He's a gorgeous boy! I love those soft moments, when neither he nor I ask anything of each other, we just "BE" together. There is a very special energy shared in those moments. I don't think it can ever be quantified. Also, using a bit can be beneficial to both horse and rider if used correctly with giving hands. They are very much like any other "tool" and can be gentle or harsh depending on the human. I often see those who are strongly against bits think it's perfectly fine to use a hackamore or bosal or even a rope halter in the wrong hands can cause pain to a horse. It's all about energy, intention and awareness. Thank you for sharing your beautiful animals and your knowledge.
Thank you for your nice message. This Horse, Kabul, was very afraid of whips when he came with us. It took some tome to convince him that there was nothing to be afraid of. I so much like to share the good moments to 'fight' the fear of the Horse but also to give the Horse the possibility to share quality time. Just like you say, just be together and share the moment. These are the most precious and valuable moments and are to me the foundation of trust and respect.
Lovely lovely video! I like how he was sharing his food with you just like his mother shared with him. We had a horse growing up he was pretty old when my dad bought him but he was very gentle. My dad had rented three ponies for a birthday party and Duke would let my brother who was almost two years old lead him around in a circle with the lead strap. After my dad bought him to help pay for his feed there were a couple times when Dad rented him out for a company picnic. The money would help pay for Duke hay for the winter. We never just fed him out we fed him horse and mule feed which was a combination of a lot of things and it had molasses and vitamins and I think. Duke would get some in the bottom of a feed bucket everyday. We had an acre of ground and Duke Escape too many times from the Corral dad made why I guess getting down on the ground and crawling under the fence nobody ever saw him do it but he was loose a couple times. So dad took down the Corral and just steak to go out with one of those great big screws that go in the ground so Duke had a lot of green grass to eat all summer. But back to running Duke out we didn't have a truck we didn't have horse trailer that we had a VW bus. Dad took the seats out and I think even took the mat out I'm not sure cuz I think he was afraid that Matt would slip around so Duke was on the metal floor but dux-bak hit the roof and so to ride in the VW van to the event Duke had to put his head down between the two front seats. At the time they were separated there wasn't you know it wasn't a bench seat in the front. Dad never had trouble getting Duke to get up inside VW van or bus to go to the event. I think Duke like the ride in the bus he must have like looking out the windows and he must have enjoyed very much all the little kids that got on his back to ride around in a circle. My brother and I would leave Duke around at the event. It wasn't a pay-per-ride kind of thing it was a renting him all day long for the event. You have a wonderful way with the horses and I never knew that about a mother horse feeding grass to her Colt because the Colt has trouble reaching the grass I guess because of their long legs. Your horse is a beautiful horse and you are very intelligent lady

Love your philosophies. I have one horse, one dog and one cat, and love them all equally. My relationships with each are different only at the level of detail. From a big-picture perspective, our relationships are identical. The act of bonding with different animals teaches us something about the meaning of oneness; about the meaning of consciousness. I find that cooperation and friendship is the best way to interact with my cats, too. If I try to dominate, they rebel. But if I treat them with gentleness, kindness, and love they are sweet and loving in return. Ask nicely, and they usually comply. Demand harshly and I can guarantee they won't. It sounds similar with horses. Except that it sounds like horses will comply out of fear if they have to. But it sounds like they do better with kindness and respect, too. You take care of them. So, they take care of you.

I'm not sure if I can say this is related to the video or not but if a horse all its life never truly trusted people but hey find someone who the really do trust and that someone trusts the horse aswell.. so if your energy is sadness does the horse become sad as well? because my horse and best friend who sadly passed away always seemed sad when I was alone with him and talked to him sometimes on tough days i would cry and when ibwas with him he seemed sad but also always hoping to cheer me up so I'm not sad but I worry that I caused him stress from my energy because I just recently discovered this video so I became curious about if horses become sad when you have a sad energy?
Interesting. My personal thoughts on this is that we do have to be careful to share our sadness with horses and other species. Humans can talk so we can explain why we feel sad, but horses will not be able to understand the 'why'. Trust is a big feeling, and when we trust another one (can also be a horse) it feels safe. Safety is for horses very important since they are very vulnerable. I think positive emotions give life, meaning that when we are happy the world around us is also happy. Thats like with dogs, you can always have a party with a dog. They like to play. So my idea is that we should find comfort with another human to cheer us up if needed, and be with the horse on a positive way. Emotions are contagious. Years ago I had a student with a 'depressive' horse. The horse was almost not communicating with anybody. After some lessons I found out that she was very sad and when she was with the horse she cried over her personal worries. She spend hours in his stable to feel sad, and so the horse learned that her presence means sadness. Some horses are very sensible in this. When we talked about her horse-human relationship she sort of awoke and after that she played with her horse. It took some time for her to realize that comfort is ok but that no horse could understand where this sadness comes from. When you need a cheer up I think it is better to find fun, and things a horse would like too. Compare it with children. We cannot ask a child to cheer up a grown person. Hope I did not insult you, just my thoughts and experience.
Its ok the horse will want to help you just receive and allow for healing. Your horse would naturally want to be with you and help. Let your love come, I've been told horses are attracted to that energy, but they should be allowed the distance if they want it. They know balance.
My idea is different, we matures avoid to cry near small children. We can have ur issues and sadness, but thats human stuff. Please don't let a horse help you, solve your own issues and go strong when you meet, play or work with horses. A horse is a horse and they can get very confused about our complicated emotional state of mind. They are our prisoners, and need somebody to lean on. Yes they know balance, ad when you are programmed (instinctual) to avoid fear and conflicts, then we should be the wise one. Be balanced
To be helpful: a young horse( in general) is called a foal, not a filly. Filly is specifically ( female) obviously some young horses are (male) therefore called colts.
The plants come from thetypical Dutch ditch, the farmes cut them and the Horses like them. They are full of vit C. When we cut the bamboo we also feed that, they also like that.

foals/fillies only until 1 year old then are yearlings. I hear people debate that a colt can refer to both sexes and up to 4yo in some circles.
