I used to work at Electric Umbrella a few years ago, went back right before they shut down this year (last day for EU was Feb 15, 2019) Some of my old coworkers/leaders were still there and I got to chat w/ them. They said the whole building was being redone and there was a possibility of a restaurant opening back up in the same location, but weren't told anything concrete. All of the current EU cast members have been moved to work at the quick service area in Odyssey and a burger booth in the Test Track area that was set to open in March/April. With the new Space 220 restaurant opening so close to the old EU location, I don't think anyone is keeping their hopes up that it will be returning:(

Bringing starbucks into the parks was one of the worst things disney ever did. We lost an edy's ice cream parlor AND the main street bakery to that prefab corporate monstrosity. The two restaurants in the Italy pavilion used to be a Florida branch of Alfredo di Roma, until 2007 when Patina Foods began running the restaurant, and renamed it Tutto Italia. In 2010, the space was renovated and the pizzeria, Via Napoli was added. Then in 2012, Tutto Italia received a wine bar named Tutto Gusto, carved from excess floor space in Tutto Italia.

Nine Dragons serves the most basic of American style Chinese foods and I'm sure other places in World Showcase like the Mexico Pavilion serves Americanized versions of "ethnic" foods you can find all over the country. I wish there were more authentic eateries in those pavilions, for example a hot pot restaurant would be awesome in the China pavilion. I always find the more authentic foods to be more exciting, flavorful and definitely healthier

The Joffrey’s and Starbucks aren’t all that out of character for Disney. The parks used to heavily depend on corporate sponsorships and partnerships. The Stargate and Sunrise Terrace restaurants at Epcot weren’t obscure, at least not at the time of their existence. They might be obscure now with people who either didn’t visit at the time of their existence or were not yet born or old enough to remember them.
They, along with the Odyssey, the Farmers Market at the Land, and the Liberty Inn at the American Adventure, were the only restaurants that served typical American fast food.
In case you’re wondering why anyone would actually want to eat typical American fast food at Epcot, there were plenty of families, including my own, that had children who were picky eaters who weren’t ready yet to try the more unique or unusual food found elsewhere at Epcot.
I was one of those picky eaters as were my two sisters to a lesser degree. Now that I’m an adult, I do enjoy the more unique and high-quality food available at Epcot.
