  • Get yourself one of these Rivet Guns→ amzn.to/2xzsBp4
You will need a rivet tool for this fix but they are inexpensive and are very handy to have. You will need a large pot because the plastic is thicker than the 1gal plant pots. So far this patch has held up perfectly after over 2000 miles. I don't expect it will give me any trouble in the future.

You just saved me over $230 on my 2017 Forte. That's what the KIA dealership told me the replacement cost was, not sure if that was before or after taxes, cuz I just laughed at the guy and hung up. Found your video, and got to work. Also I had to put washers behind the rivets, because, the first one pulled through immediately. I replaced the 2 clips that came off, that definitely caused the thing to hang down and ware the exact same V shaped hole, exactly like the one in this video. I did this a week ago and it's super secure. Thanks so much, this is why I love CZcams.

Thanks for sharing this. I replaced a fog light bulb but forgot to screw in the cover, so on the freeway it snagged and snapped off a 3 in piece. Replacement is part of the liner which costs $70.
This will be a fun little project.

Had a led resistor that was sitting on the liner and actually melted a hole in the plastic. Was wondering how to patch it and this was it! Kid just threw out a plastic garbage can and I’ll just used some glue or nut/bolt combo just to cover the hole so water doesn’t splash in. Doesn’t have to be water tight. Awesome thanks for the idea

Super smart man! Thanks. I’m going to do this for a temporary fix until I can get a replacement. They want $72 for a new one. I’ll just get one at junkyard eventually for $30

Just busted my kit off the bumper during Rallycross and had a similar issue happen on the highway (was more damage than I thought). I lost my driver side splash shield too, but easy to find those at Pick-N-Pull. I'm too lazy to remove my custom mounted mudflaps from the rest of the fender liner, so this is perfect. Thanks!

Nicely done, especially for older cars for which you can't even get replacement liners any more.

How long has it been holding up? You can buy "Large Flange" Pop Rivets and use a washer on the back side.

Just a quick question - did the plastic liner that you attached rub up against the body of the car? I have a similar situation where I was kind of sideswiped and it caused the plastic liner to break free from the body of the car
. Now it squeaks and rattles so badly! I was going to try to reattach mine with a rivet gun what do you think? The area that it detached from is at about 2, if viewed as a clock🤔

    Great job.
I would suggest a heat gun for shaping. I have used a heat gun to melt trashcans (similar but even thicker, would probably work even better on the plant pots) for a project.
Never thought of rivets thanks for idea (I used zip ties, might revist that project)

The aftermarket liners are 15 to 20 bucks. I just got one for my Lexus. Quicker to replace than patch.

Nice job! Thanks for sharing. I will probably do the same on my civic. You could use a heat gun to give the patch the shape of the liner. I will have to seal somehow the patch as we are getting heavy snowfalls here in Montreal.

I'm gonna have to do something similar. I own a Honda Civic 2010 EX Coupe. When I bought it I couldn't afford the appropriate tires so I went with cheaper fatter ones. The tires ended up scrapping off the inner fenders on bumps and every time I made full turns. It all went to shit when a big fat orange cat jumped onto my lane on the freeway on my way to work at 4am, The fucker destroyed my lower engine cover and finished off the liners. I ended up paying $60 for each 3 pieces.
I installed the 3 pieces... with I assume the wrong clips.. or the fender i bought was a bit flimsier or thinner than the OEM with bigger holes. Point is it eventually unclipped, sagged and hooked on tall grass while reversing... I was annoyed and carried on driving, I fucking tore them off again...Didnt care about the rest and fucking ripped everything off on the highway againn.... SO i dont wanna spend another 180 for some cheap flimsy thin plastic and im gonna have to find a way. Maybe try black all weather gorilla tape then use some plast weld idk if theres for super flexible welds. Also saw the true repair you need $400 tools. so duck that.l
