      They aren't. New trains are being bought for line 2, tr's will stay on line 1.
      Future:
      Line 1:TR and new train for yonge extension
      Line 2:New trains only
      Atleast, thats the plan. You don't know what could change

    The TRs should run alongside the T1s on the BD as a mixed fleet, like how the R62As ran alongside the R188s on the 7 train up until CBTC was completed. Nice video.

      Actually there was one summer I think it was either 2006 or 2007 or it might have been 2016 or 2017 where the TRs did run alongside the T1’s on line 2 only because some of the T1’s were having A/C problems and so they wouldn’t have a train shortage on line 2 and so the passengers wouldn’t melt while riding on line 2 and while they fixed all the T1’s with A/C problems they used some TR trains on line 2 temporarily to make up for the T1’s with A/C problems while they were getting their A/C’s fixed

    T1s are confirmed to last until year 2026. They are said to have a very strong lifespan that exceeds any of the h series by a huge amount. But the TRS are expected to replace some bad T1s by 2021. Eventually, they will have to be putting TRS on Line 2 because the line will have an extension in the 2020s. They will only be able to order new rolling stock and their only choice will be the trs

    • @trainboy647
      @trainboy647 Před 5 lety +8

      No, T1s will last until 2036. TTC is upgrading T1s to make them stay in service for ten more years. It is a lot more cheaper to fix up the T1s than to replace them with new TRs. The "Life Extension Overhaul" program will have the intent of operating the T1 fleet for a total of 40+ years.

    • @trainboy647

    I remember one summer some of the T1 trains had A/C problems so while they repaired the T1’s with the A/C problems and so they would have enough trains on line 2 (Bloor/Danforth) they moved some of the rocket trains temporarily to line 2 until all the A/C’s on all the T1’s were working again and from what I hear the TTC won’t have rocket trains on line 2 permanently until about 2025 or so
    In my opinion I think they should have put rocket trains on line 2 before line 4 (Sheppard) because I’m sure line 2 gets used more than line 4 and line 2 is also a bigger line than line 4 but obviously the TTC had their reasons for putting the rocket trains on line 4 before line 2

      @@michaelsegal3558 The reason was that line 1(which is now fully atc), was being upgraded to use atc. The t1's can't run on tracks with atc. The tr's were moved to let them access davisville yard, which isn't on line 4. Line 4 doesn't have its own maintenance yard. It's only 6 trains on line 4, but like 35 i think on line 2, so its not a big investment to change line 4.

    You know what, for the light up subway maps in the Toronto Rocket trains, it was kind of a waste for Bombardier to put LED lights in for Line 3.
    Line 1 was the first one to get Toronto Rocket trains, so the map on that line would light up Line 2 at Bloor-Yonge, St. George, and Spadina, and Line 4 at Sheppard-Yonge. When Line 4 got Toronto Rocket trains, the map would light up Line 1 at Sheppard-Yonge.
    So if the only possible way for Line 3 to be lit up on the map, would be for the Toronto Rocket trains to be on Line 2, then why would they put it in? Because I'm sure that Bombardier knew that the TTC wasn't gonna put Toronto Rocket trains on Line 2 before the closer of Line 3. (Once again, rest in peace Line 3.)
    But I guess it was useful in this situation, and we'll never see it again.

    I actually wish the TRs would operate on Line 2 full-time like lines 1& 4 I don't want to constantly transfer from car to car at every stop just to move from 1 part of the train to the next I wanna be able to move from 1 part of the train to another while it's in motion

      @soccerguyrblx9047 Před 6 lety +3

      The reason why it’s on line 1 because of capacity, it’s on line 4 because the try can handle one man operating system, the t1s can still handle line 2s capacity in rush hour, just to move car to car freely isn’t really a reason, when I arrive at the station and go to the platform, where I go on the platform is what I car I use it’s not that big of a deal. It would also cost a lot more money for the TTC if they got a TR onto blood Danforth

      @Qball10 Před 2 lety +2

      @@soccerguyrblx9047 Another reason the TR's are not on line 2 is because a curve at Greenwood Yard is too tight for the articulated units of the TR. Greenwood's facilites are also optimized for 2 car sets only.

    No matter how much I like both of these trains, most of the H-series trains, beat both Bombardier trains. The G-series trains were mid while I HATED the M-series trains!
