You have a method of breeding Bettas I have not seen before. It all makes good common sense, and I can see how it works.
But you keep talking about Almond Leaves having Tannin, down here in north Florida we have a tree that puts out Tanic Acid, I think Tanin and Tanic Acid are the same, since the swamp people drink dark clear swamp water that has Tanic Acid, because Tanic Acid keeps bacteria from growing. This southern tree is the Cypress Tree.
The cheap guy that I am, I will use cypress leaves and see how well they do first, they're everywhere and they're free. I'll let you know how it works.😁

Hi! I had a male veiltail betta named Gordon who had bright indigo fins. He bred with a bright red female, and had at least 40 healthy fry. Sadly, when I was in the process of selling the fry, Gordon died of an unknown reason. I got to keep one little betta from his spawn, and she was bright indigo just like him. Now her and her momma are happily swimming in a 20 gallon together :) R.I.P Gordon, your daughter will have her babies hatch soon from an albino male who she bred with.

If you have not improved your water draining method, I have a way for you to start the change and be able to walk away from it! I have a piece of cheese cloth that I have tied around the one end so no fry can get into the drain line! I use a clip to attach the line to the tank, and I put the tip exactly where I want the water to drain to, and I just wait to see when it's done!
Then, I refill my bucket to the same spot, add a little more to fill the tank from evaporation, and repeat!
I keep the cheese cloth on the end because stuff gets in the air, and the cloth will catch whatever happens to float into your bucket! I have cats, so there is always like 3 pieces of cat hair in the air at any given time. Lol!
Never lost a fry since starting this, nor do I get random cat hairs floating in my tank 😂

You can get a potato cut it in half, carve a whole in the middle of one half of the potato then out bury it in moist soil for a week.
After a week take it out scoop out the middle of the potato
Get oats add hot water mix ( until it's googy ) wait 15 mins and add yeast and mix it ..
Have clean jars and add the mixture into it then.
Then you add the scooped potato into the oat mixture, mix it up and add more yeast .
Wait at least 5-7 days and you would see the micro worms

During COVID19, we decided to put our male in with our female (April 9, 2020). It has now been 2 weeks, and I only have 4 baby betta fry left! Of course I had no live food except for the little infusoria(?) that are swimming around in the tank, so the fry are eating that, but I bought Hikari (powder) and New Life Spectrum Grow Fry Starter fish food powder. The fry are not really eating the powder, but the infusoria are, and the fry are eating the infusoria. I have some brine shrimp eggs on the way (tomorrow), but have never cultured anything before! Is it going to be too late to feed the fry the hatched baby brine shrimp by Tuesday (two days from now)? It is very limited baby fish food supply out here in NJ! Where do I get banana, walter and micro worms? I have frozen blood worms for when they get bigger and pellets. Help!
