As a long-term fan of the Jasper, I find this performance thrilling. Seldom have they displayed such confidence and sustained musicality. Mendelssohn requires performers who can serf he waves of his long expositions. If you're struggling to keep up, it can sound as if both you and he are mailing it in. Nothing like that here! Bravo!

When the musicians, here, close their eyes and engage their bodies in the music they are creating, what is happening intellectually in their minds? Their bodies become tethered to that music. But where does the imagination go? What is seen or thought in the mind?
