  • Hello friends! I hope this video finds you well; it has been on my mind to create more slow living, mindful, romanticizing homemaking and motherhood style videos and you all asked for more so here we are. Today I'm sharing the secret that has vastly changed the way I clean my home, and how clean my home remains.
I hope you know that this video is in NO way meant to make any of you feel as if you aren't good enough; quite the opposite, I hope it brings you encouragement and maybe helps you through your day the same way this little change helped me feel a bit less overwhelmed.
Sending you all love, as always!

There is no right or wrong way to keep house, friends. Never feel guilty for your mess; mess is morally neutral. But I hope my rambles might help you as they did me, in finding a way to function in your home as it is and find things that bring you joy within homemaking. xoxo

Lovely. I think perhaps finding, trying and using different new ways of cleaning works as a way to maintain or inspire enthusiasm? For people with pain, depression, distraction and other challenges in motivation that very well could be key. Something others don't understand or cannot see readily. I'm happy for those with a "this is it and it's enough for me" methodology. Yet just like what foods we eat it isn't universal and I think it detracts from our humanity if we try to portray that it is or should be. ❤
Thank you again for your content. I always feel gently soothed and supported from watching you. Thank you. 🌻🧡🦋

I'm not a mother, but I often find myself watching homemaking videos because I romanticize the perfectly clean house. Since the pandemic, I've been working from home and I find myself constantly cleaning on my lunch break or after work, often until dinner time. I feel like I can never get ahead of it. Thank you for making this video and talking about your views on homemaking! This made me feel much better and gave me a lot to think about. Thank you!

Several years ago I was struck by the scene is the Bible where Jesus keeps asking Peter if he loves him, Peter keeps saying he does, and Jesus tells him to feed and care for his sheep. Whether one ascribes to a faith tradition or not, the idea that we show others we love them by caring, not only for them, but about the things they care about as well, is always true and important to remember.
Since I love my husband, and I know he likes living in a cleaner, less cluttered space, I put more effort into cleaning than I used to. Since my husband loves me, and knows I hate vacuuming with a passion, he helps with chores, including vacuuming.
This was a lovely video, with an excellent music choice, and I look forward to more of this kind of content.

Girl you are now my hero! I love seeing ‘real’ motherhood. Which means sometimes the kiddos look like the peanut butter and jelly sandwich they ate for lunch or that there’s some mystery substance stuck to the wall. That’s real. Perfection isn’t reality. This message ab the care you give to your home being an expression of love is beautiful. Thank you for this. I needed it today! ❤️❤️❤️

And I somehow missed this yesterday. You have found your calling! Look at all these people you are lifting up; it's a virtual hug for all of them💗😊 If my mom could have had this when I was young, my childhood could have, well, existed. Instead she felt like things had to be perfect and done, and I had to be a slave to that as the oldest. Moms and dads need this, so much💝💝💝

This was beautiful and just what I needed today. I was lamenting earlier to myself, asking, "how is there already hair and cat fur all over again, I JUST vacuumed!". Along with my daily struggle with figuring out what to make for supper -- that is truly my biggest struggle, and often it makes me feel like crying. It seems like, as mothers, we can be doing so many things right, but the things we perceive as our flaws or failure can just eat us alive. That's not just me, right? I am sitting on my bed that is covered with clothes and towels, but took a break from folding to lean back and watch this, what a refreshing video! So thank you for sharing real motherhood!

Oh my goodness! When I first saw the title I cringed because as lovely as those romanticized homemaking videos are, I just can’t relate. Then I heard and saw what you were doing and it was perfect! I adored seeing someone else sink full of dishes. I loved seeing someone else cleaning a kid-decorated living room to pretty music. Incidentally, your home is lovely! Now I’m going to go make dinner with a smile. Blessings to you.

Gotta be honest, I cringe at a LOT of homemaking advice because it's very much not realistic especially in the romanticized youtuber world! I'm so glad this resonated, I really want to show finding beauty in a little bit of chaos, or a lot of chaos sometimes.

  • @therewillbecatswithgwenhwyfar

I love what you said. And that you were so empathetic about not judging anyone’s messy homes.
10 years ago, I had a coma followed by weeks of rehab, which left me fatigued and with some impaired mobility. My housekeeping was minimal.
About a year later, a fellow mom from my friend circle called CPS because I was disabled and put my energy into direct care, rather than cleaning.
Instead of helping. Instead of cleaning. Called CPS.
(CPS checked that my kids were clean, fed, and loved and closed the case. But by then, we’d been worried and traumatized.)
A messy home is morally neutral. And disabled parents can still be great parents who love their kids.
    Lovely video. ❤️

A wonderful message. Thank you for spreading it, and being brave enough share that you're not perfect, and it's okay. For letting us know that we are not alone in our never-ending battles to be neat and tidy. It is easy to slip, from exhaustion and frustration, into a feeling of resentment about chores and forget that you're doing them to have a better home life. Thank you for that reminder.
This year I have been trying to change some house-keeping habits for myself, literally myself, as self-care (showing myself some love?). One item I've changed is doing the dishes before retiring for the night. I wake up with a clean sink (even if the kitchen isn't spotless), and my day starts out a little brighter and my mood is lifted. It takes away that feeling of dread.

