Yuja is always magic. Her playing is effortless, relaxed, and totally confident.

What a wonderful piece composed by a 15 year old and played by a terrific group of musicians!

I really like this piece and performance. If you like "classical" music written by young composer you should have a look at the violin concerto written by Alma Deutscher when she was 9 and at her piano concerto written when she was 12! There are incredible works!

As always, Mendelssohn is such a bejewelled beauty of Harmony! There is this heraldic spirit that lies within everything Mendelssohn composed. The Piano Sextet is performed by talented musicians interacting together in an amzazing pinnacle of sublime melody.

Felix Mendelssohn - Piano Sextet in D major Op. posth. 110, MWV Q 16 (1824)
    I. Allegro vivace (D-dur) - 0:42
    II. Adagio (Fis-dur) - 11:55
    III. Menuetto. Agitato (d-moll) - Trio (F-dur) - 16:50
    IV. Allegro vivace (D-dur) - Allegro con fuoco (d-moll) - 19:13
Thank you for a wonderful performance of this piece! It's quiet uneasy to find any interpretation that would be even partly as brilliant as this one.

Great performance. Beautiful work, especially that finale` a la Brahms, with its brilliant beginning ending with a somber tempestuous note.

How can the Finale be "alla Brahms".??.......Brahms was "alla Mendelssohn".....of Hebriden he said he wished he had composed it.

Woohaa, the Allegro vivace 4th movement is FAST!!! As always, Yuja can do justice to it in under 7 minutes, just barely breaking a sweat at the end (not really). And it's fun. Keeps the strings (and the audience) on their toes, so to speak. Find another recording and compare, you'll see what I mean. These young stars just cook. I do get the sense that Mendelssohn meant it that way.

Yuja and Sol are two of the great stars of classical music as soloists, here they participate with the others to bring the music to life....you can find each of them in solo performances to get to know them....

This recording is excellent! You'll get to know Sol Gabetta, the cellist and Yuja Wang the pianist. Thank you for pointing out Leigh Mesh, the bassist.

Maxim Rysanov is one of the world's preeminent violists. Kirill Troussov and David Aaron Carpenter are also major figures. I wonder if this took place at a festival where each of these stars were involved in separate concerts and decided to get together for an all-star game.
