JLC Reverso or Cartier Santos.
Love this! I’d love a run through moonphase watches. I’m on the hunt for a daily, not too dressy, not too sporty watch with a date and moonphase complication… larger models are better for my 8.25 inch wrist
Rectangular watches take dress watch to its ultimate conclusion. This watch makes a dress Grand Seiko look like a Seiko Arnie. If you are going to go dress watch, go all the way.
Haven't even gotten into the video yet but I saw this watch at a jewelry store and fell in love now I was about to watch this review on it stating it's the best rectangular watch for $1500 yet when you click on his link it's $1775 I'm from Canada so convert that to cad and that about 2414 at that rate I could just buy it from the store I walked into in the mall probably could even get a 10-15% discount Because I'm in person at the store. Not sure if I should even watch the video feel swindled having the video state it's $1500 but actually it's $275 more then that
This is a beautiful watch but in my opinion, rectangular watches should be on the smaller side. That is why I am much more interested in the size of the Oris rectangular. Any plans to review that one?
Nice watch. Can you make a side by side comparison of Cartier Tank Americaine and Longines Dolce Vita both mid size with roman numbers. It would be nice to see the differences since one costs more than twice as much as the other.
How would you compare this to the oris rectangular? They're pretty close on price, and the oris does get the bloom, which doesn't make it break it.. but still nice to see.
Honestly if your talking about saving up more money and getting something more expensive, I would personally buy a JLC Reverso Duoface. Yes it's four to five times the price of a Tank Must, but I personally just prefer the design, and the crown on the Tank would be a no go for me. But thats personal opinion. Great watch, but I think if you go classic you should save up for a Cartier Tank for her and a Santos or a JLC Reverso for him. Teddy what about value after let’s say 5-10 years if you compare those 3 watches to each other?
Have just found these after looking at Reverso for a while. Not at top of my list yet but getting closer. Love the clean appearance, has it got AR on glass? Thanks
Oh, also it was hard for me to decide between the DolceVita and the Frederique Constant 'Carree' but I know everyone in the comments is going to talk about the Oris. Nothing special there IMO. The FC has Breguet style hands -my weakness.
Matt did you buy the FC? I love the blue dial version but I cant’t find it anywhere. Some of the reviews I’ve read say it’s too chunky on the wrist, especially for me with my wee 6.75 in

I notice a lot of watches with a cross in the middle. Why do watch makers do this? Design choice that is just expected by consumers, or horological connection?
I tried both on and this version is the perfect size for my 6.75in wrist. I thought it would be too chunky, but it sits nice and flat on the wrist. The lugs hang off my wrist on the larger version, way too large for a dress watch in my opinion. I’ll be getting this version for my 30th in a few months
While i love longines, i am not as familiar with this line. My initial reaction is that its cool, but slightly overpriced. Somewhere closer to $1k would make this more interesting of a prospect. As of my comment, this watch retails for $1,775. Once you approach $2k range, you might as well save for a cartier tank must even despite it being quartz.

This model is very nice but the ones where they stole the dial design directly fro Cartier really hurts their credibility.
