      Hey, I know this is 2 months old but I'm in the same boat. How did the cloth pads impact the sound signature, especially the highs and bass? JDM mentioned they sound like Brainwavz hybrid pads but those ruined the sound of my m50x's so I'm kinda worried but the material seems interesting.

    • @camjo6397
      @camjo6397 Před 4 lety

      Evan Rajkovic, Bro I got the pads and honestly the stock pleather pads sounded worse than these. The bigger cup allows the sound to have more room to grow and the bass is well insulated. Obviously it might be slightly different but they are so much more comfortable that it’s not even a question which I would choose. Also idk if you’re a producer, but if so, you should usually be listening to your mix on a few sources anyway to get the best sound on different speakers. There is no such thing as true objective sound.

    Hi! Have you ever tried the ProStock line from Brainwavz? It's a series of pads made especially for ATH M headphones (M50x, M40x etc.). They seem interesting, but it looks like the inner dimensions are a bit on the small side and may not leave as much space for the ears as the stock pads.
    Also, did you notice a treble increase with brainwavz pads on the M40X? Is it fixable with some added padding on the driver?

    Really detailed video, but I just have one question. Does the brainwavz gel pads leak bass? I really like bass on my Cloud Alphas but the stock pads give me pain after 30/45 mins and I think it's because they are to soft and my ear is touching the driver. Do you think the gel ones would solve that problem? Will they keep more space between my ears and the drivers without losing bass performance?

  • @lemonscented7703

    Don't mind me, just digging up old pad videos to find the best replacements for my ATH-WS1100iS because the OG donuts (which, of course, are out of production from OEM) are on their last little pleather legs. Was not a fan of the Brainwavz Oval Hybrids, my experience was the exact opposite of most folks' - low and mid ranges dropped out, slight treble bump which I like but everything felt recessed and I lost the clarity and detail that made me love these cans in the first place.
    If retroactively, I thank you for such a thorough video on the topic. Had no idea the microsuede had that good of sound isolation and retained lower frequencies that much, nor was I aware of the gel pads being THAT comfy (in the time since this was posted, they're down to $30 retail! much more reasonable). I've had my eye on the Yaxi STpad2s for a while, if only because they look super sick, but it's good to know they're as well-built as they look.
    Lots to consider - thanks for the in-depth comparison!

    it's all stupid, all these pads... it's really obvious put thick leather on the outside with smooth on the outside of the skin, non reflective on the other side of the skin towards the inside. Then, perforated or suede on the face contacting skin also non-flective on the inside pointing in, and then velour or netting for the inner circle around the ears... full soundstage, no reflections, no mud, comfortable, and without releasing all the bass.... But, NO COMPANY MAKES THIS. 😑
