Absolutely not true, actually Quran itself made sure clear out that extremism is bad and there is a verse in history or Hadith that tells the story of how the prophet Mohammad PBUH told one of his close friends to put less time into praying to Allah because he was harming himself and consuming all his time. Its also mentioned that being a good person to others and to animals is more important than directly praying to Allah. I live in Jordan and I know exactly what they teach in mosques. They teach what te Quran and all the prophets of Allah said.
