One’s passion for what they treasure - so good to see it doesn’t always has to be material accumulation. Learning & preserving the precious life we have here on our planet needs to be our first priority, then all the others will fall inline. Thank you David Allen Sibley
In addition to his physical books I also have the book as an app on my smartphone which I use all the time. On the app you can hear samples of the calls of all the birds as well as look at his paintings.
Beautiful! The pandemic has given me time to appreciate the natural world. I have been drawing birds with watercolor pencils, and listening to the birdsong. I love to look at bluejays, love to listen to the mockingbirds. I hope birds get joy from flying, I think I would.
Wow! First of all Jane Pauley looks fantastic! And WOW can this man paint! I never knew this about him even though I am an avid backyard birder. I am excited to pick up a volume of his work
What a talent! David reminds me of Mr Rogers as well as painter Bob Ross who wants to “have a friendly little bird over here,” he speaks while he paints. “Awwh that’s nice.” Lol 🎨 🦢 🤗 🌞
Good... Brooklyn growing up... I looked for birds, butterflies and trees... Older, I explored many hikes throughout the states. Always referenced a field guide. You can take the girl out of Brooklyn. Great interview, thanks very much.☺
Glad to see bird watching getting the attention it deserves
Totally agree! I am a birder.
We ALL NEED MORE OF THESE REAL BIRDS!!!!❤
Excellent field guides. Mr. Sibley is also very generous, donating copies for our auction in support of the Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge.
Ridgefield, Washington? Very cool. 👍🏻

He is so fortunate to have a passion and to make a living.
What an inspiring segment about someone pursuing their passion and the world enjoying the rewards.

Thank you for letting us know there is an app.! I just purchased mine for iPad and iPhone 🌷
Thank you so much for the beautiful story!🦉🥰

I can hardly wait to receive my Sibley Birds West that I just ordered. Thank you for the inspiration.
I love to see birds playing in rain puddles. This is a great interview on birds.
This was lovely
I will watch this over and over. More like this, please. 🐦 🦉 🦅
I have his book and I keep it next to my window. It is a treasured belonging. Thanks for sharing his story. Great piece.
Such gorgeous illustrations.
I have two of his books. Used them a few days ago after having an unexpected great horned owl sighting.

Nice to know I'm not the only lover of birds.
I love my birds, enjoy watching them and listening to their different sounds. Thanks Linda for sharing.
met him once. an experience beyond words. The Michael Jordan of Birding
The sibley guide to the western states is my birding bible. Thanks Dave!
What a talent right here in western Massachusetts
🐦
What a beautiful piece. So fun it's a birding family. My older son, now 6, and I have been on numerous creature adventures, usually birding.
just ordered the book as I was watching this! I have countless bird guides but sibley is my favorite. I also don't have any in depth books yet
Society Master Guide by Audubon is highly recommended.
As a child I watched backyard birds, fascinated by their chirps and flight. There was no artifice, just "being."

Great interview, thanks very much.☺
Aww love it nature and art
I was in Plattsburgh, NY just yesterday. Brutally cold, but I made a 4 mile walk a priority.
💚💚💚💚💚 so beautiful
This is for the birds!
now im going to have to find his book
Bravo!!
The "Black-Headed Grosbeak" is actually a Rose-Breasted Grosbeak!
I think the VO doesn't match the footage. He gestures first to the RB and then to the BH.
You’ll notice he refers to himself and the rest of us as ‘birders’ not bird-watchers. It is the preferred term
What a great mission and probably a most enjoyable one 👍
"Dear God, make me a bird, so I can fly far, far away from here..."
1:50 my mom whenever I draw a bird
🙏
I am sure he has been to Nepal. There are lots of birds to see there if he hasn’t.
❤
Zsa Zsa!
Dahlink!
birds are all fine and well but I wish david sibley would do a field guy about cool stuff like spiders and snakes
Swallows *are* songbirds. Jeez.
What a foolish interviewer.
he's just a little creepy
Bird man.
