Have there been any efforts been made to propagate any of these rare plants? I am a small grower who specializes in succulents and would be interested in helping to preserve.

you can propagate this succulent by leaf cutting, stem cutting, seed easily

There are videos about it, here on CZcams, of people's misconceptions that they can help conserve Succulent species by propagation, etc.
Once we REMOVE the plant from its natural habitat, we are harming, not helping.
If we propagate it elsewhere, it won't matter if we clone thousands. We have already biologically changed it.
The only thing we achieved, was to dwindle the natural population.
Yes, we may mass grow it in a greenhouse, sell millions online. But the natural species in their own territory is gone. The ones from greenhouses would never look the same, be the same.
That is why these Countries are so protective over these plant species.

Funny that you think you’d be helping. You would be ruining thousands of years of evolution taking it away from its natural habitat

Lost me at "save the feral horses" after a lecture on how one plant disappearing will have a chain effect and wipe out multiple others... BUT protect the FERAL horses. Who are likely EATING the rare plants.

I own a welwitschia mirabilis here in the U.S. I didn't take it though, i think it was grown from seed. But as far as how they acquired it..i don't know...