Kristina, I found this very peaceful to watch and listen to the gentle music as you went about your day in your gorgeous loving home. In no way should we ever feel inadequate or judged. Sure, there are supposedly "super mums" out there in their sterile designer homes trying to show the rest of us how to achieve perfection in every inch of our lives. If this is what makes them happy well and good but it must be so exhausting. Your video on the other hand is simply beautiful in every way. Please keep them coming! xx

You are so right. I am a retired "stay at home" mom, if there is such a thing. My kids are adults and live in their own homes. It's just the two of us now. I still have cooking and cleaning and I still don't like the cleaning. Your video has helped me to see what is really the point. I have seen the quote "I wash the dishes not for the dishes but because I love the people who will eat off of them". This has made it a lot easier for me to enjoy doing dishes. I will try to think of cleaning the house because I love the people who live in the house. Thank you. You are wonderful.

Ooh this video made me feel feelings!
Your video is very realistic for a lot of people and honestly reminds me of a grandmother's home. Not in the decor (though it's very cozy!) but how I think of a grandmother's love and care of her children and children's children. Tidying behind the messes, a sink of dishes that get washed but are dirtied again--from her loved ones eating her meals. Sitting around a table with soft, mismatched table setting that accompany a loving meal made by an adoring mother figure. A baby trailing behind learning as she goes, watching and helping with tasks. A home full of people safe, warm, fed, and loved.
I sincerely hope this comment doesn't read negatively to you. It just reminds me of my experiences in a grandmother's home. Thank you for sharing!

I am an acts of service love show-er and while I know my family doesn't necessarily receive my love this way (they are mostly quality time and physical touch receivers), I do tell them every so often that I show my love for them by keeping things up for them - so they know where their shoes are and that they have clean clothes to wear.

    @mamasinthegarden7068 Před 2 lety +1

I really loved this. Especially about slowing down. 3 kids (3 year old daughter and 10 year old boy girl twins). I constantly feel in a rush. Up, breakfast, empty dishwasher, laundry, take small one to nursery, make sure big kids are ready for school. Work (I work mostly from home), in between, tidy, vacuum, more laundry, sweep, mop, wipe bathroom, eat some lunch. Little one home from nursery. Tidying undone in seconds. And still the house never seems tidy, and I am so tired, and so often feel like I'm failing, because I'm not the mum with the spotless house, and coordinated children who are doing fun activities she had laid out.
On a more positive note, I have learned that 'little and often' really does add up. That I feel calmer and less overwhelmed if things aren't chaotic.

They have their moments, the boy put a pile of laundry behind his dresser rather than putting it away, and mixed clean and dirty stuff together. I let him know that's not allowed. His twin sister has autism, and she's great, but easily overwhelmed and struggles with executive function, so things like 'tidy your room ' don't work, it needs to broken down.

This video really spoke to me. I don't know if it what you said or how you said it. But I have always hated cleaning. Even after I cleaned I got no enjoyment from the clean room or house. I only saw it as a neverending repetitive task. But this inspired me too look how I spend my time so I can keep a better house.
So thank you for making this video.

I could have really used this channel when my kids were little. They are all teens now (one is almost 20! Like wtf… how did that happen??) the home stays a lot cleaner now but this makes me feel a lot less guilty about how the house used to be. Kids are happy and we have a peaceful space. I realize I didn’t do too badly!

Oh my gosh Kristina, that was so inspiring and beautiful, creative and touching 🤗 ❤️I wish I'd found you sooner, my daughter's are 9 and 7 yrs old but when they were very little I felt so unbelievably overwhelmed and my husband like yours worked long hours and I had very little support.
I needed this 7 yrs ago!! But what a wonderful reminder for now🤗
After seeing this I must say I feel inspired to capture real motherhood moments on film too, though I don't encompass the talent you do🤗
Much gratitude and hugs to you , you're a special spirit x

This is so beautiful and, for me, hugely timely. Thank you for content that is both inspiring and utterly relatable. I have chosen to make my home and homeschooling my son my craft and career but I always feel as though I can't say that those things are hard BECAUSE they are a choice. I have chosen to make my home in a way that often adds to my tasks by not using labour saving things and being old fashioned in lots of ways which I adore but oh my gosh some days finding joy is hard. The guilt is extraordinary. I think especially as Mother's, whatever our choices, lives or balances, the guilt is huge!
Mess is morally neutral and the magic is in your fingers, I love this so much!!! ✨✨✨✨✨

It is wonderful to hear your words, I wish I had heard something like this when my children were little, I felt so alone and such a failure then. My children are grown, I know I did my best but my home was never perfect or even close to how I imagined how it should be. I am still looking now for something that will help me make a home

This is now my favorite video of all time, thank you so much for this message. I have been feeling so frustrated because despite to all my efforts I never achieve to live up to those minimalist-perfect-spotless motherhood expectations. And even though I’ve always do things out of love consciously, I end up feeling like it is never enough (that I am never enough). Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

This!!! Thank you so much for doing this video. We have many similarities and this video just gave me the boost and feeling of a warm hug I needed. I became a stay at home mom a few months into my pregnancy with my now 6 year old son. I had post partum depression for a long time after having him, but was able to pick myself up eventually. These past 2 years and change have really brought me back to a less then stellar place, along with seasonal depression. After watching this I am feeling more energized and want to take more time to show more love through my homemaking.
Also, our homes could be twins or maybe at least cousins. I nearly spit out my coffee when I noticed the same microwave and carafe we use. Those are not the only similarities, looking at your kitchen makes me think of my own. My son is the 5th or 6th generation in this home. It is not "perfect" and there is still some work to do, but it is an old house and we kind of like it that way. Thank you again for this honest and raw homemaking post.

I so needed this today. My husband and I are 33 weeks pregnant and it's getting more difficult on my body to do everything around the house. I then get overwhelmed and feel guilty because all that I feel needs to be done before baby gets here. This video helped me have grace with myself but also see the things I can do as an act of love (not an act of panic). Thanks Kristi!
